    It's Finally Here!

Congrats LadyBlue! I'm glad all is well.
  2. Rite Aid carries the Tylenol in the liquid form on a regular basis and it's extra strength, you can find it on the isle with the regular medicine. I purchased my pill crusher at the Dollar Tree, now that I think about it, I probably should pick up another one.

    13 days post op band

Purchase the magic bullet and try putting some protein in it, like chicken breast. I used mine yesterday to make chicken salad and it turned out more like chicken spread (no lumps at all). I hope this helps, I have not been banded yet so it's just a suggestion it is working for my pre-op. I just have to remember to chew chew chew because I'm practicing.

Welcome Mamota, we will be banded on the same day. I wish you much success/luck. We can do it! We have come this far and now in just 8 days or lives will change forever, doesn't it make you smile and say "I am finally taking a stance against my weight." This is bandland....

just got my band a week ago

Welcome to LBT. I'm glad you are doing well, it gives me hope because my husbands birthday is the day before my surgery and I know the following weekend he is going to be looking forward to having friends and family over to celebrate (of course I will not be eating and drinking but at least I can look forward to not being in a lot of pain).
  7. I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I hope you feel better. Know that we are all here cheering you on to recovery. Keep your head up. Rest!

    It's done

I am sorry for your loss. I'm glad to hear though that you have remained positive about your health, just keep telling yourself that you are doing this for you and your mom. I know she is cheering you on from above. Keep us posted.
  9. Congrats! My surgery is June 21st. I have been reading all the post about no restrictions too and my advice would be to follow the diet the Dr. prescribed and think about the band. Practice eating for your new lifestyle. Chew, chew, chew...

    Sleep Issues

I am having trouble sleeping too. I didn't even think to associate it with being excited about the surgery. Mine is next week, WOW! It has been a journey that I'm glad I decided to take. If anyone else can shed some light on the situation please share.

    weight loss

I am curious are you getting in your Protein first, then your veggies, then your sides. Be sure to drink your Water. Check to make sure your foods are not high in sugar. Most importantly are you waiting a few minutes after you eat a portion of your meal to see if your brain tells your stomach that you are full? You may not know how to tell when you a satisfied, you may be confusing it with being stuffed. I would try a liquid diet for a few days then consult my surgeon if it doesn' get better. Best of luck. We are here for you.
  12. Congrats to you and the family. I'm glad that you got your approval, you've made the right decision.

    Airplane Flight

My Dr. said I can drive after I stop with my meds. I do agree that you need to be able to turn around too so that you can see behind you, can't always rely on your mirrors (blind spots).
  14. I have been told that you stay in the hospital 24 hours or less. How long did was the stay?
  15. According to some of the threads that I've read people have taken the GasX thin strips that dissolve on your tongue (so I brought me a pack for my surgery), I've also read to walk and drink as much water as possible, and my favorite was go and get a message, so before I return to work if the pain is still there then I will be at the spa. I hope it gets better. I don't know how to add the links on this message so you may just want to browse a couple of pages back and see what you find. Keep me posted.

    Atkins Shakes

I am doing the Slim Fast Optima, the nutrionist told me I could do any shake of my choice and they were the better price and is suppose to control your hunger for 4 hours. I'm still hungry though. It's psychological for me.
  17. I want to start packing my overnight bag for the hospital, any advice/suggestions on what I need to take with me?
  18. I went to do my pre-op exam, blood work, EKG, etc. and met with the nutritionist, she told me to start the pre-op tomorrow which would consist only of 2 shakes a day, a sandwich with either turkey, roast beef or chicken breast (lunch meat), a small piece of fruit, yogurt, smoothies, water and low shake and go drinks. Oh I almost forgot sugar free popsicles or jello. Nothing else. I guess with a meal plan like that, I am sure to drop pounds and shrink my liver to. I am looking foward to it though because I could stand to lose a few pounds because I am attending a wedding on June 30th, that's right after my surgery. I guess that will be my test, I will just be off of the 1 week post op diet by then and on mushie foods. Wish me luck.
  19. I go in today for my blood work, EKG and what ever else and so I'm a little scared. I guess I need to be thankful that they made both of my appointments for the same day at the same hospital. I know they are going to discuss my pre-op diet more indepth today so maybe I'll have some good info to share. :omg::omg:
  20. I did all my test, it was easy. I met with the nutrionist today and she put me on 2 shakes a day and a turkey, chicken breast or roast beef (all thinly sliced) sandwich for dinner, a yogurt or smoothie and water or sugar free drinks for the next 13 days until my surgery. I'm a little scared of the lite menu but I think I will be okay. Oh I almost forgot I lost 5 lbs too. I wanted to go to a buffet and just eat when I found out about the pre-op menu but after the 5 lbs I couldn't bring myself to it, so I went to Applebee's and had a side salad.

I wish you the best of luck Soniapaz. My date is June 21st and I am nervous and excited just like you. We are on our way. My lab work is tomorrow, did you get yours yet? I'm already on Pre-op. Go June bandsters. :clap2::clap2::clap2:

    Protein Shakes

I called my Doctor's office today and they advised me that if I didn't want to drink the Slim Fast High Protein (to expensive) then I should get the Atkins shakes which I found at Sam's Club, so I have enough SF to last me until I get off of work tomorrow so I will stop by there then and pick up a couple of cases. I want a good one too (which the SF is but the cost is to much) because I will have to drink them for Breakfast after the surgery since I'm not a breakfast person. I don't know how much protein is in each but if anybody can tell me please post it on line. I hope this helps.
  23. If I were you I woulld give it a try once my swelling is down and my level of pain has decreased. I would say as long as you feel comfortable and are not in pain go for it. Take some liquid tylenol first and go for what you know.

    recommendation

If you are on your Pre-Op (2 weeks) then you can have salad greens, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, sugar free drinks like crystal lite or the kool aid one, sugar free tea and a small lean cuisine type of meal and Water. Thats all I know, I'm on my pre-op too, I started yesterday.

    Jealousy

I have a sister that lost a little over 100 lbs over a year ago, through starvation and droppin it like it's hot (club hopping 3 nights a week). Well I was the first to congratulate her and give her hugs and praise for the weight lost at the same time I was on another yo yo diet so I mentioned something to her about the lap band and she said "oh no you are not trying to take the easy way out after all the hard work I went through to get this weight off", now that was several months ago before I even contacted a surgeon about the lap band which made me realize that I shouldn't share anything with her, just lose the weight and sit back and let her wonder. I think that somehow she feels empowered to be smaller than me since for the past 10 years she was larger than me. I didn't take anything away from her so I feel a little mad when I think of what she said about the lap band. As we all know it is not an easy way out, it's just a tool to help us, we have to work with it not against it. My sister is gaining her weight back slowly but surely because she can't afford to go to the club all the time and she realizes that she loves food. That's why I'm happy to be getting the band and to be learning a new way of life. My support group is my husband, two daughters and all of you here, so thanks to you all!!!!!!:clap2::clap2:
