  1. Hello! I had my surgery on the 9th this is my first day on full liquids!

After surgery I was sore and had trouble laying on my sides or getting in and out of bed... that only lasted about 3 days. I can do those things fine now without help but it is still a little sore when I transfer from time to time. I take my pain medicine (Roxicette) every 6-8 hours. I am able to take it every 4 but I am trying to cut back and stop taking it. When I go so long, I get a burning sensation in my incisions and pressure in my upper abdomen. This is no where near as bad as I thought it would be - I will say that. But there is some discomfort. My biggest complaint is the gas in my belly. I feel like I have diarrhea but not much is happening. I figure as I incorporate food - it will get better. I may call and ask if I can take something to help with this. I have been walking around the house, on day 6 I went to the store with hubby to get supplies for week 2 and I thought I would die. Definitely too much walking and I was very sore. Week one I had no sugar added popsicles, beef broth (chicken was a lil bland), sugar free Jello, apple juice (not diluted bcuz I am hypoglycemic), and flavored Decaf tea. I lost 12.2 lbs! (wow)

This is the first day of my full liquids and so far I had 1/2 c cream of wheat with tsp light brown sugar (it was gross plain), 8 oz apple juice, now i'm drinking my 8 oz choc Protein Powder with skim milk. So far so good. I am not starving or suffering uncontrollably. I agree with the other lady, all you think about is what is going to go in your mouth and how much and what time is it bla bla bla. I am very excited about this journey and to see how I do once I start incorporating solid foods. I think that is where the real challenge will come in.

    Good luck everyone!

  2. When I had my tubes tied I suffered from shoulder pain for weeks! Now after the lapband I feel lucky to not have that experience. However, I wonder if the gas just got trapped in my belly because that is where all of my discomfort is... I am still super bloated and have difficulty passing gas or consuming enough liquids for the day due to the "full" feeling. I hope it goes away soon because it does not feel good. (it is tolerable though...)

  3. Hey! First of all congrats on the weight loss so far! I would think that going back on "normal foods" and working out would slow the weight loss process. You are building muscle and giving your body more nutrition. I am at the end of my first week post op and dropped about 10 lbs! However, I know it is mostly because I am on Clear liquids only and there is a possibility I may go up a little as I incorporate food into my diet again.

It's a difficult journey but just keep doing what you are supposed to do (diet/exercise) and the weight will come off I am sure! We can't let the little set-backs disappoint us too much because that is when you fall off the wagon.

    Good luck!

    Hello
I'm 8 weeks post op the doctor released me for normal activity.
I've worked out for at least an hour everyday last week and this week, however I have gained a pound. I don't get it. What an I doing worng?

  4. I would be afraid to do anything without consulting the dr. I think this is a great site for tips or ideas to communicate with others in similar situations, but you have to make sure you heal properly. I am on my last day of Clear liquids and luckily I haven't been starving like I thought I would be. I drink Water, apple juice, beef broth, sugar free Jello, and sugar free popsicles. I start Protein shakes tomorrow on my full liquid diet. I cannot wait because yogurt and cream Soups seems more like "food". Today is the first day I've craved food probably because family members are cooking sausage :( If you absolutely cannot do it, please call your doctor's office for advice before doing anything just to be safe.

    Good Luck to You!

  5. How about something at the spa like a manicure or hair style? You could also go to the movies or something, take your own healthy Snacks in your purse. It's sad but we always Celebrate with food! Whether we go out to eat or have a family gathering. I'm newly banded so I have not considered how to Celebrate. I think I will do it by buying a new outfit for my new body! (money permitting lol)

ok I am making progress and want to reward myself for making little goals like a ten pound weight loss I am getting a pedicure. But beyond that I can t think of anything and it can not be food related any ideas?????

  6. How long should I expect this stomach bloating? I am on day 7 after surgery and my stomach is still bloated and I constantly have a "full" feeling. The first couple of days I had watery stool.... now I honestly feel like I have diarrhea... but when I go to the restroom, nothing comes out but forced farts. Sorry for being gross but it is what it is. How long should I expect this? I was thinking of asking the doctor if I could take Pepto Bismol or something, but figured it was a process I just had to go through. I remember people complaining about this but wasn't sure how long it would last. I have been walking as instructed and following clear Fluid diet as well. I go on full liquids tomorrow (yay).

    Thanks!

  7. Well I have one more day and I move up to full liquids.

Mostly this week hasn't been too bad. I have not been starving like I thought I would be and having a difficult time getting all my liquids in because I constantly feel extremely bloated! I have walked around the house trying to get the gas out of my stomach with little success. The pain isn't unbearable but took a few days before I could lay on my side. The heating pad is my SAVIOR and I lay it on my tummy while in bed.

For those of you who may be hypoglycemic (like me) I got permission to sip apple juice regular strength and I also kept some hard tack candy available to suck on in emergencies. Otherwise, its been fine! I prefer the beef broth (in taste and satisfaction) and the no sugar added fruit bar popsicles. Tomorrow is my 7th day on Clear Liquids and I am down 9.3 lbs since surgery! (wow)

This medication makes me a bit light headed so I am trying to stretch the times I take it, but it is necessary or I feel pain in my lower back or some burning in my stomach. I went to the grocery store this evening to stock up on supplies for the upcoming week and was suffering BIG TIME. I guess it was too much too soon.

Going to lay down now - will continue with week two of this journey!
