I need help with questions to ask the Surgeon
I am finally meeting with the Surgeon on Thursday morning and would like help with what questions I need to ask him. I will write them down so I don't blank and forget until after the appointment. I am having a lapband to gastric sleeve revision. I've been told that this surgeon is excellent and I feel very comfortable with having him do the surgery. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cpap blues
Time to make friends with your CPAP! Perhaps you could try a new mask. The first mask I had made me feel claustrophobic. Every morning it left its signature triangle shaped impression on my face that lasted until lunch time! I have since found a mask that is comfortable and non-invasive. The head gear has nasal pillows and does not involve my whole face. I like to sleep on my stomach, so I use a soft down pillow so that I can support my head and leave a hollowed out spot for my mask. No more marks on my face and no more claustrophobic feeling! Sleep apnea can cause serious health issues. A well fitted mask will help you have a better nights sleep. Good Luck!

Keeping my fingers crossed!
I really dislike the taste along with the idea of artificial sweeteners! They tend to be way too sweet and have a bad aftertaste. I've been searching for a flavored Protein shake without aspartame or sucralose and it's was not as easy to find as you may think. This morning I came across an article on clean eating that had a review on Protein shakes. The article mentioned the brand,Only Protein, so I checked out the website.... It sounds very promising! No aspartame or sucralose, it's sweetened with stevia. Only Protein offers just two flavors, vanilla & chocolate and I bought them both. I'm thinking of adding decaf instant coffee or PB2 to add variety. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope the shakes taste good and are not to sweet. In the past I have used half flavored and half unflavored Protein powder mixed it together which really helps cut down on the sweetness. With shipping and handling, it's a bit pricey. I am fortunate that my "Live free or die" State of New Hampshire does not have sales tax. Even so.... since I will need to supplement my diet with protein shakes, it's worth it to have one I like.

Well... The Truth Finally Came Out!
My husband is trying to be supportive? I am still pre-op, I have my meeting with the surgeon next week and will get my surgery date : ) I am successfully working on losing the required 15 pound weight loss. Just about every evening after dinner, my husband offers to make a run to McDonalds for a McFlurry. I politely say "no thanks". Last night he mentioned that he would like corn on the cob this week end. I told him that I would pick up a couple of ears for him... that's when the truth starting pouring out! "What am I supposed to do when you are on this restrictive diet after surgery?" "I'll never have a decent meal again" At this point, I was tuning him out... all I heard was..."blah,blah, blah, blah". So I had to reassure this very capable of cooking for himself if worse came to worse, man, that he would continue to eat even after my surgery. It's true that I did not have success with the lapband. After reading this forum on a regular bases, I realize that at the very least, I need to have the band removed before it causes damage to my insides (I already have nasty reflux). I get my support from all of you that are on the same journey and I am so grateful... thank you! My husband is under the impression that if the band didn't work, the sleeve won't either. He keeps telling me that he loves me the way I am. Well, I have what is starting to become a very long list of health issues...high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, diabetes (although, my last A1C was normal : ) I'm living with one kidney after I lost the other to cancer 8 years ago and I have sleep apnea. Without my beloved CPAP, I snore like a wild buffalo. I need to lose weight for my health. The nurse practitioner, who is the head of the bariatric program I attend, told me that having gastric sleeve surgery will greatly improve my metabolic disease. I am very encouraged! I want to live a long healthy life! Well... I'm off to go food shopping. I must remember to get hubby his two ears of corn!

"I'm praying for you!"
By saying "I'll pray for you" shows that they care about you and that you are in their thoughts. They are concerned and want the best for you. I could be a lot worse!

Chia seeds?
We11ro: Thanks for the web site for Chia seeds. I was at TJ Maxx the other day and they had them. I will have to go back and pick up a package. Fiddleman: Do you first mix the Chia seeds with Water and let it sit until it gels or put them directly into the blender with you Protein shake?
