I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from SleeveToBypass2023 in NobiX - Minimally Invasive Alternative to Gastric Bypass
Yep, same. And maybe not even then, since I feel like the Lap Band shouldn't have been FDA approved due to everything I experienced with it and the damage that it caused to my esophagus.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Dub in I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
I'm not finished with weight loss yet, as I'm waiting for revision. So stay tuned...
My photos aren't that great, especially my first pic. I forbade my photo to be taken so I literally have none of my fattest days and I still don't like taking photos. 😩

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from DaisyChainOz in The BEST grilled chicken recipe
This is my go to recipe for grilled chicken, which I eat quite often. I usually grill a large batch and cube it and freeze it in small portions. The baste prevents the chicken from drying out, so it makes it easier to eat after wls. I also use a meat mallet and make the chicken breasts more like a fillet, so it grills evenly and this also prevents them from drying out because the entire breast cooks evenly.
Sprinkle the seasoning on both sides of chicken breasts, and before you put the chicken on the grill, mop the baste over one side of the chicken breasts, and place baste side down on the grill. Before turning chicken breasts, mop baste on the chicken then flip. Best grilled over charcoal with cherry wood chips. Voila✨.
Grill seasoning
1/4 cup salt
4 tbs. coarse black pepper
3 tsp. granulated garlic
3 tsp. granulated onion powder
3 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
Grill baste:
2 tbs. butter
1 small onion, finely diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbs. flour
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tbs. lemon juice
1 tbs. dijon mustard
1 1/2 tbs. sugar
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 2 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook about 1 minute, but don't allow it to brown.
Stir in the flour, allow to cook without browning, about 1 minute.
Whisk in the olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low.
Add the parsley and whisking often, until lightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
Let cool. The baste will separate. Whisk well before using.
The baste can be made ahead and refrigerated. Bring to room temperature before using.

I agree. We gave the benefit of the doubt with what info we were given in the beginning. That's all we can do. It's not good to jump to assumptions about someone in the beginning that's here asking for support/help/info. You might suspect that they're not doing what their plan says, but you have to gather info from them to make an assessment and sometimes they're not completely transparent.

This was an interesting thread and it took an unexpected turn. I would like to dedicate this thread to all of the non-weight loss surgery folks that say weight loss surgery is the easy way out. They could learn a lot by reading this thread.

The reason I brought up the Sleeve Plication being different than the standard sleeve surgery is because I wanted to stress that not all weight loss surgeries are equal. After reading more about Sleeve Plication, it sounds a lot like the Lap Band, as in it doesn't do anything except give restriction... and neither surgery offers any changes to hormones. As a former Lap Band patient I personally know how much of a failure Lap Band is for a lot of people. You put in the work, but a majority of people with them never achieve their goal weight. Some surgeries are more powerful than others. So I feel like you're putting in the required work to lose weight, but it might be the surgery itself just isn't powerful enough. I felt like that about the Lap Band when I had it. I watched others lose much faster and more weight than me. It was very frustrating. I'd give the Wegovy a try when it becomes available.
And there's an option to block people here. I find it helpful to not even read the Negative Nancy's. 😉

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Aunt Fin in YOUR favorite protein recipes and YOUR favorite sugar free drinks?
Hmm. I don't have any Protein Shake recipes, per say, because I don't like Protein powders.
I only drink Fairlife Protein Shakes. And I do add a strong shot of coffee to a whole shake. For instance, my favorite is salted caramel Fairlife. I use the reuseable Keurig pods. I fill the pod to the top with Dunkin ground coffee, and brew it on the strong setting and only 4 oz. Usually I drink it iced. Then I add sugar free Skinny Syrup in the flavor Salted Caramel. I do the same thing with vanilla Fairlife and add pumpkin Spice syrup. I've done this with Chai as well. I added a sprinkle of cinnamon and some sugar free Skinny Syrup in vanilla flavor. I do the same with strawberry Fairlife and use Strawberry Skinny syrup, and the same with chocolate Fairlife...
I tried to add unflavored Protein Powder to Jello. I couldn't eat it, it was so disgusting to me. And I'm not super picky. So I never got around to trying it in pudding, but a lot do that.
As far as the frozen fruit added to the lean shake with honey... there's sugar free Keto honey substitutes. It's about half the calories of honey but still has about 11 carbs per tablespoon. You should ask your dietician about what will be acceptable for after surgery. Every surgeon seems to vary. My team wouldn't want me to add the frozen fruit or honey. That's why I use the skinny syurps. Lots of flavor, without calories or carbs.
I mostly drink the Walmart brand Crystal Light sticks in my Water. Blackberry Lemonade is my favorite. I never seem to get tired of those. I've drank them for probably 16 years now.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Bariover54 in Sidebars - can BP help nudge users to fill in their info?
If you're using a browser on your phone or tablet, you have to enable the desktop version instead of the mobile version. Then go to the top of your profile and click your username and there'll be a drop down and you select, "My Surgery" and you can update your surgery and wls stats.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from SleeveToBypass2023 in Absolutely hate myself now
What country did you have your surgery in? I know Mexico doesn't require psych evaluations, that's why I'm asking about it. It's difficult for me to imagine if your surgeon required a psych evaluation that they approved you for surgery with all of the things you're typing about on this forum. Surely a mental health professional would've seen the red flags that you weren't quite ready for surgery at this point.
And my taste changed after my surgery. Things I never wanted to eat before surgery became my favorite things afterwards. So hang in there, maybe this will happen for you as well.
Best wishes.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Ready 4slim in St Petersburg /Tampa and Area plastic surgeon
Check into Dr. Lauren Kuykendall. She's a professor with USF Plastics, and operates at TGH. Her prices are reasonable and she did my fleur de lis, and she'll be doing all of my other plastics. She's wonderful, caring and knows what she's doing. Another surgeon there that I've heard good things about is Dr. David Smith. Not sure if he's still operating or just doing his professor duties at this time tho.
Best Wishes!

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from drbrickcitygirl in Medical Marijuana Edibles After Gastric Bypass (RnY)
I just remembered this... I give "full spectrum cbd oil for pets" to my Jack Russell. She gets joint pain which her vet says is the cause of her anxiety. It helps both her pain and anxiety. It's pretty amazing seeing it calm her and help her pain so she can sleep. It tends to happen in the middle of the night, so I sit up with her until she's able to sleep again. I know she's not human, even tho she'd argue that point if she could speak, but it might just help your anxiety also!

I've tried the G Hughes Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce and the Sweet Vinegarette Salad Dressing. Both are delicious imo.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Movinonup in Is anyone's spouse against WLS?
Maybe he's one of those spouses that the idea of their spouse actually losing weight makes them insecure.
I've read that this happens for some couples. The spouse in question is afraid that if their spouse loses weight, it will change the dynamic of their marriage. If the spouse having WLS actually loses weight this time, they will gain confidence and will be noticed by others of the opposite sex, or even leave the marriage. So they're using the excuse that it's the easy way out in order to deflect from their own insecurities in the hopes it guilts you into not having the surgery. Again, I've never heard of this happening with anyone I've known, just read about it.
But in the end you have to do what's best for you and your health, so maybe you just need to explain this to him that you're worried about where your health will be in 5, 10, 20 years if you don't get healthier now.
Best wishes to you!

I just had my revision to Bypass yesterday! (Lap Band removed last April due to GERD)
Best wishes to you on your surgery!

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from tabquick2 in Sleeve to bypass hopefully
I feel the exact same way about my Lap Band. I regret the choice I made now, since it caused damage to my esophagus and horrendus GERD. I wish I would've chosen Bypass from the beginning so I would've had a much better quality of life and perhaps even reached my goal weight years ago.

Oh and also... cpap compliance after surgery is important because sleep apnea if untreated can prevent weight loss. So make sure when you get your cpap you use it!
Best wishes.

I don't seem to dump. Although I haven't really pushed my diet much since surgery.
You're right to be concerned about GERD, wls induced GERD is awful.
I have/had? IBS-D and Bypass seems to have normalized it. My surgeon said that it would improve my symptoms. I was skeptical. But she was right it seems.

No problems at all for me. My psychologist is in the same practice/program as my surgeon, dietician, and exercise physiologist. Getting appointments is easy for me.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Kimpossible00 in Sidebars - can BP help nudge users to fill in their info?
Well the BP app looks completely different than desktop version. I don't really like the app, it looks so generic and you don't see any of the sidebar info that you do on desktop. So I'm guessing that's why so many people don't fill out their info.
It would be nice if BP upgraded their app so that it looks like the desktop version.

I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ got a reaction from Therese22 in How long did you drink protein shakes after bypass?
I'm almost four months post op and I still have two shakes per day in the form of proffees. I can't afford to stop them. I hit higher Protein goals because I do cardio/strength training five days per week and I couldn't eat that much protein from solid foods. As for Vitamins, I will never stop taking them. My surgeon stressed how important it was to prevent Vitamin and mineral deficiencies by staying on top of my supplements, (and having regular blood tests) because once they occur it's much harder to bring the levels back up, so it's just not worth going against that medical advice. I trusted my surgeon enough to operate on my body, so surely I'm going to trust her advice on preventing V&D deficiencies so I will follow her advice forever.
To the OP: I would say that life is probably easier for you post op in many ways after losing weight, the trade off is your guts have been rerouted, and you can't compromise on supplements and protein. Have you had your vitamin and minerals checked via blood test? Talk to your team and see if they approve these changes, take their advice firstly because they know your medical needs.
Best wishes!
