  1. My surgeon told me to take a small bite chew it well than wait a minute till I take the next bite, that way I won't over eat. But I'm still on liquids till next Wed. Won't be on solids for a good 3 weeks, than it is limited as to what I can have. Five weeks before I resume normal foods. But my normal is no processed foods, fresh fruits and veggies along with fish, chicken or turkey. I'm really into smoothies made with various greens. I do not eat sugar or white starches at all. It's a lifestyle change that makes this work. I lost 176 on my own, now I got banded so I can finish my journey. Best of luck to you and enjoy! Oh when it comes to eggs I only eat the whites. One egg white is 17 calories a whole egg is 90, so I use 3 egg whites for scrambled eggs.

    Slipping band

I'd find out who is covering for him and see them. Just to be on the safe side.

Personally I'd try and get in sooner, better safe than sorry.

    Breathing

Girl your right on! I worked in the nursing field for many years and the always used some sort of treatment post surgery to prevent pneumonia as you tend to breath shallow after surgery.

    Work

My doctor said I could go back after one week if a desk job, or 2 weeks if a more physical job. But I'd check with your doctor.
  6. Yes that is what my doctors office suggested doing. I was so excited when I had my first BM!

    Fasting...Fast

I just had surgery one week ago so I am on liquids only right now and for another week. I am someone who fast once a week as part of the prayer team at my church it is just something I choose to do. As far as pre-op diets, because I had lost so much weight my liver was in very good shape thus I was not required to do a 2 week diet only 2 days. I am feeling super fantastic! In fact going back to the gym today, with many limitations. But I think this is a question for your doctor. I personally see no problem with it, but I am not a doctor! Have a blessed day and may all go well for you!

    Just lazy I think

The thing is muscle is what burns fat, it also gets your metabolism going. If you want to burn fat it is important to exercise. I go to 24 hour fitness, I just had surgery last Wed and will be going back to the gym tomorrow. I will not be able to do strength training right now, but the treadmill and bike will do for now. I get my gym membership for $13. a month through my insurance. You should check with your insurance and see if they have a wellness program. A 45 minute workout could be all that is standing in the way of your next loss! Good luck!
  15. Well I'd like to say yesterday was a nice relaxing day, but it was not. Told my middle daughter about the up coming surgery and she was so angry. It made for a very stressful day. But I did get a good nights sleep and waiting for my ride to the hospital to arrive. Will take some time to pray all goes well, but at this point there is no looking back. My 12 year old granddaughter is going to spend a couple days at my house helping me out, so I bought her a cute pair of Betsey Johnson earrings as a little reward. Well my next post will be post-op! Blessings one and all!

I use Centrum as well, it's what my surgeon suggested. I am currently taking the liquid, but will go to the chewables in a week or so.

    Today is the day

All will be well! But I will be praying for all of you who are getting your band today. For the doctors and the staff as well! Blessings to each and every one of you!
  19. The time will go faster than you think! I first met with my surgeon June 25, this year, walked out of the office with an appointment. I had gone through the 4 appointments they required nearly a year before, but gave myself nearly a year to get the rest of the weight off. When I decided it was time to follow through with surgery, so July 24th it was. My recovery has been good in part for the fact that I have lost quite a bit and have gotten physically fit over the past 2 7 1/2 years. So take the time to get your body in the best shape as you can and it will make the journey just a little easier. Also find out who in your circle of friends are going to be supportive and let them know. My church friends have been my biggest support they made the process easier. My family on the other hand were not very supportive. A good support system is very important. Best wishes and I will be praying for your success!
  20. I had my hiatal hernia repaired when they did my lap band last Wed. I am go glad they did, I lived with it for over 30 years! I feel so much better it was just an added bonus! Everything has gone just as smooth as silk. You'll be glad they fixed it let me tell you!
  21. Welcome James. As I told my daughter before I had surgery you can get what ever facts you want off the internet. She was upset that I was having this done as she found a story on the internet that said 87% of lap band procedures had complications! That is just not true. But like i said the internet can give you any view point you want to get. It does not mean it is right!
  22. The best and easiest thing is to just focus on one day at a time. If you try and look at the whole picture it's just to much. It's the same way with weight loss don't look at the big picture but one pound at a time. Take each day as it comes and before you know it you'll be on your way to the hospital! You'll do fine, most of all don't worry!

    Back to work

My doctor said 1 week if a desk job and 2 if a more physical job. Well I own my own business, don't laugh but I'm a wholesale baker! Thus I make baked goods and pastries all day! I do make natural healthy snacks as well but I'm afraid it is the lush pastries that pay the bills! When ever you do return to work best wishes and stay healthy!

    Dehydrated... Maybe

My doctor said to use G-2 or Propel for some of my liquids if need be. I have not so far only done water, protein shakes, soup and more water! Funny you mention chugging water, the night before my surgery I was at the gym took a big drink of water and realized those days were soon to be over! But so far so good, fact is I feel full so quickly that I could not chug water anymore. Best wishes to you! ~Susan
