Yes i really appreciate that i had to go thru 6 months of check ups and education to learn as much as i can prior to being banded and i STILL dnt know everything. Ive read it is important to go slow and chew well. That shuld usually take care of the problem if not i guess u have to look at what u r eating and maybe ur stomach cant handls it

The biggest help tome was a heating pad for my tummy. Also stock up on broth (beef was most soothing to me), sugar free popsicles and Jello, i drank apple juice too for my sugar bcuz im hypoglycemic. A lot of pplrecommend gas x but i just used that for the first time in week 2.

How long after surgery do u get ur first fill? I have a follow up with the surgeon Thursday which would be 2 weeks after surgery. Just wondered if i would get one or is she just checking my incisions and such.

Ya i was thinkin that too bcuz the book said 6 weeks ti heal so that band doesnt slip. I think its more than just how we feel. But def ask bcuz there may be some other things u can start doing

I looooove bicycling! I used to go on this trail by the river every single day. However, my knee started hurting so bad like I couldn't do it anymore and that is when I found out I have osteoarthritis. I just got banded on the 9th and I am hoping once I lose a little weight I will be able to bike again with less pain to the knee.
Feels so good to feel that wind on ya, music in your ears... so peaceful and a great workout! Boy I miss it. By spring I am going to try it again.
15 mile and 1 hr 20 minute bike ride. Burned off 1179 calories.

Definitely wait on your doctor's approval. Everyone is different in the healing process and you don't want to hurt yourself. We got plenty of time to work out after we are all better lol
Hi everyone, am two weeks post-op now and feeling so much better. I'm really keen to get back to the gym but wondering if I should leave it another week to make sure everything is healed and settled in before I go for a work out? I feel fine, but you never know whats going on under the skin and it might need leaving another week. I'm just curious to know how soon after surgery others started working out again? Did your routines change at all? I don't have as much energy as before, so am really going to need to start slow and build up to what my pre-banded routine. Will give the Dr an email today to confirm with him too that it's ok to go back to working out....curious to see how others found it though?

Yes I would talk to the nutritionist... it seems quite depressing to hear that you guys are stuck at a certain weight for such a long period of time with the band!? I realize that this process will not necessarily happen over night and it takes hard work and effort for the band to work properly. But I cannot imagine that if you are following the diet/calorie intake and working out that much and seeing no result in years? There must be something missing here...

Congratulations on the weight loss! I hear quite a few people complain about Peanut Butter - which is a bummer because I love it! I'm still on full liquids so I don't know yet what I can and cannot tolerate. I'm sure the journey will be worth the outcome! I lost 12.2 lbs my first week, of course I know that's because I only had broth and popsicles lol
Either way, I'll take it!

Hmm I do not understand why your physician wouldn't tell you how many cc's are in your band? I haven't had a fill yet but most all bandsters on here know what they have. If you say you are inquisitive, maybe he knows you stress over this type of thing and want you to focus more on how you feel and how much you can eat so you aren't so worried about how many cc's you have?
My doc won't tell me how much is in there or how much he recovered or put in. Im kinda aggravated but maybe it's a good thing. He knows im very inquisitive about all thing medical and ESP my band. I think he doesn't want me to be obsessive about it? Im not really that way just curious really. I don't know, I feel that this is mine and I have a right to know but he won't tell. I love him to pieces but this is annoying me.

That is a good question I would like to know as well, being newly banded. The book states that you will feel pressure under your rib cage and once you feel like you are a comfortable "full" do not eat any more.
My first week I was so bloated I had a hard time getting all my liquids down. I think it was the gas as well, but I guess we will get used to it and learn that full feeling in time. I do know that most bandsters say if you can eat more than a small saucer of food then you may need a fill in your band because you should not be able to eat much more than that at one time.

My surgeon told me I would not feel any restriction yet because the band went in perfectly. I have my first follow up appointment on Thursday. Will I get a fill then? or what is the usual time frame before the first fill?
I actually have 3 appointments set up already.

I had more of an issue with pants than the bra. Just wear a comfortable bra and the line will actually rest above the incision. Other than pajama pants, I have one pair of loose fitting sweats with a comfortable waist line. . My stomach was achy and bloated making my other pants feel tight. That hurt me more than the actual incisions. Just pull your waist line below your belly. Or better yet wear night gowns if you are staying home.
My incisions are in places that make me worry about rubbing. One small one between my lower breasts...afraid to wear a bra. Then what about pants there are several incisions there too. They don't hurt, but I am afraid of them opening. How long should I wait?

I think the exact experience is different for everyone. It wasnt bad as i thought. Obviously there is a little discomfort in the abdomen. I couldnt lay on my si

I was the same way. I am on week 2, full liquids and just stopped feeling so full and bloated. I think most of that was gas from surgery. I was fine in the beginning but the past few days i been feeling the hunger. I think its bcuz we r healing but lack the fills so we dont have the feeling of restriction. I try to continue drinking to keep myself full.

Wow everyone is different! I couldnt walk a mile right after surgery no way! And i have steri strips so i have to let them come off on their own. Sounds lie ur recovering nicely wtg!

Aw that sucks! I was lucky mine ended like 3 days before surgery. Hang in there!!!! Those cravings r brutal

I feel you! The first week on clear liuids was surprisingly easy for me as far as hunger. Once i hit day 9 or 10... I started getting a little famished. Dr said i wont feel much restriction yet either cuz i havent had a fill yet. I think im mostly filling up on all these liquids we r supposed to sip all day

Thank u all for ur responses. I am on day 10 after surgery, first few days i had watery stool, now much of nothing and stomach is still real bloated. I took some gas x gels this morning because almost EVERYONE on the site talks about taking them. I nvr hear anyone talking about pepto. My dr only discussed major meds not to take like ibprofin. Theres noone in office amd i didnt want to call emergency line lol i will try those xhair exercises and see if the gas x helps. Thanks!!

Can i take pepto bismol? Like that wnt hurt the band will it? I have serious gas pains thats suddenly got worse and no one in the office at this hour for me to ask. Ouch desperate

Wow what kind of work do u do???? I expect to be off 4-6 weeks but i have a very physically demanding job. I had my surgery the 9th and i dont feel that i would have enough energy to work right now. Please be careful that u dont hurt yourself.
You are ahead of me so i cant give u tips on the PB... But i have read that it can be risky for bandsters bcuz its so thick it could get stuck
