  1. Hi All, I'm done with all the hoop jumping except for two more weigh-ins, my question is do we have any input as far as our surgery date goes or does the insurance company kind of say screw you! and this is your Date! Just asking because it would be nice to coordinate a date that works well for me and my family. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks everybody, good to know.

    Thoughts on sugar free?

There are protein powders made with stevia which is all natural but is an acquired taste. I think jay Robb is the name of one company.
  6. This is my second go round at this, I was talked out of/chickened out last year. Full steam ahead this year with surgery sometime in February maybe. Good luck.

    Switching Surgeons?

Yes I switched because I went with a different surgeon the second time around. I had to start from scratch but its well worth it and the new hospital I chose is a Center for Bariatric excellence so the process this time around is alot smoother.
  8. Anyone switch their Surgeon pre-surgery? Why and was it difficult to do?

    Pre operative fears

I understand what your going through, last year my wife and friends convinced me not to go through with the surgery. It felt like I was on that show Intervention only no flight to a lovely fat camp in Malibu. Lol. So I did what i've been doing all my life and tried this year to do it on my own with the same results. Finally my PCP and my Cardiologist convinced the Mrs. so as of know she's on board, but I decided besides our parents I'm not telling anyone about the procedure until after it's done. Last year there were too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. Goodluck.

    48 hour Hollywood diet

Slimfast works and its pretty tasty or you can try a good quality whey protien as meal replacement, but this advice is coming from the person who is going to get yelled at by his cardiologist tomorrow for gaining weight and developing GERD. Lol.

    48 hour Hollywood diet

Don't do it, my close friend did it and his butt became real friendly with the toilet seat if you catch my drift, he did lose around 7.5 lbs in 48 hours.
  13. I have been lurking over a month and reading alot! I'm here because my cardiologist and my PCP recommended surgery. I'm a 39 yr old male with a history of dieting and a long love affair with food. Last year I had 2 stents put in my heart and was forced to retire from my job, besides stents I am diagnosed with sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high lipid counts yes all of them especially triglycerides (1500 range w/o meds). I decided i would like to be around for my boys ages 6 and 4 so here I am with the support of my doctors and a very apprehensive wife. I thought about the sleeve but it seems in the forum for that surgery that the complication rate is higher, this scares the you know what out me because right after my stents were put in a few months later I had an emergency appendectamy followed by an infection and leakage into my guts (a not so fun 9 days in the hospital). I have done my research on both surgeries and I am going with old faithful Rny. My question is this Does any one here wish they had the sleeve instead of Rny? just looking for reassurance. Thank you in advance.
  14. Lol yes he is! Thank God cause im not too swift.

Thanks.
