    sub for mayo

You might also look at the Oikos Greek Yogurt Dips (next to other refrig dips at grocery store). They come in 4 diff flavors and taste great w/o all the bad stuff. Had friends over last wknd and didn't tell them what they were devouring until almost gone. They were amazed.

    Protein!!!

GNC has a good one that i liked over the others. Comes in choc, vanilla, fruit punch, and cookies and creme. My doc said i could put a teaspoon of peanut butter in mine but i never tried it. Mixed w water it really isnt bad. Mixed w milk when i could, not bad at all. Keep looking, you will find one you like.

    Week 3 Mushies!

Oikos Greek yogurt comes in 4 great flavors. French onion, dill and cucumber, veggie and herb, and roasted red pepper. It tastes just like dips made w sour creme w/o all the calories. Not bad a'tall.

    united healthcare

I also have UHC thru work and was approved in about two weeks. For those of us insured w them how much do you pay for fills? Saw other posts about fills and was surprised.

    Weight Loss

Just curious how it is going for you now. Good, I hope.
  8. I also used GNC's powder shakes and they are much better than others I've tried. Just make sure you are taking vitamin supplements. I bought a huge container of Celebtate from my Dr's office (chocolate) and the flavor leaves a lot to be desired but it has more vitamins than GNC brand. Good luck to you.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills

My thanks for the post as well. Granted everyone is different, are there any stats that provide estimates on fill amounts that achieve the green zone? Maybe averages or minimum cc's? Or maybe a better question would be are there recommended strategies for getting fills? I was thinking about asking my doctor for 2cc's to start with and work up from there gradually so i can learn to adjust. Any thoughts or best practices to share?

    Depressed

Altho a generalization, some of us have learned to settle for less than we deserve because of our size didn't think we would find anyone else, or settled for someone who provided something we didnt think we could give ourselves. As we start to lose the weight and make the necessary changes, i think the idea of settling for something or someone may no longer be the choices we make. We will realize we no longer have to settle for anything. I anticipate making many changes in my life because I am beginning to realize they exit because they enabled the lifestyle that got me to 320lbs. That includes people, attitudes, how and where i spend my time. This might be the case for you also. Just know you deserve the best and that most inappropriate behaviors stem from insecurities and fear. Go for it and do not lookback.

    Depressed

I'm sorry you have to experience that. I hope you find the support you need here or elsewhere. Take care both physically and emotionally. Remember that you are worth it and are very brave to do whatever you have to do to get healthy. The easy way out, really? I need clarification....which part is easy? Pre-op diet? Post op diet? Dealing with post surgery gas ? Redefining my relationship w food?
  12. The process of learning healty habits will be difficult but is temporary and to be expected. The destination=a healthy, happy you is the goal and gets easier and is well worth it.
  13. Don't confuse the journey with the destination.

    pre-surgery nerves

Good for you. When i have those thoughts about not being able to gorge, i realize it is my dependency talking and not the healthy me who realizes that gorging one's self is a short term solution w long term consequences (all negative).

Ever have one of those days

I agree w prev posts. Don't dwell on a bad choice. Think about all the good ones you have made and dwell on and draw strength from them. Rock it!

    Soft Drinks

Don't you just hate that accountability thing? I've always suspected it is and has been highly overrated.

    Back to work question

I've been very fortunate w my healing process. Was banded 7/2 and only took pain meds twice to satisfy my partner. Gas was my main issue which i resolved by numerous trips to the mailbox. Have slowly increased distance but careful not to overdo and have followed diet to a T. Also doing breathing treatments in little tubbie thing. At work today and feel great. Funny side effect since surgery, everyone and i mean EVERYONE reaks of garlic. Strong garlic. Makes kissin the lil old (and young) ladies in church quite the experience. Go for first postop this Thursday. Hope to get on mushies. My kingdom for a tablespoon of pulverized tuna salad. Who knew, who knew!? Scales pointing to a WL of 30lbs but Dr will have final word on that. Good luck everyone. Take it one step at a time.

    low-cal yogurt

I just saw a commercial for Oikos Greek Yogurt new product. Dips made w the yogurt in French Onion, Roasted Red Pepper, Vegetable and Herb and Dill. Not sure of nutritional content but might be a way to season tuna, chicken, or other mushies if not as a dip w veggies. Has anyone tried them?

    Devastated

Way to go. See you in LBsville.
  23. Was anyone given a breathing tube apparatus that you inhale into to register a certain height that a sliding piece climbs as you inhale? It's supposed to keep me from getting pneumonia. 8 days 4x p/ day. Others I know who have had LBs were given this thing also. My question is that it causes soreness in my lungs. Anybody experience this?
  24. Neosporam-works well to keep from becoming infected and helps w scaring and is an over the counter ointment

Ever had a stare with a Golden Oreo?

Nice job of taking care of yourself by not giving in to a short-term treat.
