I don't understand how this is abuse at all. The company I work for only offered UHC. The company also had an exclusion for WLS. I called up my insurance agent and let them know what the deal was and they said that I can get additional and/or cancel the insurance from my company and get my own. Just because the company I work for offers insurance shouldn't mean that I have to use them for insurance. There is no pre-existing limits on the policy I've chosen. The only don't cover pre-existing conditions for 3 - 6 months if I didn't have insurance at the time that I switched to them.

I live in NJ and I am eligible for group insurance and have recently (as of today, actually) purchased individual coverage.

So since this is a NJ thread... Has anyone in NJ been banded by Dr. Nusbaum (http://www.obesitytreatmentcentersofnewjersey.com/)? If so, I'd like to hear about it.

Oxford is out of network although generally Dr's that are out of network will accept the payment they receive from insurance as payment in full and not require you to pay the remainder balance. The reason I personally didn't go with Bertha was due to the amount of surgeries he has done compared to the amount Nusbaum has performed.

Cara -- I live in Central Jersey and I am seeing someone up North. Dr. Nusbaum. (http://www.obesitytreatmentcentersofnewjersey.com/) This office has helped me every step of the way as far as what I need to do, where I need to go, finding out who is available, etc. I had some initial problems with my HC (It was UHC, there was an exemption) and they helped me and walked me through advising me which insurance to switch to, etc. that are 'easier' approvals, etc. I ended up switching to Oxford (It takes effect April 1st, tomorrow!) I have my psych eval on Monday in the same building as this Doctor. I had a sleep study and some other tests as well, the psych eval is my last test. I absolutely loved his office and all of his help. Please let them know I referred you. (My name is Matthew Marlowe) And if you have any questions please do NOT hesitate to ask me!

I have saw the term 'PB' mentioned a lot throughout the forum and I can not figure out what it means. Would someone please explain to me what this means?
