    Trouble Eating after Fill

I hope everybody is doing better today. I am still trying to adjust to this fill. I don't mind the eating of the small portions I actually like that part but I want to drink more water. It takes about 30 minutes to get through with a 16.9 ounce bottle. I hope it loosens up just a little. I'm not going to get an unfill unless I absolutely have to because today I went shopping in the juniors department and brought their size XL and they actually all look good on me. I had to try everything on because I'm between sizes right now.

    Slow Losers Unite!

I just got a fill on last friday and I have a lot of restriction as a result of it. I am contemplating having a small unfill. I can't eat a lot maybe 2 ounces per meal if that much. I have been getting slimmed up and a little PBing. Is this normal? I've never had restriction like this, I've always been able to eat at least my 4 ounces. What should I do? Should I wait it out and see if it gets better or should I go for a slight unfill on Friday?

    Trouble Eating after Fill

I've got 5.8cc in a 10cc band. I will take all of your advice and wait it out. I have to sip carefully and eat soft foods like baked fish, corned beef, I can even do cheese. I brought a lean cuisine meal to work today that I want to eat along with another storage container as I know I can't eat but probably 2 to 3 ounces of the food. I am not getting a lot of food in and would love to see the scale go down about 10 or 15 pounds so I will try to hang in there. I'm not use to having good restriction so I think it just feels weird to me. Thanks to you all for your support. How about we all try to wait it out together unless we feel that we have health risk. Let's continue to keep one another posted on our progress. I weighed myself yesterday and I'm going to do it again either Friday or Saturday morning to see if this restriction has caused the scale to go down any. Best of Luck to you all! Perhaps we will see less(weight loss) of one another by the end of the week.

Amount to unfill for a cruise??

Kandice, I can't understand why you would want to get unfilled. It's so many of us out here looking for good restriction that its just unbelievable to me. I can see you getting unfilled if you have to much restriction and can't eat but to go on a cruise is another subject. My husband and I are going on a cruise in August and I want to lose 40 more pounds by then but I certainly don't want to get an unfill to go on the cruise. I will take my WLS card with me in hopes of being able to eat off the children or seniors menu but if not oh well we are going to be on vacation and will just take the food back to our cabin for him to eat off of later. I also have the option of eating off his plate and just ordering me a salad. I just ask that you revisit your decision and if you are going to get unfilled do it for your health not for the cruise. If you unfill this time for a cruise what are you going to do for all the other vacations that you will be taking in the future?

    Slow Losers Unite!

Hello Elaine, We are all slow loser here. I was Banded June 21, 2007 and my weight loss is even less than yours if you consider my time frame but I just decided to get back on track. You are not a loser you are an achiever as you have managed to lose 39 pounds and you have kept it off so that makes you an achiever. Be proud of the pounds you have lost. Get back on track. Try to start tracking your calories daily and try to do a 10 minute walk each day, add on another 5 minutes when you feel comfortable and you will be surprised at how great you feel afterward. Keep in mind that we didn't gain this weight overnight so we should not expect to lose it overnight. I've always been told the slower you lose weight the better your chances are for keeping it off so you have the upper hand because not only are you losing slowly but you also have the band to help you to keep it off which serves as a double positive. That should indicate to you that you will still have successful weight loss 10 years down the line and I'm sure that sounds pretty remarkable to you. Don't feel defeated get in there and get motivated. Try creating some new recipes or copy some from this site because finding high protein foods is always a task for me. I couldn't stand exercising either until about 4 weeks ago and now I can't get enough. I enjoy walking my subdivision and seeing the sites a periodic jog makes me get my heart rate going which I enjoy too. Best of luck to you! You can do it.

    Need to be here

Welcome Ruth! The decision is truly yours to make if you want to discuss it with family, friends, coworker, etc. I didn't tell anyone but my husband and my kids until last week when my father came by for a visit and my husband and I were having a little rough patch did I share it with my dad. He assured me that he wouldn't tell anyone else which I believe. I'm sure my dad doesn't have a clue what the band is so he could probably care less. I didn't want to have to deal with all the negative responses or the long stares or the dumb questions. It just basically depends on what kind of support group you want to have or feel that you need. My kids support me 110% which I'm truly greatful for. My husband was also being very supportive until he got a little jealous streak in him in the past couple of weeks but we've discussed it and I've assured him that my losing weight will have no bearings on our marriage as he is the one I love and I don't plan on leaving him. I'm only telling you all this because again when we do share our WLS decision with others these are some of the things we may encounter. Best of Luck! Continue to read other threads here as it is about a 50/50 chance in most cases here of who kept it a secret and who didn't. Just remember that we always have this site to vent to ask question and lean on. We are all one big (little) happy family here!

    Getting fills without fluoroscopy...

I can't remember if this is my 3rd or 4th fill but I got it on Friday without having to swallow the barium and got.8ccs put in. I feel great. I really have restriction and it's the best yet so I think I've actually found my sweet spot and can't wait to see the scale. It should work out pretty good with me and all my exercising as well.

    I think something is hung

Why would you not chew the vitamin. One of the main rules for the band is to chew, chew, chew. Second rule is to crush your medicine or try to get it in a liquid form. You really need to go on liquids and consult your Doctor. Whatever you do always chew chew chew. If you need a pill crusher check your local Dollar store as that is where I purchased mine and it's works good. Best of Luck to you!

    Thinking of Cancelling Surgery!!!

I can understand that you have your doubts about the surgery and so my question to you is have you had your psych eval yet because they talk with you to make sure that you in fact know what you are doing. I've been banded since June 2007 and I'm finally learning how to make the band work for me. I hardly ever PB and if I do it's because I didn't use the band properly meaning I drunk my drink to fast or ate a little too much. I love my band and wouldn't give it up for the world. You should probably read some more threads on this site as we have people here that have been banded for 7 years and better and the majority of them love their band to. Remember that once banded you can always have it removed and go back to a normal lifestyle. You could just be getting a little paranoid since your date is so close but you really need to decide. Ask yourself are you afraid of surgery and if you aren't then maybe you do need to cancel your appointment. Make sure you give it a lot of thought and you don't want to make a decision that you will regret later. Best of Luck to you!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

I finally have a NSV. Okay this morning I went to my closet and pulled out a pair of jogging pants that I brought in February and they appeared to look really small (you know from one of the outlets that carry irregular items) and decided to put them on they fit great, I even had room so to top that off I pulled out a t shirt to wear with them and got my teenage daughter to tie the shirt up in the back and she said "wow mom you look good, your butt looks smaller and your hips have gone down". She sees me everyday and for her to notice just set my day off. I feel GREAT! Not to mention I'm going to the Doctor for a fill today and I know it's going to be positive.

Do you keep a food journal?

Angel I was just like you up until a week ago when I decided to start logging my food, water and exercise in. I asked the people on line to recommed free on line tracking sites and they gave me fitday.com and sparkpeople.com. I find that I can navigate better with sparkpeople.com and therefore I am using it daily. This has helped me to lose weight in the past week and to help me to realize that I have not been consuming enough calories a day to lose sufficient weight so I am working on it. Best of Luck to you!

    Exercise doesn't equal weight loss???

I wasn't exercising or walking like I should in the past but in the last three weeks I've started walking, lifting weights and doing a little Tae Bo. I was at a stand still with my weight loss nothing for months and now in the last 3 weeks I have dropped 7 pounds. I have to admit that I feel better, I eat less and I have more energy. I have made a decision to commit to walking at least a mile 5 days a week but I've been doing it 6 days because it makes me feel so good and I've actually been walking more than a mile. I find that walking around subdivisions verses a regular track helps me to walk longer and actually enjoy it because of the scenary. I find the school and hospital tracks to be a little boring and they have a tendency to make me lose interest. I find myself doing a short jog from time to time while walking.

    Alcoholic beverages?

Has anybody had a drink after a fill? I have some major issues to handle this evening and I'm going in for a fill. I am going to probably want one small drink after I lay the people out who have been talking very very badly about me so I was just wondering I know I will be on liquids for 2 days then mushy for 2 days but can I have one small drink or will that hurt my bands restriction?

    Slow Losers Unite!

Welcome Roxie, Just know that you are not alone. I am finally getting to the point where I am jumpstarting my weight loss. Do you exercise? I'm finding out that exercising even if its just walking is the key to the weight loss on top of having a good restriction. My restriction is not the best but I've managed not to gain and since I've worked out for the last 3 weeks I've actually lost. All of us here are slow loser and working together so you will fit right in. The group offers good advice and great support. Do you know why you are a slow loser. You may want to share some details so that everyone can give you some input and help you find the reason for being a slow loser, like are you eating sweets, are you over eating, are you exercising, etc. You will find a lot of help here. Best of Luck!

    Time Off on "Fill days"?

I typically schedule my fills for the evening preferrably on a Thursday or Friday and I leave at lunch time which is around 2 and I'm gone for the day. I usually charge it to my sick leave as it is a Doctor Visit. I don't know about FMLA, but I wouldn't think so as you still have to use your own leave number one and number two FMLA is for medical implications that could last up to 12 weeks its just a basis to ensure that you have employment (you know not lose your job). I don't know about you but nobody at my job knows about my WLS.
