  1. Day 10 of pre-op liquid diet. Surgery scheduled for 6/13. My dr has me on a very strict 2 week liquid only 800 cal 60 grams protein max. The nutritionist explained that it’s to shrink the liver and make more room for the surgery to work. I wish I was able to have some vegetables…. Kinda miss chewing food.
  2. 6/13 surgery buddy here too!!

    Breathing

I was banded last week and received one too. I was told to use it 3-4 every hour for a week. The nurse said it is commonly given to patients who under go surgery in the abdomen or cheat area to help prevent pneumonia and the exercise of holding ur breath for a few minutes helps to stretch the muscles around the lungs. After surgery I did feel short of breath a lot and these exercises helped a lot. After a few days my 3 year old stole mommies "game" so I just continued to do some deep breathing exercises on my own.

No I'm not banded yet. Scheduled for 7/24. Do u know what dr u r using at the clinic yet? I'm self pay....once I said those magic words I had all my appointments and met w the surgeon with in 3 days. The only reason I'm not scheduled til then is cause I have a hectic schedule w the kids until then.

    Cleveland R U there????

Any new clevelanders here? Could use a chat buddy.
  10. Hey July 24 is my big day! I also would like to have another baby. (i have 1 boy and 3 girls.....would love one more boy) suffered 2 misscarriaiges in the past 2 years. I'm hoping that the wieghtloss will help. My dr say they were not weight related misses but I feel that the weight didn't help. The feedback I have been getting is that post Band pregnancys r fine! Would also luv to hear any feedback from post banders that had babies. How long did u wait and what side effects did u have??
  11. My insurance policy also did not cover any WLS. I was so surprised. I decided I was going to be a self pay. I didn't want to delay this any longer. My husband is being very supportive. A self pay has no issuance hurdles so I met w nutritionist did EKG blood work chest X-ray abdominal ultrasound psychological evaluation and met w surgeon all with in 3 days! As soon as that was don't they were ready to scheduel me. I needed to push it off until July because of other travel obligations that I had. So I am scheduled for July 24!!! As far as ur question about eating right b4....I just decided that I am making a life changing decision ( a huge financial investment in my health) I will eventually have the tool to help my wieghtloss stay off but the habits and food changes will still be my responsibility. I have tried to start eating the way I will eat post surgery. The nutritionist also suggested that I already start replacing one meal a day w a protien shake. This way when I start my 2 week pre-op diet I will already know what brands and flavors I like. (Hope this was helpful, good luck!)
