  1. Where are you doing your seminar at. I am also going to one on may 14th in warrensburg mo
  2. I am not a doctor, but consider this... The vagus nerve comes from brain stem and part of its path is on or around the top of the stomach. Perhaps a tiny squeeze aggravates it enough to cause a headache! Honestly i dont know but it is a thought.
  3. Great job on your preop diet and good luck with your banding.
  4. I am curious why they said it was the wrong choice.

    is walking enough???!!!

I think that is why folks like to take weekly pictures because sometimes it shows the results that the scale may not show.

    Feeling weak on pre-op diet

You can make this happen. Remember, it is temporary, but the success your going to have will NOT be temporary!! Hang in there. Push through. You have already made it six days which is impressive on its own.
  14. Gosh. Going through the process of getting a band myself and i didnt even think feeling guilty would be an issue. Interesting topic. To me, i have to do whatever it takes to get healthy!

    Hernia and self pay question

Where i work (hospital) the band alone is 6k approx. Charges here for the whole surgery is upwards of 20k. Obviously every place could be different in their pricing schemes. This doesn't mean that is what insurances will pay.

    1 YEAR BANDED - DOWN 78 LBS

That is awesome to hear. Congratulations on your success!
  17. I am wondering if your band is always on ur mind (other than when you eat)? Do you find yourself forgetting it is even there sometimes? I guess i am wondering if you can always feel the device constricting the stomach or if you can go about your day feeling as if nothing foreign is in there. ( obviously for those a couple months out and fully healed).
  18. I am starting to see a couple folks say at one point in time they disliked their band. How many of you at some point after your surgery disliked your bands? This is important i think to those who either just got their bands or are planning to. I often wonder if when i get my surgery if i will hate my band at some point. I think it would be helpful to hear if others, at some point, disliked their bands but then came to love them later on. This way if i happen to experience that i can just push through until i love it! Hope that makes sense. I am not even sure it makes sense to me the way i wrote it. . Hope everyone is doing well.
  19. Ya, how does the band NOT slip up without plication? Isn't that where they stitch a part of the stomach around the band and back onto itself?

    weight loss 4 wks

    Good job! Very nice.
  21. Basically i have been checking this out online and havent read anywhere exactly how the band keeps from slipping. I did watch an actual video of the surgery and it appeared the surgeon wrapped a part of the stomach around the band and sew it back to itself. Is this the standard for all banding? Thanks.

How does the band stay on?

Phew! Good deal. Was seriously wondering how they would keep it from moving. I also didnt know if that was something i would have to additionally ask to be done. Thanks for the replies. ???„
  23. Hello my name is Adam. I have been researching the lap band several days now and i am glad i found these forums. I am looking for some feedback to some questions i have. I guess my concern is that after banding i plan to return to work no longer than a week afterwards. Is there alot of nausea that follows the surgery? I dont want to be missing alot of wor because i have a good job and would like to keep it. . Thanks so much! I am 33 yrs old. 5' 6" and 280lbs. I have a desk job all day and drive 30 min one way to work.

    Considering the band...

Thank you everyone for your fast responses. Many of you asked if i have had a chance to attend a seminar class about the lap band. I work at a hospital with a bariatric surgeon there. The next class comes next month on the 14th. However i have packed myself full of videos testimonies, pictures, online seminars, etc. Even after that, i find myself 50/50 in my decision. My thoughts are, if i could have lost the weight by sheer self control and will power i would have done it by now and would not be researching the weight loss solutions. I do understand that most of these questions will get different responses and that my own personal reactions may be different. To hear alot of folks didnt have alot of issues with nausea, it gives me hope. You folks are amazing, and thanks for your advice. It is the unknown that keeps me on the fence but i also dont want to be ten yrs down the road wishing i would have done the lap band but didnt.
