Once again, appreciate the advise Gary! I did the pre registration online this morning. Yesterday was like a mad house in there....the liver class, then seeing Dr. Robbins plus people coming in and out for fills...you would think they would use the conference room next door to do the classes. Just waiting for anesthesia to call and will go pick up my lovenox tomorrow or Monday from the pharmacy. I have had to take it before so the little class Jane or Alta gives will be a refresher! 6 days to go!!!

Thanks for the response Gary! I have been smoke and carb free for a week tomorrow. It sucked the first couple of days but I just keep reminding myself that I AM ready for the changes to come! I think I am going way better with the not smoking than the no carbs...not losing much weight but hopefully enough to keep my surgery date. Going to start the liquid diet tomorrow since my pending date is the 12th (good thing I am not attending any Super bowl parties). Fingers are crossed and lips are shut! LOL

In my case...I am rarely hungry...and have little to no interest in food...I Have to remind myself to eat most days....and when I do eat, there is a limit as to how much I can eat...my portions are limited. But it does not bother me because I'm not hungry in the first place....
I no longer count calories, nor worry about portion sizes....
Sounds weird, the only way I can explain it is.....
Imagine you have been eating everything in sight, say at Thanksgiving...all day long to the point it hurts.....some one offers you another piece of pie and you say "No Way...I don't even want to look at food ever again I am so stuffed"
Well, for me, the mere presence of the band (adjusted) sends signals to my brain, telling it I am full, satisfied, whatever....to the point I cannot eat anymore, no desire or interest in food, and no hunger either....but I do not have the physical feeling of feeling full...and never have since being banded...
Many people say they look for the feeling of being full with the band...I'm still not sure what the means exactly...
It is all mental, because I feel that way even if I have not eaten in 24 hours...which I have done occasionally since being banded..(but that's another story).
And because of that, I have no real cravings...I can look at something and take it or leave it....although I may take a bite because I am interested in the taste...someone may have put a lot of effort in preparing it....
It took me about 4 months to get to that point, and then another 6 months to figure out what was going on, and develop a new lifestyle with it...
I should add that the first 6 months after surgery were extremely hard for me, and very frustrating to say the least....thought I made a BIG mistake and even wished I never had the surgery.
But that has all changed now....it's absolutely a miracle!

Hi! I am about to give TMI here, but yes, I did my injections. They burn a little, but not bad. For some reason, between the surgery and lovenox, my TOM came faster. I wasn't sure whether to continue the shots or not...(this was post op). Im a big Auburn fan and Dr. Robbins is a Bama fan. I told him I was glad he wasn't operating on me when that last play of the Iron bowl was happening lol.
But back to lovenox, it wasn't that bad really. a little burn.
I did feel like crap the first day or two after surgery, but that is to be expected. I also am allergic to surgical glue and had a bad rash where my incisions are.....But, all in all, it was not bad.
I remember being wheeled into the operating room and seeing the big lights over me....and then.......nothing untiil I woke up. I was horse when I woke up bc of the tube

I have very positive things to say about the staff and Dr. Robbins. I do call them probably more than they do me, but I know they are busy. Plus,I only have me to think about and they have lots of folks to think about. I am supposed to go for my first fill in early January, so right now, I am in a little bit of "bandster hell", but not too bad.
I had a bad allergic reaction to the surgical glue (who knew??) but otherwise I am ok.

So far I'm impressed with the staff/team at the office. Has anyone else had Dr. Robbins? Im currently following the 3 month plan. Just wondering how soon after the 3 months you were scheduled for surgery.

i am sorry i didn't respond to you and you started this thread. i am wondering if your band has a leak. where you might think you are at 10.2 cc, perhaps you are not. a mistake i hear about a lot is that you actually have a 14 cc band. ask to see the surgical report. on your next appointment asked that the Fluid get withdrawn to make sure there is 10.2 cc. now someone once posted that he had the right amount of Fluid but that the fluid was collecting only on one side of his band. i haven't needed one but perhaps a fluroscope while you drink would allow the doctor to see how restricted you really are. once you get this band thing straighten out you need to put on your thinking cap and try and remember why you had wls in the first place. i know you were gungho than and you can get some of that back. perhaps a counseler. we didn't get overweight for no reason at all. we all have food issues. don't give up. get this band thing worked on. something is wrong.

I was hesitant about the injections also, I had my husband do them for me and believe it or not, they are easier than I thought. Seriously, just a bitty pinch. The needle is tiny. Hopefully you will have someone willing to do them for you. Once you have your first one, you will see what I mean.
Best wishes on your upcoming procedure. I go for my second fill Tuesday. So far I am not feeling much restriction and relying on my will power. Looking forward to my appointment. I am so ready not to be so hungry all the time!

Banded October 30 and had my first fill yesterday 11/26. Arrived at the office and weighed in with vitals. Escorted to the sonogram room where the nurse got a good look at my port, she mentioned they only sonogram on the first fill visit and notate the depth of the port in the chart. She also numbed the area with lidocane ... and itty bitty pinch. The doctor came in and explained the process of the fill to me, happy with my progress. He felt the port under my skin, had me do a crunch hold position and placed the needle in the port, BTW didn't feel a thing. He drew what was in my band into the syringe that already had my scheduled fill inside, checking for leaks, and refilling my band with the syringe. I got a 1.2cc fill at surgery and 1.4cc's yesterday. For a total of 2.6cc in my 10cc band. I thought a 1.4 cc fill was on the low side, but I would rather have small fills so that I can feel what the restriction feels like. Sat in the waiting room until I drank at least a half a bottle of Water. Then I scheduled my next fill on 12/17. Easy enough. My doctor only required liquids on the day of the fill, today I am back to my chunky foods.
So thankful for my band! Excited to meet the me that's under all this fluff! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Glad your first fill was a breeze! It can be somewhat overwhelming for some seeing a big needle being stuck into their abdomen!
