  1. Have you been able to exercise again yet?

Yes but I'm taking it slow.. I'm going to the gym as much as possible but once I start feeling the area my port is in I take it easy.

For now my main goal is to burn more calories every time I go.

I was able to get my first fill wed after stuff kept happening at work the last two/three weeks. Luckily I'm on my feet all day and night with my jobs so I do burn calories from all the running around I do.

  2. Legs up??

Lol yes. My doctor had me lay with a pillow in the middle of my back and lift my legs up a bit off the table (but keeping my legs straight) and arms above head so he could locate the port better and faster.

That's honestly what made it a strange experience.. My doctor did not numb the spot but with all my focus on my legs I didn't feel much.

  3. Good morning Bandsters!

I really enjoy reading your posts and have one tiny request - I like to try to guage how much people have lost and how long it took them to lose it. There is no perfect science to this' date=' but if you could all add your surgery ticker and update your weight loss/BMI tickers regularly that would be awesome!

Thanks and keep up the good work...it would be nice to know how much we have all lost as a group. TONS UPON TONS I'm sure :D .

I can't figure out how to update from my phone :( and I'm almost never on my laptop.

Then again I'm not even sure anything has changed since the last time I updated them

  4. I'm going through True Results in Houston and am having my surgery next week. I really love everything I've gotten from them so far! I don't know if it would matter because you're self pay' date=' but they did a wonderful job submitting everything to my insurance, getting a response, and scheduling my surgery very quickly. They also were very supportive and patient with all of my questions when I went for my consultation at the downtown office. I'm having my surgery with Dr. Wilkenfeld in Conroe and though I haven't had my surgery yet he and his wife have been awesome so far, as well as his office staff who I've talked to sooo many times on the phone with all of my detailed questions. I can't wait to start living the banded life and think that the staff at True Results will definitely be a huge help with that. I have heard excellent things about all of the surgeons in Houston, though, so I'm sure you'll be in great hands either way![/quote']

Wilkenfeld is amazing. I had my surgery last month and he got me set up quickly and at a discount because of hernia.

I went to multiple places multiple times before deciding who I used. I actually drive a lot farther to use wilkenfeld because of the great reviews and the interaction with him and his office. True results its self was a nightmare for me but with all honesty it's because my patient advocate wasn't the best/was always too busy to help me

  5. They are most certainly not a waste! If I didn't have the IVC filter' date=' I'd have been dead weeks ago. There was so much clotting trapped in the filter that they had to go in via angiogram to remove the clots from the filter because it was almost completely blocking the vena cava.

The filters do make clotting worse when they occur, but I'd rather have a worse clot than a pulmonary embolism and die.[/quote']

    What's a ivc filter?
