  1. So it's been nearly 10 months since my lap band surgery. 3 weeks after having my lap band surgery I went back to old habits; not working out, compulsive eating, eating unhealthy. I want to start my journey where I left off, but don't want to have surgery again. I heard that emptying my lap band completely to let my pouch go back to normal size could work but I'm afraid it's too late considering its almost been 10 months... Can someone please help me and let me know there opinions, suggestions???
  2. I was banded on June 25,2013 when I was 17 and 2 months later went off to college. Once I got to college I pretty much just gave up on the lap band. I ate as if never had the surgery, drank while eating, eating unhealthy and not exercising. I now want to pick up where I left off. I stopped going for fills after my second fill and I'm almost positive that I've stretched out my pouch. I heard that they can empty my fills and start new that way but i dont know if it's too late since I stopped following the rules nearly 9 months ago. I asked my mom and she said she doesn't think the doctors will even do anything since she went through a really rough time and stopped making payments. What do you's think? Any suggestions? Opinions, ?????
  3. So I began my lap band surgery June 25, 2012, almost a year ago. After the first 3 weeks or so I went back to old habits, eating the way I did before, drinking while eating, not measuring my food, breaking all of the rules. I was 17 when I got my surgery and two months later went off to college and it just got worse, the all you can eat cafeteria really got me, I stopped working out, over ate at every meal, ate unhealthy foods all the time. It was so bad that it got to the point where I even forgot I had the lap band. I no longer get discomfort from over eating or diarrhea. I'm almost positive I have stretched out my pouch. & I want to restart my journey. I want to succeed with this weight loss and finally feel good about myself, however I don't want to have surgery again. Given my brief description, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this? It's almost been a year since my surgery and Im not sure if it's too late to just empty out my fills completely and start over that way. What do you guys think? Ps- I realize I was in a bad state of mind when first getting my surgery. My whole family is over-weight and they criticized me and talked poorly about my lap band decision. & I think that might have made things worse. Now that I no longer speak with my negative side of the family I feel like Im ready to do this thing for good now. Also Im almost complete with my first year of college and I don't want to go through another year of being obese. Please give me your insights and opinions, suggestions.

    A pleasant surprise

My suggestion; let her begin the process of getting a band. It doesn't happen overnight it takes about 4-6 months for the actual surgery. Have her try to lose the weight within those 4-6 months prior to surgery on her own, if she see's results then it's never too late to cancel the surgery but if she doesn't lose the weight than she has the surgery to fall back on. I agree 100% that 19 is young to have the surgery and most of the times (at that age) you're not ready to make that commitment, but since you have also had the surgery it might work in her favor since she will have you to excersize and diet with. You's can support and help eachother. Also; there are many people over the age of 25 who have had the surgery and still struggle and fall behind. Not to mention that bariatric surgery can also be healthy; it eliminates any chances of being diagnosed with diabetes.
