  1. Hi There, For some reason I just started getting notifications from Bariatric Pal again. But I am happy to connect with some of you fabulous ladies. My journey has been a long and painful one. I had Gastric Bypass in early 2001 with a staple line disruption 6 weeks later. They did a revision 6 months later. I had very little weight loss. I was getting married that following year so I worked really hard at it and lost 55 lbs. The day after my wedding I started creeping up again. I gained back every pound. I had a baby in 2006 and slowly crept back again. In June of 2013 I was at my witts end again. I decided to have the band over bypass surgery done. My doctor was not sure it would take.. But desperate and wanting to live my life and be active with my husband and son I did it. I lost only about 25lbs in 7 months. I felt defeated. Depressed and felt like this is clearly the way I am supposed to be. I ran into an old friend and she introduced me to a nutritional cleansing program. I get up every morning feeling energized, ready to conquer the world after a fabulous nights sleep. ( I have suffered from insomnia for many years). I have lost a total of 70lbs from my start before the lapband. Most importantly I am out of PLUS SIZE clothes and fit into an XL. I still have about 50 lbs to go but fir the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I know I will reach a healthy weight. Unfortunatley we can't get the nutrients from basic food anymore. It has been nutritionally altered with pesticides, herbicides and many other cides!! I write this to you to let you know that this is a great program for lap/band and gastric patients. If you would like more information please email me and I would be happy to share this with you. doreenturenne@comcast.net I wish you the best of luck... Stay strong. Doreen

    Scared-someone tell me it's ok

I understand. Was just looking to see if anyone had similar symptons. Lower right abdomen pain.. definitely feels like gas. And very soft stools for 2 days. I have only been eating protein shakes, yogurt, FFSF pudding, popsicles and lots of water.

  9. Hi There, Well my story is long....but I will try to make it short. I've been overweight my WHOLE life. I have lost 60lbs 10 times over. I had Gastric Bypass in early 2001 my starting weight was 280. Out 6 weeks I had lost about 25lbs. Out of the gate I knew I was able to eat more than other people that had this surgery. On the sixth week, I knew something was different. I was able to eat even more than I could following the surgery. I explained to my Doctor and he said I was fine and it was all in my head! I REALLY Hate when doctors say that. Don't you think you know your body better than anyone else? I pushed and he hesitated but sent me down for an Upper GI. When he walked in the room he was very solem and said we have a problem. I had a staple line disruption. So some of the food was slipping out of my pouch causing me to not feel satisfied. He wanted to wait at least 4 months to do a revision. I went back in August of 2012 and had what I thought was Roux en y. Mind you both of these procedures were OPEN. The stay for the 2nd surgery was much longer If I recall it was like 5 or 6 nights. I woke up in severe pain, very depressed and wondering if I did the right thing. Fast forward about 5 months and I struggled to take of and additional 40lbs. I STILL was able to eat more than others that had this procedure. I hit 212 and the next day I was 213 and up we went. For the next 11 years I was between 238-270.. I got married had a wonderful baby boy who is going to be 7 in August!!! I felt like such a failure.. Everyone would be like "didn't you have your stomach stapled" I was constantly on a diet. Tried to accept myself as I was but I was always so hard on myself and just didn't want to always be the FAT Girl. I started researching Band over Bypass procedures last October. Up until a week before my surgery I was still unsure if I was ready.. You know really ready.. I already knew what to expect and as much as I wanted to finally beat this I still loved food. Oh and I work/part owner in an Italian Restaurant just to add fuel to the fire.... So I had it done a week ago today June 7... I have lost 10 lbs to date. Iv'e been living on protein shakes, yogurt, and FF SF Pudding... I know it will slow down but I am thrilled with my progress. I think to myself... Is this gonna work or did I just do this for nothing. I tend to have bad luck like, every surgery I have had has not worked... ie 2 Gastric Bypass... still fat... Back Surgery...still have major back issues, 2 knee surgery's.... need a knee replacement eventually. So you can see I don't have the best record. I hope I can stay motivated.. I am committed to getting back to exercising, eating clean, being active and spending quality time with my family. I hope this forum will help me to stay focused.

    hi everyone

Im 7 days out. because of all my scar tissue due to my 2 prior procedures im still on Roxicet. It doesn't really help the pain it just masks it. I have also been on pain meds for the last 4 years off and on. I have had no problem at all getting down 3-4 shakes a day. plus pops and jello inbetween if I am hungry. Looking at everyone elses posts Im already wondering if this one too has failed. I at approx. 900-1100 calories a day with now problem at all. I have a lot of gas and have had started moving by bowels yesterday. Mostly soft stools border line diarrhea. I am down 11lbs and cant wait to be able to start working out. The rain has stopped (for a day) so I am excited to get some walking and activity in today....
