Went back to work today
Well, I had the band put in on Friday.. Made it through the weekend. I'm lucky that monday's are my short days, I teach until 10. I made it to work this morning by 7:30.. just drank hot tea. Didn't want to be farting in front of my students. The driving took a bit out of me. I need to keep a pillow in the car between me and the seatbelt. and Potholes suck. Aside from that I made it through 2 hours of class. I'm winded, and tired, but more from the driving to and from, than work itself. Not really in any pain, more discomfort than anything else. I slept great last night, only woke up once to pee and shift positions. Almost able to sleep on my side. Can hardly wait tell I can!

Hi, New to the Board
The pain hasn't been too bad. I took Darvocet day one, but nothing since, except tylenol once, Today my pain has been more related to the incision site. I find myself guarding my stomach and walking stooped over, not a good thing, so I'm trying to not let it bug me too much and to stand up straight. I'm starting to get hungry, and have the runs a bit. I've walked around the block twice today, and I just trying to keep hydrated. I did have about a tablespoon of yogurt, as I'm paranoid about a yeast infection. Aside from that I'm following the Dr. orders to the letter.

Hi, New to the Board
Welcome. I'm one day behind you. I too am doing it to take control of my health instead of watching it slip away from me. I hope you will keep posting as the days progress. I think having support is a huge factor in success. We can do it!

Headed to hosp... this is it
I'm doing great. I posted in some other threads about my first 24 hours, and so forth. Pain has been real managable. Its day two and I've walked around the block and I now have diahhrea on and off.. Not the bad kind with cramps.. just finally passing the residual stuff. The only pain I've had that was scary was at night, and I think it came from eating then laying down. Walking seems to be the key to success. So I'm walking like crazy. So far, no regrets.

Ad nausem
egads.. The stomach flu.. I'm scared to death of getting a bug that would make me vomit. I finally had a BM today, 2 in fact.. mostly liquid. I did manage to walk around the block. yahoo!... Forgot about motrin upsetting my stomach, Will stick with the tylenol. It's a bit of an adjustment getting used to liquid meds. I now know why my daughter always hated it when I gave them to her.

So much fun. NOT.
Been there, done that.. I found that the best $ I spent on mine was hiring out a professional statistician, to crunch the data for me. Lots of math professors will do this on the side. I ended up hiring my old college Alegrabra/calculus teacher to do it for me. Saved my butt, and allowed me to concentrate on the writing. Hang in there!.. it's worth it.

Ad nausem
Well, it's day two. I feel better this morning than ever. Had a bit of a scare last night, went to bed at 10 and woke up at 12:30 feeling like I was going to puke. Which scared the hell out of me. I didn't, thankfully, but I was in pain at the port area. I took some liquid motrin, (nasty stuff) because I felt sore all over. Let out a nasty belch that hurt. I'm attributing it to drinking some Protein rich broth before laying down and going to bed. Is this a no-no? Should I not be eating before laying down? I don't like waking up like that. My goal today is to get more fluids in me. I'm noticing my urine is pretty concentrated. Do you count your Proteins as liquids? such as your broths and Breakfast drinks or are those in a seperate catagory?

Thyroid Problems and Lapband
I was just banded.. I'm taking my thyroid medicine as normal every day. I break the lexovyl in half however to make sure it doesn't get stuck in the port. From what my regular m.d has said.. so long as I take my meds same time every day I should be fine.. if fact losing the weight may even help reduce the dose I take.

Question about barium swallow
They even printed me a copy off to take home with me.. It was kind of cool. I have that and a copy of the photo the took with the camera inside of me of the band itself. So be sure to ask!

My first 24 hours post op
Took a shower.. wonderful!!!.. and went to Target to get a few things. and managed to walk almost half a block today. Not too bad of a day two. Coughed up a big mess of slime, looked more like mucus, felt much better afterwards. only taking Tylenol now.. Hungrey but not.. kind of wierd. :nervous

I'm freaking out a little
Amen to what Annie said.. Distraction is the key.. Walk through it. I can't begin to tell you how your going to feel, you just have to set your mind that it's not going to be easy, and that your going to have to push yourself to work through and walk through the pain. I'd have rather laid in bed all night, but I made myself get up and walk every 3 hours today I'm thankful I did cause compared to some of the others I'm having a much better day 2 than some did. Yes I'm sore, and yes I have to be careful not to overdo it. I've got a great support system keeping me busy and distracted. laughing hurts, but it sure beats crying.

Abdominal swelling
I'm on day two.. I can't take vicodin.. it makes me hallucinate like crazy and dizzy as hell. Sounds to me you might not be tolerating the vicodin well. Also if your taking the nasuea suppositories they can cause dizziness as well.

Lap-Band Post-Op Questions???
I know that anesthesia effects hearing as well. So in addition to the infection, you could have some residual effect from the anesthesia. Keep updating, I'm right behind you.

My first 24 hours post op
So far day two is going good. I'm off the darvocet, Just taking tylenol as needed. I did have a few spoonfuls of yogurt, chased down with some hot tea, I read the thread about Yeast infections and I am prone to them, so I thought it would be a good idea to have a a spoonful or two on yogurt. Walking makes all the difference in the world. If I don't walk every two hours I notice the pain increases. I've always been active, but not to this measure. I have to make myself wake up and walk so I don't get stiff and the gass doesn't settle. Making some interesting body noises that is for sure.

Heartburn?
I don't have enough experience to answer, but my guess would be your swallowing alot of air when you drink.. Could anything be plugging you? such as a pill? How often and how much liquid.. what kind of soup?

Heartburn?
I was told your not supposed to have heartburn or reflux after the band. could it be your feeling a back up from eating too much or the wrong thing? What are you eating?
