    Alcoholic beverages?

When I do have a drink I drink vodka and mix it with crystal light ruby red grapefruit juice. It's just like the shake and go but I mix it in a picture because it makes 2 quarts. The juice is also good to drink by itself if you like ruby red grapefruit juice.
  3. I didn't bring my lunch today and I want to have something good. I'm leaning towards a small chilli from Wendy's and one of their low cal grilled chicken wraps. I would only have to spend $2.50 and be full. My job is near a lot of restaurants. Who has a good lapband lunch that eat that maybe I can go buy from one of the restaurants around here? I'm running out of lunch ideas
  4. Thanks Ladies, I can eat half of the chilli and half of the wrap, I usually let one of my daughters eat the rest when I take it home. The grilled chicken wrap is delicious. I go in for a fill on Friday so I'm hoping then that I will only be able to eat half of one and non of the other after that. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thanks Indio thanks for the recipe, I buy a lot of ground turkey and I'm always looking for other ways to cook it. I've copied the recipes and I will make some tomorrow as I didn't thaw out any ground turkey. I settled for a mini sub minus the bottom bread from Jersey Mikes, with a lot of lettuce, the sub is about 3 to 4 inches and I can only eat 3/4 of it with out the bottom bread so it's like a half sandwich. But I have lunch ideas for tomorrow thanks to you two.

    Exercise

I just started walking and working with weights 3 weeks ago and started drinking homemade smoothies for Breakfast and after all that time the scale is now starting to move. I hadn't real lost any weight in a couple of months according to my scale at home (I think it may be a little off) but since I've started walking and using the weights I've been losing a couple of pounds each week. In my opinion I wish I would have put all the exercise equipment that I have to good use and then maybe my weight loss totals would have looked better, but I'm not going to worry myself with it, I'm just going to enjoy the here and the now. I've been actually enjoying walking. I find that if I change clothes as soon as I get home and walk that I can stick with it and I feel better. Oh yeah I just started walking for 15 to 20 minutes each morning at work (power walking) before it gets hot out.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Thanks NJ! I am trying to work through it the best way I can. I am not about to let him or anyone else change my goals. I'm walking everyday now and I'm doing my daily affirmations and I just feel good so I can't let him or anybody steal my joy. I don't want to be skinny or anything but I want to be smaller. I want to wear a size 12 comfortably I'm talking jeans, slacks, skirts everything. If I go to a 10 that's fine too as long as I still have my curves. I hope that you are also losing weight and getting your health together for yourself too not just your family. When we do it for ourselves we have a tendency to maintain our weightloss. I've never dieted for anyone but myself. I wish you and your family the best!

  8. I'm going for a fill on Friday, when I get a fill they usually have me swallow this barium which is thick and chalky tasting and they always say that I am full enough and don't hardly give me 1 cc, I think to date I probably am at almost 2cc. Is there a trick to making this liquid go down fast so that I can actually get me some restriction. I want to be able to eat 4 ounces of food, you know carry a baby container to work with my lunch in it. I want to actually be full off of a protein shake and not have to eat a yogurt with it and still hear my stomach growl one hour later. Any advice you can give me will be good. I don't have to have my fill done it front of the xray machine this time so I'm excited about that.

    Can I drink champagne?

Yes, you can have a glass of wine, but again it is empty calories. I like to have a drink from time to time so if I choose to I have one or two on the weekend. If I do drink a glass of wine I try to make it replace my snack so I don't add on to many calories. I use to like a glass of wine with my dinner but I had to work that out. I did read on one of these threads that one bandster has her glass of wine daily in place of her snacks and she is still losing. Remember we can anything that we can tolerate just do it in moderation.

Barium Swallow for Fill - Help!!!

I have to drink that stuff everytime I go. It's white and chalky and taste pretty bad. They usually have me lift my shirt and stand in this machine and pull up my body on a projection type screen before sticking me with the needle but in the office they just feel for my port and stick me based on that. But I don't swallow I usually sip and I think that is where my problem comes in at. I need to learn to swallow the liquid.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Thanks Doddie, I thought is was just me. I mean he was so supportive in the beginning well even up until the weekend, but now that he sees I am determined to get myself together he is losing it. I'm trying to get to onederland and I will with or without his support. I go for a fill on Friday so I'm happy.

    Slow Losers Unite!

I had an argument with DH last night and I found out some disturbing news, I think he is jealous of my weight loss. He was actually trying to say that I am working out (which I've been doing faithfully for 3 weeks now) that I am trying to lose weight for a guy. How absurd is that? I got so mad, all I could think of is how dare he say that my weightloss is in vain. We had this argument in front of my father which lead me to confessing to my dad that I am banded (he told me my secret is safe with him) but my thing is why would my husband even say that. My dad quickly corrected my him but DH was way out of line on that one. I think he is jealous that he and every one else can tell the guy finds me attractive, but mind you I'm married and I'm not lookin for love I'm already in love with (DH) so why would he say something like that to me. Granted I like to hear that I look good just like the next woman but to say that I The whole thing really hurt me bad and has also empowered me at the same because I was already determined to lose 40 pounds by August but now I know that I am really going to lose it because I will always think about his dumbness and fight the head hungers and whatever else that comes my way. I also think that matters are only going to get worse because as a plus size woman I always got the DIVA comment from men and still made their heads turn but I guess when I lose the 40 pounds my husband is going to go insane with jealousy. What am I going to do? I know I'm going to loss the weight but does that mean I'm going to lose my marriage. I thought my marriage was strong how can this be happening? This thing has thrown me. :rolleyes2:

I'm staying on plan today because I've discovered forces (family) that are not really for my weightloss so I'm going to show them that I can do it....Despite their negativity I feel GREAT! The scale went down on yesterday and I'm on a roll...Onederaland is just around the corner.

i am staying on plan today because ...

I'm staying on plan today because I got off to a good start. I started my day with a mile and a half walk today, my legs hurt which means I've worked those muscles and I feel GREAT! Onederland is just around the corner and I'm going for it.:thumbup:
  18. I was banded with Anthem Blue Cross and your weight and height along with family history should help you qualify. Start making a list of all the diets that you've tried and failed on. Try to get a letter from your Primary Care Doctor about your weight loss attempts. That's all I needed along with the evaluations and nutrionist that my Doctor sent me to oh yeah and the weight loss seminar. Check on line to read about your coverages or call customer service the number should be listed on your insurance card. You should be fine. Good Luck!

    Slow Losers

Hello slow loser...I too am a slow loser. Just in case you haven't seen it we have a longer thread going on in this same forum. I am now trying to get a handle on things. Teal C, don't be discouraged as my numbers look like yours, I was banded June 21st 2007 and I am just losing 30 pounds. I have only began to see more results since I started with my low cal homemade Breakfast smoothie and walking, and weight training. I have a new mindset as of the last two weeks. I just started logging into SparkPeople today to try and track my calories before decided if I am going to join weight watchers on line. I need to exercise even more, walk faster, I'm walking with my Mom and Sister in the evening that I don't walk at home and my Mom doesn't walk fast so I may have to change that and just do my own thing. I have to burn some fat. I will start with a personal trainer next week probably for 3 days a week to boost things up. I wish you all the best-we will lose and lets keep in mind that a pound lost is always better than a pound gained.

    Why Aren't You Losing Weight?

Thanks Skinny Jill! I am trying to log in my meals now. I think this may help me to determine where I'm going wrong. I eat small portions, I think sometimes I may not eat enough.

    Why Aren't You Losing Weight?

I am trying to start tracking my food and wanted to know how many calories a day should we consume?
  23. Ebonie, Try going to the store and purchasing you a couple of the 100 calorie snacks and limit yourself to one a day or just when you have a craving, I wouldn't exceed two packs in a day though. You can also try yogurt as that is a snack or make a homemade low cal smoothie. No sugar added popsicles are good to. Try the slim-a-bear and the weight watchers. My Doctor said I can have snacks that a sugar free and don't contain more than 100 calories, but not to exceed 2 in a day.

    Slow Losers Unite!

Thanks Doddie, I am currently trying to set up an account with sparkpeople. I am navigating through it, but it is hard to try to list my foods that I eat as I don't eat the portions size nor the food they have listed. I am going to try it for a couple of days to give it a chance before I sign up for Weight watchers on line.

    Slow Losers Unite!

I almost forgot to tell you about the meeting yesterday when I was there a couple of the girls sitting near me had started talking about the lapband and I just listened, I didn't say a word. They said that they actually thought about getting it. One of them said they knew a lady that had the surgery and that she was doing okay that she hadn't lost a lot of weight. I could tell by the way they were talking that they didn't really grasp the idea that you have to work with the band that the weight isn't just going to melt off and none of them even mentioned anything about exercise. I've had to learn the hard way that I have to exercise to see result as I don't eat a lot anyway (probably around 5 ounces of food per meal).
