  1. 1st piece of advice: "Never give up! Never surrender!" ~Peter Quincy Taggart 2nd piece of advice: This is the part that sucks the MOST. I tell you what when you get to blended and soft you'll be feeling MUCH better and when you're back on solids, you'll feel VASTLY better. All of us have gone through this. You just need to take this day by day. When you start your full liquids, cream of wheat NEVER tasted better, I assure you. You'll get through this Pete. We're here to help.
  2. 64 oz of liquid is tough, My range is anywhere between like 30 and 50ish. I've never had 64 in a day. I keep out of dehydration though. Just make sure you're not showing the signs of dehydration.
  3. I haven't been hungry since day 5 on the pre-op liquid diet. I've just been going with a schedule to make sure I eat.
  4. I know what you mean. You're on day 6, is that full liquids on your plan?
  5. You've got questions, we've got answers. Welcome here.
  6. Are you drinking enough to avoid dehydration?

  8. One thing that you'll develop is a very very keen sense of smell. Gives you an idea how our ancestors, the wild men of old, would hunt and gather food. I can smell EVERYTHING. Banders make the best hunters.
  9. I was actually in the hospital for 3 days. I had a reaction to the particular anesthesia they were using (pretty rare). I'd say you'll be in pain but mobile on day 3, starting to feel better day 4, and pretty much fine (with the help of those awesome meds) by day 5. That was my experience. Everyone's different though.
  10. I was recently banded. Best thing to do is just relax through it!
  11. Day 3? Probably still just the anesthetic working it's way through your system. Everybody is different. During my stay at the hospital I slept for the better part of 3 days.
  12. I bet the grandmother vibe made you a bit more comfortable XD
  13. For sure man, thank you. My band and I have our work cut out for us, but we'll learn and grow....or y'know shrink as the case my be.
  14. I thought it was a good title. XD We got some humor and some serious answers. Thanks to Cat, that was exactly what I was looking for. Being a tall guy and sticking to a low cal diet, this should work out just fine.
  15. It's just finding out what kind of person you are really. The first appt. should be a short interview then the second should be a type of personality test. They really want emotionally stable people undergoing elective surgery instead of people that will have issues post op. Wouldn't worry about it.
  16. So here's my question. I'm about 6'2" and since your recommended intake of calories goes up as your height does. I was wondering if there were any tall people out there that can share their experience with me at the beginning of my journey here.
  17. Here's some examples of a typical meal for me pre lap band: EX1 1qt Beef Fried rice 10 chicken wings 2 egg rolls 2 cans soda EX2 1 medium sausage, pepperoni and Canadian bacon pizza 5 bread sticks with 4oz of marinara EX3 2/3 lb pasta 1 cup Alfredo sauce 1/2 lb chicken breast 3 slices garlic toast Needless to say that was excessive with that Alfredo clocking in at over 3000 calories. I only really ate once per day, but it was still 3000 calories. So now that I haven't been getting very many calories in a day my weight has been plummeting. But that's going from 3000cal/day to almost nothing, so obviously the huge change will do that. For you, your body is used to weight watchers and has adjusted it's metabolism to receiving that 1200cal/day. You'll still lose the weight. Slowly, but it will go away. Just up your exercise and even 300cal per day will make a big difference in your weight loss plan.
  18. To be entirely honest, I have lost all appetite since day 5 of the pre op 10 day and it really hasn't returned. I find that I'm forcing myself to drink broth since I got banded last friday. So I'm a little on the other side of the fence here.
  19. For a minute there I thought they had scooped you. Too bad about the restriction, but tossing on water couldn't have been good for you. Even without a fill it's better than being in pain constantly.
  20. Oh it's definitely the drugs!
  21. Before the 10 day liquid diet, 359. Two days before banding I was 336. Two days after banding I was 346. Totally normal. Just be glad you're +7 lbs in water, means you're keeping hydrated properly!
  22. I was banded this last friday and while I was recovering in the hospital, they had these warmed blankets to put over my midsection. When I got home on sunday I rigged up an old oil heater I had, got a stack of towels and just started alternating them out. Heat helps reduce the pain and pass the gas for me. Best of luck and hang in there.
