Pain in my upper chest
Has anyone had pain in there upper chest when eating or drinking something? I have had my band for 3 years and never had this problem. I haven't been throwing up and it all of a sudden started. Sometimes I feel it if I breathe real deep or exhale too much, but it always happens when I drink or eat. It's not that I am eating too much because that's a different pain and I have had that before . I made an appointment with my doc, but I wasn't hoping that some one has had this problem and might be able to help. I have tried gas medicine and ibuprofen and that didnt touch the pain.

Back Pain, Gallbladder?
I had my gall bladder removed a year ago 2 years after having my band. I was having intense back pain and if I pushed on my stomach right under my right breast it was painful. PLEASE don't let your pain which you think is gall bladder go to far. I did and ended up in the hospital for a week with pancreatitis, a kidney infection and had to wait a week before they could do surgery on me. This was all because I waited to long and stones were blocking up my system. It is an incredible pain. Go to your primary doc, they will send you for an ultrasound and be able to tell if you have gall stones.

Birth Control and Pain in Stomach....
Wasn't sure where to post this at, but I started on birth control 4 days ago to regulate my periods. I had a little dizziness, fatigue and nausea over the past few days, but I can deal with that. I am now having shooting pains in my stomach that have now worked there way to my back. I called my PCP, she knows about my band and said that this was normal. I have never taken birth control before so didn’t know what to expect and I usually don’t have side effects to meds. Has anyone else had these problems or know of a way to make the pain less painful? Of course I am freaked out because the pain is in my stomach and that's where my band is, but I haven't read anything here that taking birth control is a no-no. I also went to my lap-band doc yesterday because I have had a problem waking up in the middle of the night with coughing and then throwing up so I am scheduled for an Upper GI next week. Hopefully the birth control pill side effects and my coughing are two different issues that just happen to effect me at the same time.

Cough w/Vomit only when laying down
I have been banded for about a year and a half and I just started having the problem where I wake up in the middle of the night coughing and then I vomit a little no matter if I ate 1 or 4 hours before I went to bed. I never had this problem the first year I had the band and always used to sleep on my stomach, butn ow I cant do that anymore. It doesnt matter if I am sick or not it just happens when I sleep on my stomach or if I laugh really hard. I hope this doesnt mean I need to have my band removed or all of my fill removed because even though the weight loss has slowed way down I havent gained back any of the weight I lost and that is a miracle! I have an appointment with my doc in two weeks so we'll see what he says.

Does the saline need to be changed?
I was wondering once you get to where you need to be with your fills if the saline ever needs to be changed after a while?

Question regarding lack of fullness
I never had the sensation of "fullness" until my 4th fill. I was amazed on how much I could still eat thinking I stretched out my pouch at 2 CC's and then when I had my 4th fill (6 months after surgery) that brought me to 2.5 CC's and now I feel restriction with everything I eat and sometimes drink. Good Luck!

Last Supper...
Heck ya almost every day up until surgery I ate till I was stuffed. You would of thought food was going out of style. My favorite was an Ultimate sub combo from Publix with the soda, chips and macaroni salad. I had this meal at least once or twice a month. I thought I would miss that meal the most and come to think of it this is probley the second time I have thought of it since I was banded in August of 2004. I know I can no longer eat bread or rolls, but it does not bother me in the least and I am shocked I feel this way because my whole life I have eaten them. I can eat the insides of a sandwich, but for me to finish a whole sub these days will take me several days. I also don't miss the soda. The only time I miss carbonation is when I am out and a beer is cheaper than a glass of wine.

Hair loss and an over the counter solution?
Maybe I wasn't looking in the right area but I couldn't find the protein drink you were talking about on the website. What is the name of it? Also you take the vitamist as a multi vitamin?

the port..
Because my doctor is new at fills the way their office does it is....a nurse looks for my port using an ultrasound machine. Once the port is found the doctor numbs the area and then uses a different needle filled with saline to fill my band. I learned the other day that the doc knows when he finds the port because the needle will fill up with the saline already in my band because of the pressure then he injects what I had in the band plus more. I am still a little nervous to watch it when he is filling me, but the nurses say it's neat. I am 6 months out and you can still see my scars. They look a lot better then what they did and seem to be fading, but only time will tell. A few of my scars seem to be a bit bumpy, but I'm not concerned with the way they look because I thank god I had the surgery done! Good Luck!

At what CC do you feel full?
I noticed that when I was drinking my protein drink this morning it took me A LOT longer to drink the whole thing. I know the band is tighter in the morning so other than that until I eat solid food I don't know if 2.5 will be good for me!

At what CC do you feel full?
I know it varies for everyone, but I was wondering at what CC do you feel full on a half a cup of food? I went for my fourth fill yesterday and my doc looks at me weird when I say I am not full after a 1/2 cup. Right now my band is at 2.5 CC's.

Hair Loss!!! - Is Protein the only solution???
I am having the same problem so I was told to take flax seed. You can get the small seeds and sprinkle them on your food or they make it in an oil which I mix with my protein drink each morning and after about 2 weeks I am noticing a slight difference. It has a nutty flavor so I mix it with chocolate boost which is very creamy and it goes down pretty good. Hang in there!

Can you feel your band?
I can feel my port very well when I stand up and sort of when I'm lying down. It freaked me out the first time so I try not to do it!

Hair loss and an over the counter solution?
What is a good over the counter vitamin for hair loss? I didn't have much after surgery but it has increased and it is starting to freak me out. I know it's normal and I am eating as much protein as I can in a day, but I want to do more. Any help would be appreciated!

Shooting pain in the stomach area
So my doc had me come in for an upper GI today. He said that everything looked good, my pouch wasn't herniated or stretched and the band was exactly where it was suppose to be. He doesn't know what was causing my pain, but he did say because I am chewing my food more and since my new food of choice lately is carrots and you really have to chew them that I maybe taking in more air then normal and it may be building up gas in my stomach. I cant believe it can be that painful! Even though they couldn't find anything wrong with me I am glad to see my insides weren't exploding and my band was still in place. It was cool to see the liquid they make you drink flow through the band and fill up in the stomach. Thanks for all your support!

Shooting pain in the stomach area
The episodes hit at odd times and they did start after my fills. When I got my first fill the doc filled it too tight so he had to remove some saline, but this pain is different then the pain I felt when the band was too full. No, I'm not running a temperature and the area isn't tender or hot. Yeah, I do feel a little nausea because the pain is so intense I feel like I want to throw up. Yes, I still have my gallbladder and that was one thing they check and did an ultrasound for before my surgery.

Shooting pain in the stomach area
I am going to call my doctor this morning, but I just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this or experienced this. I was banded August 23rd and in the past two months there have been two times where I have severe stomach pain that lasts about 15-20 min and then goes away. The pain is all throughout my middle stomach area. Well yesterday afternoon I had another episode then a few hours later I had another one then this morning I had one more. This scared me because I never had so many episodes in a row like that. Anyone have any thoughts.

Is this normal being painful after a fill?
I went to the docs on Friday and he took out 1CC. I feel much better now and can still feel some restriction. I am very happy with it!
-
Is this normal?
I thought 2 CC's was a normal fill amount. I am leaving for the docs in 8 min so I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the advise. So am I right in saying your stomach should feel full and you shouldn't feel pain and that's when you know to stop eating?

Is this normal?
I had my surgery August 23rd. My first fill was Tues November 16th. I was told to do liquids for 2 days and then food as tolerated. While doing liquids I had 5 episodes where I had BP. 3 were while I was drinking my protein slowly, 1 was on OJ and the other 1 was when I took a vitamin. I called the doctor and they told me to come in and have some saline removed. Last night and this morning I was doing great and had no problems getting anything down so I was second guessed going to the docs office today. Around 10:00 I attempted to try real food so I had some eggs. Because the band is tighter in the morning I had a protein shake for breakfast and was going to do eggs as a snack. Well I took a very small bite of the eggs chewed it up real well and swallowed. It was atleast 15 till I was able to take another bite because it felt like the eggs were stuck. I took another bite, but was afraid of BP'ing because I could feel the eggs in my throat and it was starting to get painful. About an hour later I started to drink some water because the pain started to go away. Now I am scared to eat anything. I thought I was suppose to feel full in my belly with the band not like food was stuck in my throat and it was painful. Is this the way the band is suppose to make you feel or does it sound like it is overfull? Any suggestions would be helpful. If I dont have the saline removed today I wont be able to do anything about it till after Dec 8th because of Thanksgiving and vacation.
