    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

What is your work out schedule like? I'm at a stall with you so I feel your pain. I'm not eating nearly enough protein so I'm working on that.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I had my lab band revision to sleeve on July 30th. 4 days post op I started having awful diarrhea (7-10 x per day) and today it's continuing. I'm also having pain every time I swallow liquid as it goes down. I'm scared. When I got my band I didn't have nearly as many problems.
  5. I've been banded since Oct 2012. After only losing 50lbs and gaining 10 back my Dr recommended the Sleeve for me. I'm scheduled for my revision the 30th of this month. If you have had a revision I would love to know your starting weight before revision, and progress. (With time frame) also how do you feel? My current weight is 218lbs. I hope to lose 60lbs.

Proper Calorie Intake while VERY Active

It's been a while... Since I had all of the fluid removed out of my band I lost about 8lbs the. I found it again. I've been eating non stop. My Dr called me today and scheduled the revision for July 30th. They will remove my band and I'll have the sleeve. I'm SO relived! I feel so happy! I'll keep you posted as to what happens after!
  7. I am at a standstill in my weight loss journey, and have been for about a year. I was banded in Oct 2012 (260lbs) and I am now stuck in between 210lbs-220lbs depending on the time of the month. I maintain a very active lifestyle. I've never been so active in my life. I strength train with weights 3-4 times a week, as well as walk/jog 4 miles a few times a week. I also try to get in 30 minutes a day of cardio via a DVD or class. According to what most fitness experts say, I should be eating 2200 Cal per day in order for my body to be able to burn fat and not store it. We all know how crazy that sounds in the lap band world. 2200! Yea right! I'm beginning to wonder, if perhaps I'm not giving my body what it needs however, and if that is why I haven't been losing any weight. I typically consume 900-1200 Cal per day. 80-100g of Protein per day. I'm so frustrated. I have an appointment with a new Dr. this week to make sure my band is in the proper place.. I only have 4cc's and I can feel all of my food in my esophagus when I eat. I have another 50lbs to go and I can't get this weight loss train moving again. I'm wondering if I'm not eating enough. -Paula

my first and last dumping experience!

I have a band, so no sleeve but I "dumped" for months before my dr realized I had celiacs disease. Gluten can cause that in many people.. But as far as the sleeve, my best friend has it and "dumps" with any form of sugar. I'm in the process of switching to the sleeve and I suppose time will tell if I'll have that issue too.

Proper Calorie Intake while VERY Active

Hi all! Just an update, it's been a little over a week with no fluid. I have gained 2lbs. I'm not surprised considering the week before I lost 9 from being on liquids. The struggle is real! Trying to make good food choices, but I'll admit I have slipped up here and there. Endoscopy scheduled for next Thursday. Then we will know if the band is in the correct place. If not I'll have it out and get the sleeve. If it hasn't slipped.. I'm not sure what I'll do.

    Is it true?

I currently have a band and am considering the sleeve. Starting weight 260, band was put in oct 2012. Today (may 2014) I'm around 210. It fluctuates 5-8lbs. I've been stuck at this weight for A YEAR. I'm curious of everyone's starting weight and loss with their revisions.

Proper Calorie Intake while VERY Active

I will say I'm happy I got the band because I would have been well into the 300lb range by now without it. This allowed me to get enough weight off to become active. However, looking back I would have gotten the sleeve. I've been held back a year in progress all the while suffering with the band

Proper Calorie Intake while VERY Active

Yes I was already tight and putting more in was a mistake. I've lost 10lbs since Wednesday because I couldn't eat! For the past two days I couldn't even get fluids in. I went today and had them take ALL Fluid out. (It feels amazing). I'm taking this time (1 month until my follow up) to really test myself. I will maintain my workout schedule but FINALLY be able to eat without being in pain! I'm nervous about gaining, and really have to discipline myself... I don't want to go buck wild and gain 30lbs. But man did it feel good to eat Breakfast and not have pain. I'll keep you posted on my progress.. And it will be interesting to see if I can lose without fluid.

Proper Calorie Intake while VERY Active

Hi Guys! I had my appointment with my new Dr. yesterday. I like him. Unlike my previous Dr, who told me I must be eating too much, or not chewing my food enough for the past YEAR, this Dr. intends to problem solve with me. He started out by telling me that he would have never put the band in me to begin with, as he doesn't offer that anymore. He said the band originated in France, and since then, they have stopped doing it all together in France. He said the band is too ineffective. It has such small results, and too much maintenance. This wasn't great to hear... especially since my mother, husband, and best friend all had the Sleeve, and have had great success with it. I have always questioned whether or not I made the right choice.. now I'm pretty sure I didn't. But here we are, with the band in, so let's see if we can make this work. He ordered an endoscopy. He said that way we will know exactly where the band is placed, and if it indeed slipped up below my esophagus. If it did, he recommends taking it out and doing the sleeve. When I asked him about my calorie consumption, based on my activity, he couldn't really answer. He referred me to their nutritionist who I will see in the next couple of weeks. He said that because my BMI is a 38 and in order to be approved for surgery you need a BMI of 40.. if I gained a little, I could get the sleeve even if there isn't a "problem". He is really pushing for the sleeve. I don't know that my insurance will cover a second surgery without there being a problem, but boy is that tempting. I've experienced what the sleeve can do through my family and friends, and to know that I could be thin in a matter of months, is so tempting. I've done what I've supposed to do and have only lost roughly 40lbs in 1.5 years with the band. I'm tired of the struggle. I chose the band knowing that it would take time, years. I'm ok with that, but when there hasn't been ANY loss in a YEAR it's completely discouraging. So he took all the Fluid out to see what was in, and there was 5cc's. He put it all back and added .25 cc's. I'm a bit tight, but I can still eat and drink if I take it slow. I will get the endoscopy, and meet with the nutritionist and take it from there I guess. I would like to make the best out of the band, but if the sleeve is actually an option, I may go for it. I'm not confident in my ability to go without help of surgery. i know myself, and I know I need something.

Thank you @@princessheather! It's good to hear that there is hope! I live by myfitnesspal, and fitbit so I track, track, track. I've gotten so frustrated in the past couple weeks that I stopped. My band restricts me for sure, most of the time my food gets stuck after 2 bites and I have to vomit it up. This is why I think it's in the wrong place. I can't wait to see this new Dr!

    Sweets

This is my biggest downfall!! I'm restricted when I eat and my meals are healthy and full of protein but then come 6pm I'm wanting sweets! Sweets always go right down with no problem too!

Looking for some banded pals! My screen name is prondeau on myfitnesspal. It's a good way to track your food and activity... I ned to get back on track. Add me if you use it!
  19. Do you use myfitnesspal.com?
  20. Why aren't you able to eat all of your calories? Is your band too restricting?
  21. Hey ladies.. I was banded in October 2013 and have had about 5 small fills since. I am extremely active (jogging, Zumba, and roller derby 4-5 days a week) so I thought I should be eating more calories than the 600-800 that my dr suggested. I am losing but very slowly.. Maybe 4-5 lbs a month. My Dr. Days it's because I'm eating too many calories. He says the same rules apply now that did in the beginning and always will for someone with a band. Eat only a 2oz portion size when you sit down for a meal, and make sure you eat the Protein first. Then wait 5-10 minutes and if you are still hungry eat 2 more oz. that should be enough. Im 8 months post op and STILL have trouble doing this. I expect to eat like I used to and over do it. I also enjoy protein shakes but my dr says to eat 2 oz of solid food in the am so it will keep you full, then have a shake in between Breakfast and lunch. He said the shakes will slide right through and won't keep us full. Hope this is helpful... I know its a good reminder for myself since I struggle everyday with this myself.

Wow! That is a lot of weight in a few months! How did you do it? Have you even had time for fills yet? I'm wondering how many cc's are in your band currently. I'm only down 45lbs since Oct 2013 and am struggling to get in the green zone.
