  1. I went through something similar except, the Dr.'s office that I went through had another person's name (similar to mine), her DOB, and her address/phone. I told them when I went to My consultation they had the wrong info. They said they would change it.

Fast forward 6 months (right up to the Friday before my surgery) and they STILL had my information on half of my paperwork incorrect. I still had my surgery (on Tuesday) they told me it wasn't going to affect my surgery. Funny thing is there was another lady with my name (spelled a little differently), different DOB, and of course different address and phone. She was trying to have the surgery too. I hope after all that she got her surgery. I went through ALL my authorizations and made sure it was my info and not hers! CRAZINESS!!!

that's crazy! happy it ended well =]

  2. My insurance messed up my birthday. My birthday is january 24th and they put january 29th..I tried to fix it for months and each time they assured me it was taken care of. Now, 3 days before I get sleeved, I got a call from the hospital to inform me that there is an issue with my DOB. They went on to tell me that this might postpone my surgery. so now i'm freaking out because it's friday and my surgery is on monday, there is no way I can correct this in time.

Well I'm sure that everyone could answer these questions differently but here's my take:

    1. There wasn't really pain when I very first woke up but over the next couple hours just general soreness. I only asked for pain medicine twice while in the hospital for 30 hours.

    2. Nope, nakey, nakey.

    3. They will help you get there. Using it wasn't as hard as I expected, just lower and raise slowly.

    4. Use yours ARMS!! And support your abs with a pillow. And use you back muscles more, but they get sore so I like my heating pad. And don't BEND OVER to pick things up unless you have to. If so go very slowly.

Yours may be totally different but that's mine.

  5. Hi! My NUT thought I was crazy for wanting to become a vegetarian post op. I pressed her for info and she recommended unflavored soy Protein powder in everything. GNC sells it. She also said Beans, Beans, beans.

I'm not into eating dairy (I think that I may be lactose intolerant), eggs, pork or much beef. I can eat some chicken and fish sometimes, but I feel sick when I eat many animal Proteins. I also got kidney stones and don't want to overload my kidneys with animal Proteins and Calcium.< /p>

Soy does contain estrogens so that's something that you need to keep in mind. Testosterone is created from cholesterol (and other fats) in the middle of the night. If you want to keep up your free testosterone levels eat a Brazil nut six times a day (according to Tim Ferriss in the six hour body). I asked my NUT about this and she agrees.

I think that getting off grains (refined carbs especially) is the number one thing that is helping me lose weight. Not having my body constantly feeding me hunger signals what I'm most looking forward to post-op. Good luck on your journey.

ah, your nut seems more helpful than mine. that was some great advice. I can only stomach small portions of boneless chicken but i feel like crap after eating it. i'm also not friends with dairy but almond milk has been a big help. I wish you nothing but success on your journey =]

  6. I had been a vegetarian for 3 years, then I stopped for 3 years..now I feel like it's time to return to a vegetarian diet. however, my nutritionist strongly advised me not to go vegetarian until the summer. she said i need to get in a lot of Protein once i'm sleeved and it'd be harder as a vegetarian. I'm at the point where just looking at meat makes me want to throw up. I'll grill some chicken and stare at it wondering how the hell am i going to eat this. anyone else have this problem?

  7. I'm scheduled for the 13th and it really hit me today that in 10 days I will go under the knife for the first time in my life. it's scary but it's needed in order for me to keep the weight off. I was always able to lose weight but never able to keep it off. now my health is in decline and there is no better choice for me at this time. it's scary but we can do it =]

  8. I'm 6'4" and started at 340. I'm now at 208 and think I'm about where I want to be.

congrats on losing so much weight! have you had any issues with loose skin?

Haven't really had too much loose skin, at least not as much as I though I would. My skin is a little looser on my belly than I would like it to be, but let's just say I would much rather take my shirt off in front of people now, than I would have before surgery.

that's great to hear! I saw your before and after, you look great =]

  9. I'm 6'4" and and down about 95 pounds right now. 180 seems a little low. Have you done a body fat analysis? I did one and I'm finding my non-fat body mass is about 200. A normal body fat % for guys is about 18% so that means my "ideal" body mass would be about 240. Body fat analyzers aren't an exact science so it's just an estimate. 180 might be what you need to be, but maybe consider seeing what your non-fat mass is. Just my humble suggestion. Good luck on your journey.

thanks! the only reason why I considered 180 is because thats the weight I saw on this chart thingy. I have no idea what that looks like lol. I was thinking somewhere in the lower 200s would be good.
