  1. Jeeez today is the first day I've been able to get logged in, since the change! Hope everyone is still doing great! I'm still in a stall :( I'm getting more than enough Protein in between shakes and meals, just having a major issue gettng my Water in and I can tell I'm starting to get dehydrated. I carry my water with me everywhere I go, just having an issue making myself drink it and its frustrating because i have a feeling thats what is holding me in this stall! Anyone have any suggestions on making it easier to get fluids in when you have to force yourself to drink??

  2. I had my first post-op apt on Thursday. Met with my nut, nurse practitioner, & surgeon. I'm down 11 pounds since surgery, but all 3 of them told them that they don't even focus on the amount of weight lost until 3 to 4 months down the road. They want me to focus on getting used to the new diet, and making sure I get my 60g Protein a day and 48 to 64oz of Fluid a day. Everything is going great...still having muscle pain at one of my incision site and he said that would probably last several weeks while the muscle he sutured back up heals. And I got to move to my pureed/mushed diet!!! A scrambled egg never tasted so good....could only eat about half of 1 large egg, but it was still something to chew!! Hope everyone's journey is still going well!!

  3. It is hard!! I had to do 10 days pre-op, so after day 4 or 5 it got easier for me. I just kept reminding myself of all the reasons I was doing this and the day before surgery I rewarded myself! I went and bought a cute top that is way too small now, but will soon be able to wear in several months hopefully!

  4. I would check with your NUT or surgeon. The program I was on allowed clear & full liquids pre-op. So I was allowed to have grits (I think I survived on grits and chicken broth between my Protein Shakes to help with my hunger LOL) This is what was on my shopping list they provided me with pre-op. Clear liquids: sugar free Jell-O, sugar free popsicles, chicken broth, beef broth, crystal light, & decaff coffee. Full liquids: low fat cream Soups, skim or 1% milk, reduced fat Lactaid, low sugar yogurt with no fruit pieces, sugar free pudding, cream of wheat, grits, and Protein Drinks. Hope this helps, but I would verify with your program first just to make sure! Everyone's program seems to be different!

  5. Welp I woke up this morning and feel pretty normal! No gas pains at all today so far woohooo! I didn't take any pain meds all day yesterday until I went to bed and did a lot of laps around my yard. I still have pain at the big incision site where he pulled my stomach through. I'm hoping to stay this way, since I have to go back to work tomorrow. I still don't have my energy back. Yesterday just walking upstairs to my bedroom to take a shower wore me out (had to sit down and take a break before even getting in the shower). Hope everyone else is doing great!

  6. Hey y'all!! I'm day two post op from having my lap band removed and being sleeved. I stayed over night and got to come home yesterday afternoon. The gas pains are the worst, I've been walking like crazy and taking the pills for gas and nothing seems to be working. I have 6 lap incisions, two bigger ones, one from where my port from my lap band was removed and the bigger one where he removed my stomach from...its by far the sorest since more muscle was cut into with it. I didn't have to have any drains, sutures, or staples, just have dermabond over my incisions, so I can shower and all that good stuff. I'm just taking it easy and sipping on my Protein Shakes, Water, and sugar free popsicles. Hope everyone else is doing great!!

  7. I'm sept 25 also. I'm having a hard time with this liquid diet...I hate chicken broth. Hungry as ever, and getting headaches. I'm so ready for surgery!

I'm having a hard time with being hungry too. Today I've already had 68g of Protein and still feel like I'm starving and every time I turn around my friends on Facebook are talking about food, posting food, or eating food, plus I never paid attention to how many food commercials were on tv until now!! The only thing keeping me going right now is knowing my surgery is on the line if I don't do it! If anyone has any suggestions on getting through this...I'm totally open to them!!!

  8. I spent Friday at my hospital pre-op, had labs, EKG, & CXR done and met with the pre-anesthesia nurse and finished up all my hospital paperwork. After that had my meeting with my NUT and Bari Program Director to go over everything and what to expect for my overnight hospital stay, finished paperwork with them, and then my final meeting with my surgeon's NP after that...everything is a go for the 25th and its finally hitting me that this is reality!! I'm excited, but just a lil bit nervous as it gets closer!

  9. I'm not sure then... I'm sorry you're have to go through that, I know its aggravating. I had GERD really bad that eventually lead to vomiting everything I put in my mouth. All my stuff was normal...the only thing my surgeon thought it could be was that my band had become too tight. I had 6cc's at the time and had it all removed on 8/12 and haven't had a problem since.

  10. I am afraid of going to get the sleeve and coming home without it. I have a band and I have been having a lot of pain and burning with it. I hate to get to Mexico and have to come back again. I went to the doctor here and they tell me they can't find anything wrong with the band but I have chest pain and a lot of burning. Has anyone else had this and what did they do for it?

Could be GERD...do you take any meds for reflux?

  11. Mine is sept 12..I am excited and nervous at the same time..I work and worry about going back and getting my fluids and Protein in

I'm worried about being able to get my liquids and protein in also. My job is only allowing me to be off the Wednesday of my surgery and expects me to be back on Monday. I've done it before, but it was just a lap gallbladder...not something major like having the biggest part of my stomach cut out! They just don't understand!! I might just have to take the risk and call in sick for a few days to allow myself to get used to things!
