  1. For me it was pain after eating.. at first I thought it was something stuck in the band but it was lingering, Frequently after eating I would get clammy and lightheaded with this stabbing pain in my diaphragm and it hurt to take a deep breath. The night I ended up in the ER I felt as if I was being stabbbed in the back underneath the shoulder blade running around the right side under my breast, the stabbing came in waves and nothing, no position alieviated the pain and discomfort. I would break out in a sweat and just cry in pain.

  2. I think it all depends on what you want in a surgeon. From what I hear Dr. Spivak is hands on, and has great follow up. Dr. Spiegal has the most experience and surgical skill, I'll be the first to admit your treated like cattle at the office. HOWEVER, I've been very please with my band and I'm losing great, I don't like to be micro managed so Dr. Spiegal was the choice for me. I had to have emergency gall bladder surgery this week and he referred me to an excellent surgeon, and there were no complications. Surgical skill and competence is what was most important to me in choosing a doctor.

  3. 3 months banded, down 32 llbs and thought I was starting to have Pb's and band slipping. Couldn't really tell, just in a lot of pain after meals. Turned out to be my gall bladder was full of stones, so I had surgery wed night at University General. Awesome Hospital. Had to go there so someone with Band experience could remove the gall bladder. I feel so much better, and yet I hurt worse from the surgery then from when I was banded. Now it looks like no fat is a going to be a must!. It is weird with the band, I couldn't tell where the pain was coming from, I'm just glad it's fixed.

  4. I may stir the pot here but everyones body is different and every doctor has different diets. While my doc in a perfect world wanted liquids the first week post up and soft foods the second. I know my body well enough to listen to it. The diarrhea was the first sign that I needed to listen to my body, and cut the Protein drinks, and logically I could find no reason for not drinking other things that were the same consistency, so after about day 5 post op I started drinking soups.. then after about 4 days of Soups, I started on mushy, because my body told me I needed more bulk. I was on full solids by about two weeks. I disagree with some of the more radical diets that people try that put thier bodies in a state of ketosis. I don't think it is healthy or wise but to each his/her own. For me I listen to my body, except that I tell it how much and when it can have what it wants.

  5. My hubby went out of his way to prepare the kids meals and not eat around me, the first week, but I was missing the family time. The big thing now is for him to eat slow so as to keep pace with me. He was a big help with bathing, scratching my back while I was sore from the surgery. The best help now is simply being there. Sometimes if I eat to fast or swallow to big a bite I get chest pains and have to walk around.. he is always watching to make sure I'm not in pain. Just knowing he cares is very comforting.. but the creme de la creme is he changed his jogging schedule so that we can now take long walks together every evening. He still runs, but not as much, just does twice as much walking and now with me!.

  6. I have to wait until May 1st to get my first fill. I need/want it now. I'm hungry, My appietite has returned with a vengance. I'm still keeping it to <1000 calories a day, but I am just starving. I eat my meals, and an hour later.. I'm hungry again. I'm getting plenty of Protein, it's sugar I'm craving. I'm walking 4 miles a day, but all the sudden the weight stopped dropping. I was getting excited to see the scale change everyday. It went up a 1/2 lb yesterday and no change today. ARGH!!!!!!!:angry
