  1. I'm worried about the liquid phase. If I have my surgery as soon as possible, it will be early September. This means ill be on liquid diet during a retreat I'm organizing at work. It is at a resort that had wonderful food. I will need lots of encouragement !!!
  2. Whether you tell anyone is a personal choice. I'm a blabber and tell everyone! The upside is by telling others you might be offering the encouragement they need to get one too! Just thimk of yourself as a public service lol. I completely understand not wanting to report to coworkers or feel like someone is judging your every bite. Sometimes, while I hate it, it can be a good thing. I do think reading the lapband book is GREAT advice. Some interest things I have read: that anti inflammatory drugs like aspirin can erode the band. That you will not be able to burp. That you should not have solid food for first 3 wks after band, that one meal is 20 small bites. Chew for 20 seconds and wait a full minute between bites. Its the 20-20-20 rule . 20 bites, 20seconds, take 20 minutes to eat. My lapband place gave me a book to read.

    Met my surgeon

I am 5'5" and was 235 at my last weigh in. I am type 2 diabetic and have high blood pressure, sleep apnea. I'm looking to have lap band surgery in September. Sadly no one has called me skinny and I wouldn't buy it if they did. I'm not able to wear my size 16s and don't have many 18s in the closet. I cannot wait to get started with the weight loss. I have first meeting with a personal trainer on monday. Just signed up at the gym too......

    How do you celebrate?

I'm not banded yet, so I'm not celebrating yet either, but when I was doing well on a diet plan a couple years ago, I had a friend who wanted to buy me something for every 5 pound increment. She asked me if I wanted chardonnay! !!! Haha. I told her I would end up losing the same 5 pounds over and over. I suggested instead she get me a new bottle of nail polish!! I do like little shiny "treats" like beads or earrings too

    May banders!

Hi chastity, congrats on 12 pounds already! I am very surprised you are eatting solids only one week post-op. In the book provided by True Results it is three or four weeks before solid food is introduced. This gives the stomach time to heal. I understand the band is stitched into place? If that is correct then it makes sense that bending over for first two weeks may not be so pleasant. Please keep me updated. I hope you are feeling better and better ever day. How much weight do you hope to lose?

    May banders!

I'm going thru tru results in houston too. Looking to get band by end of sept.
  7. I am anticipating a band in September. I also have issues with snacks. The best way for me to control the snacks is to avoid completely. If I have one treat I want another and then I'm still not satisfied. I ask myself before taking a bite, really? You want ONE cupcake? Why not a half? How much is it really going to take for me to feel like I've had enough? I lije the brushing teeth idea. Gum helps too. I also rwad somewhere that when u are craving sweets, a lot of times your Body really is trying to ask for water. The BOOK I read says NO SNACKS, NOT EveN A PIECE OF FRUIT. Further it says if you are hungry, see about a fill. Let me kmow what works for you. you can do this!
  8. Hi, I'm curious now that you have had band a couple more weeks, are you having any success? I do agree that low carb is better. I had great success on the quick weight loss diet plan. But was not able to maintain the loss because I gave up and went back to pizza and donuts. .... I'm looking to be banded in Sept. And am wondering how it will work for me. I'm 49. Perimenopausal and planning to exercise but don't like the idea.

    I cant burp !!!

I am pre-op, and I received a book to read from lapband clinic. The book addresses both of your issues. The gas pain is from the anesthesia and no you probably won't burp with the band in place. The book says the post op gas pain will go away on its own, and it didn't offer solution to not being able to burp. Let me know how you are feeling, now that a couple more weeks have passed. I'm interested in what is in store for me too!
