    No Noodle Vegetable Lasagna Recipe
    Ingredients for Original Recipe:
    Extra virgin olive oil spray
1 medium eggplant, trimmed, sliced lengthwise in 1/4-in thick slices
2 large uncooked zucchini, trimmed, sliced lengthwise in 1/4-in thick slices
    1 large egg, beaten
    3/4 pound part-skim ricotta cheese
Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
1/4 cup basil, fresh, cut into thin strips
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
4 cup pure marinara sauce, divided [Note: Use 2-3 cups for thicker lasagna. This is my preference!]
1/2 pound shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided.
    Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 400°F. Coat two baking sheets with olive oil spray.
Place eggplant on one prepared baking sheet and place zucchini on other prepared baking sheet; spritz vegetables with olive oil spray.
Roast 8 minutes; turn over vegetables and roast for 7 to 10 minutes more (total roasting time should not exceed 20 minutes or the vegetables will get too mushy); remove from oven and set aside.
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine egg, ricotta cheese, red pepper flakes, basil and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese; set aside.
When vegetables are done, reduce oven temperature to 350°F.
To assemble lasagna, coat bottom and sides of a 14×8 inch baking dish with olive oil spray. Spread a thin layer of sauce (about 1/4 to 1/3 cup) on bottom of pan. Layer eggplant over sauce (use all the slices, even if you have to overlap them). Cover eggplant with half of marinara sauce and then spread half of ricotta mixture on top; sprinkle with half of mozzarella cheese. Top mozzarella cheese with zucchini and cover zucchini with remaining marinara sauce; spread with remaining ricotta mixture, top with remaining mozzarella, then sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
Bake until the bottom starts to bubble, about 35 to 40 minutes. Remove lasagna from oven and allow it to rest for about 15 to 20 minutes.
    Slice into 12 equal pieces

Gary John reacted to kentx05 in Eating a Meal in 20 minutes?
    Hi friends,
Quick question here. The hardest part of getting back on track for me has been two things, 1. sugar, and 2. keeping my meals within 20-30 minutes. The manual given to patients at True Results-Houston says that we should finish our meals within 20 minutes ideally, 30 minutes max. It also says that what we put in our mouths should be pea sized. I find it very difficult to eat pea size pieces of food and finishing a meal in 20-30 minutes. It would take forever if that was possible. Not to mention that we have to chew our food into it is liquified. How are you guys taking this advice? Do you place pea size pieces of food when you chew and if you do, how do you finish it within that time limit?

Well I know that feeling chicken was one of my favorite foods to eat now if i eat any it must always have to be the dark meat, white is out to dry, as far as being full up i think i am starting to undrstand that part. most times when i think i am full i stop eating and wait, most times i find out that i am full and then i stop. if i do not stop i be running to the bathroom and food does not taste the same second time around..

How did your fill go Gary? I am struggling... I had my surgery in December I'm now at 3ccs but I feel like I need more... I'm starving half the time. And I feel like my weight loss should be more significant.

Re-educating yourself to slow down, eat small and chew big is one of the hardest things for bandster's to do. I was in the green zone 7 months post op but thought I too was too tight so I had a small unfill. Mistake. I just needed to learn to eat like we were told to eat from our nutritionist.
It took me 10 months to figure out how to eat right and I still get stuck at least once a week. Not nearly as bad. Most times I feel the pressure and back off for 3-5 minutes to let the food pass.

SO Excited. I am finally dropping. I think I have it the green. I am at 5.4 cc in a 10 cc band after my last fill.
BUT I am really struggling with getting things stuck. I know part of it is eating too big of a bite, but it really happens without me thinking; Esp. for my evening meal. But I also struggle with eating too fast esp. during my evening meal as well. But I have managed to get stuck several times since my fill last Wednesday.
I don't want to go back and have Fluid taken out until I know that I am just too tight. But does anyone have suggestions for remembering to cut food up really small, and chew really thoroughly and eat slow, especially when talking or trying to operate on a time line?

You're losing more than 3.5 lbs per week which is insane if not for the fact that the first 10-15 lbs is just Water. All the literature, every doctor, every experienced lapbander will tell you that if you lose 1-2 lbs per week you're right on track.
Most banders cannot eat steak. It will probably be one of those foods you will have to give up. I can't eat steak unless it's a tenderloin and the bites are the size of a marble. We have tenderloin maybe twice a month. Tenderloin is expensive($17/lb) but can be found in the last day bin($11/lb) in the meat department in small sizes. And since I can only eat 4 ozs of the stuff, it ends up being a bargain.
Hamburger goes down with no problem though. Roast chicken not so much. You're going to find that there are certain foods that will be problematic. Deal with it. That's the way it's going to be. Sucks, but what are you going to do?
Remove the word "FULL" from your vocabulary when it comes to food. If you reach full, you've gone too far. We look for satiety signals that tell us when to stop eating. Signals like, burping, hiccups, sighs, yawns, coughs and the feeling you don't find the food appetizing right now.
Satiety signals can and are usually very subtle signals. They don't jump out and grab you. You must slow down during the meal and look for it. There are some apps for cell phones that time you but that's not what works for me. I have to pay very close attention or I eat past the signal. You will too, so start watching for the signals.

Great share Gary because it is pretty important to know that your "output" is as regular as your input. I have noticed that I actually feel pretty sluggish and Miralax is my magic bullet.
I get my first fill on the 11th and I am pretty ready for it. I have gone from 267 to 250 for the month of February which is awesome but I can eat way more than I should in order to stay full 3-4 hours. At any rate, school has started for me and I just need make sure I stay on track with eating and get to the gym. Stay positive everyone!

Well I hope your next fill is more successful for you. How much do they put in at a fill, is it standard or does it varies from person to person?
I have anesthesia this afternoon and then my procedure is only 1 day and a wake away!!! I hope I get to leave the same day but if I have a hiatal hernia, which Dr. Robbins suspects that I do because of the medications I currently take, then I will have to stay over night since that is the only way my insurance will cover it. It doesn't bother me either way, I rather have everything addressed while I am opened up then to have multiple procedures anyway!

I love Dr. Robbins as well. Was banded Jan. 22nd & will be getting 1st fill in a little over a week. I think we have a very good team and are pretty lucky to be working with people who are passionate about understanding the issues of obesity and get the huge component of emotional/addiction eating.
