Marchies In August

Hi Carol, I guess I've been rather lucky in that everyone that know's what I've had done has been wonderfully supportive, I made the decision right at the start that I was only going to tell those who were GENUINELY interested and who I knew would be positive and supportive of my decision. I haven't SO FAR felt like I'm in a bowl with everyone making judgements, hopefully I've been a good judge of character and only shared this experience with my TRUE friends. I've had them offer to walk with me, resize my clothes and be a 24hr talk line for me. I guess my true mates know what a battle I've had with my weight and health and they just want to help me achieve. I sure hope things pick up for you. Take care

    Marchies In August

Hi Marchies, Hope everyone's doing well and feeling fantastic as the weight is coming off. :whoo: I'm working fulltime again and what with that and my boys (hubby included) finding time to come in here and sit with a coffee and read all your wonderful inspirational stories is getting harder to do. I am feeling fantastic:clap2:, bit over 26 kilo's down and 3 dress sizes is overwhelming, I can't remember the last time I weighed this amount and felt this good. Motivation is higher with every positive comment I get now. I can't wait till June next year as my family has a wedding and I have cousins coming from the top of Australia who I haven't seen in 3 years by then. For once I'll be able to wear something I WANT to wear not something I have found to cover up. Keep up the wonderful progress everyone. Even if I'm not on here all the time I think of you all. Take care and keep shrinking... Hugs

    Marchies in July

Hi momlambert, I'm in need of another fill as it's been over two months as my doc has been on holidays. I know it's easier to eat what I do eat and I've just made it my goal to not eat more than I should or things I shouldn't. I'm still feeling hungry some days so looking forward to fill next Thursday. Cheers

    Marchies in July

Hello Marchies, I'm feeling sooooo guilty for not logging in here more... in my defence lol i'm back working fulltime. The family have all taken it well but haven't seen fit to help out much which is typical lol About 6 weeks ago I started walking with a friend after work and we're now up to 1 hour per day 5 days a week. Tuesday this week I finally joined the local gym and apart from being sore in places I previously didn't know existed, I feel wonderful. I told the trainer that I'd had the lapbanding done and I was worried that even with walking I wouldn't tone the area's I really needed too, I don't want to lose all this weight and still be uncomfortable to be seen with particularily my arms uncovered because of flabby skin. She's done me up a program targeting my thighs, tummy and arms. I go every week day for an hour in the mornings. So now i've gone from 0 exercise to 2 hours a day. If someone had told me 3 months ago i'd be doing this i'd have laughed as even a short walk would hurt and i'd find the smallest excuse to not go. I'm really looking forward to working on a new body, one i'm hoping will see me through to OLD age lol I hope everyone else is going well... Cheers

Hi Marchies,:whoo: Wow it's been such a long time since I was in here, will take me a month of Sundays to catch up on how everyone's doing and read all the threads. I've been away with the family as it's school holidays here, and only got home today. I have been doing really well and refraining from anything I know isn't good for me. I've found things are getting much easier to eat and I'm able to eat a fraction more than I was so feeling sure that when I go for my next fill on 26/07/07 I'll be more than ready for it. :clap2: Sure hope all's going well for you all, I look forward to reading your stories and sharing your weightloss journey's. Take care all, Cheers Lisa

Hi Susannah, Thanks so much for the encouragement. You should come on up to QLD, it's a beautiful place. Even when the weather sucks it's still a lovely place to see. Please let me know when that conference is as i'd like to go as well. Hope all's good with you and yours. Take care, Cheers

Hi Susannah, How ya going girl? Hope things are well for you. It's cold here but only just decided to get that way, thanks to the much needed rain we finally got last week. But it's only got to 2c thankfully. We have a wood heater so it's not too bad unless you have to venture out lol God I hate to think how cold it's gotten down there though. Cheers and take care, Lisa

    Marchies in June

Hi Marchies, Well it's a new week and things are going great. I'm finding I have more energy and actually look forward to working out ( very unlike the old me ) It's getting ruddy cold here, being June it should have been cold before this but it took the rain last week to bring on Jack Frost. I love winter though as it means Soups and stews and lighting our fire. I was only thinking this morning when I was getting dressed how much I am looking forward to wearing a nice pair of fitted jeans next winter. Haven't worn a nice pair since I was in my early 20's. Used to wearing elastic waisted one's that I wear a shirt over the top of anyway. Still don't think I'll give up the comfy ol' trackydaks for around the house. I hope you all have a wonderful week, you guys are all such an inspiration for me. :clap2: Cheers,

    Marchies in June

HI everyone,

Well it's been just over a week since my second fill and I've managed to get this far without a puke, I've worked out that the best thing for me to do is take a 1/4 of a teaspoon of food and walk away and do something, come back in 5 mins and take another. This way I'm not tempted to put more in my mouth before I should. Cold food isn't as bad as I expected lol This takes me half an hour or more to eat maybe a half cup of whatever but i get it down and near to none discomfort.

I was doing sooo well with my walking till it started raining, BUT we've had over 340 days since the last decent rain so KEEP POURING FROM THE HEAVENS!!!

For the first time in about 10 years I'm not UNDER 120kgs. It's a wonderful feeling and I'm looking forward to experiencing the feeling of UNDER 110kg and my goal before xmas to be UNDER 100kgs. If I reach this one before xmas it's a bonus!!

Hope you are all having a good week, Keep smiling, Keep losing and Stay positive.

GOOOOO MARCHIES!!

Cheers,

Hi all, This is the first time I've decided to set myself goals for the month. Before this I was just trying to survive the month. I am going to lose 5kilo's for June and walk for half an hour every day. This weekend is my sister's birthday so my husband and I and the boys are off to Gladstone to her house. We are all going bowling tonight with ALL the kids. GOD HELP US~~ hehehe You all have a fantastic weekend, keep smiling, keep positive and stay focused. Take care

Jachut, Congratulations girl. The dress sounds awesome. I agree you should buy it even if you don't go as after all the hard work to lose that weight, YOU DESERVE IT!!! Make sure you take a pic of you in it sometime and let the rest of us drool. Cheers,
  15. Another thing I found to help deal with the pain and gas is heat bags. Cheers

    Shoulder Pain

Hello all, I suffered with shoulder pain for the first 3 weeks after banding. It went away finally and I thought that would be the last of it. Now I've found that when I get a fill, back it comes for a few days. I've had 2 fills now and both times had this again. Anyone else find the same thing? Heat bags are a gift from god!!! Cheers,

First Post - A Sincere Plea

Hi Ross, I was banded on the 21st March 2007. I often have that same gurgling noise but must have got used to it as it either doesn't bother me anymore or doing it less frequently. I suffered with reflux and heartburn all my adult life but since having the band I've not had a single episode thankfully, guess each person is different. As far as the throwing up goes, I've only had a few episodes of this and usually it's not really a complete vomit, more like what's in the small stomach froths out. Only 2 times it's come from what feels like my toes lol and I've had no trouble with it getting out. Not sure if this is any help, please let us know how you go with these issue's. Take care and welcome too by the way Cheers

I had my second fill of .5mls today. Went well. My doctor was happy with the amount of weight i've lost so far. He's off for a month now so hopefully I won't have any problems while he's away as he is the only Doctor that does this in Rockhampton.

Hi all, Well today I'm off to the doctors for a second fill. Last night I had a bit of a scare with vomiting but all seems ok this morning. Will stick to fluids for 24 hours and discuss it with Dr Russell today and get his opinion. I'm not sure if I worry more about things because I'm nearly 2 hours drive from my doctor or just because I'm a worrywort lol Have a wonderful day all, Cheers,

    im taking the plunge

Hi Tanya, Good luck, I'm sure you will handle it fine as you already know how it goes and pretty much what to generally expect. Why did you have the fill's taken out though? I'm a newbie and due for my second fill tomorrow. Cheers

    New From GA

Hi Davies, I suffered with left shoulder tip pain for 3 weeks after the operation. I'm not sure if that's the kind of wind problem you are referring to. I found it was worse if I was sitting in the car driving for some reason. I even found a few times on longer trips I would have to stop and get out and walk around. I phoned my doctor's clinic and they told me to take pain medication if I needed too and it would eventially settle down. It's very common as the air they pump into your stomach during the operation is later trapped when they close you up again. Some people get it, some don't. I find I burp a lot as well, but thankfully the kind I can hide lol Hope this has helped you in some way. Cheers,

Hi Ange123, I was only banded on the 21 March this year so not really qualified to comment on how common slippages are BUT, when I spoke to my doctor about it before I had the operation he said that IF it happens it won't cost me again. I'm not sure if that's just his policy or the norm. He also told me that slippages are NOT common and if you follow their directions and don't overeat or vomit on a regular basis, this lessen's the chances. I hope this has put your mind to rest somewhat, if you still aren't sure, ASK THE DOCTOR what his policy is in regards to cost if it does happen. I paid for mine so I needed to know also that I wasn't going to be hit again for 1000's at a later date. Take care
