  1. hey y'all! want some good news? my surgery was Sept.4th and I can honestly say it was the easiest surgery I've ever had. The only problem I had was the nausea from the anesthesia, but as soon as it was gone, I was back to myself! seriously, I never needed pain medication, the soreness was comparable to doing too many situps or crunches. the surface muscles were sore but not my guts lol. I never slept in a recliner. I never needed help getting up and down or in and out of bed. it was so much easier than I had worried about. today was my first follow up appt and everything is healing perfectly and im doing just what im supposed to do. I have gotten hungry about every 3 hours but I focus on my Protein and keep mushies available..the rest is a no brainer! im looking forward to my first fill Oct.7th so some of my hunger will go away :)

I have 3 or 4 coworkers that all are being banded in September and those of us that have had the surgery already have had similar stories. easier than what we had anticipated! so, all of u that are.waiting on surgery, truthfully....it will be great...no worries! attitude is everything with healing. stay positive!

  2. Awesome' date=' tbatch!!! That's great. I hope my recovery is as easy. What is is like to eat (actually, drink) things now?[/quote']

I don't have Fluid in my band so there is little to no restriction, however I can feel it in my chest when I need to slow down and let it filter in down before I drink more. its like a feeling of needing to burp but can't. once the gas and bloating goes away I think I will be back to 100% me:)

  3. I am reading all your threads and trying to figure out why my process is taking so long. First appt with surgeon was on July 3. Got my insurance approval 3 weeks later. Since then I have had an appt with a pulmonary dr' date=' a cardiologist, a psychologist, a pre surgery class, asleep study, a pulmonary function test and an appt with a nutritionist. I can't figure out if it is because of the surgeons requirements, my age or insurance requirements or all of the above. Has anyone else gone through all these tests. By the way[/quote']

yes! most of us have had all those tests as well. I am on the countdown, 3rd day of liquid diet and doing good! once the ball gets rolling it rolls fast! my surgery is Sept 4th (next Wednesday) I am ready and doing everything I can to be the healthiest candidate so I will have a successful surgery and life after lapband success! good luck to you! my advice would be to communicate with your surgeons office and get a plan for you! its fun to get things checked off that to do list!!

  4. I know now what hunger pains are vs head hungry like everyone has talked about. I had a new grandbaby on day 1, so my first few days have been spent with tons of family and friends planning where to eat next! I packed my slimfast shakes and canned Soup and made it just fine...no meals for me.... I think the next 7 days will be a little easier, it seems to be getting better each day. I will be banded on September 4th and it truly can't get here fast enough! its hard to get your Protein and carbs with no solid food allowed LOL!
