    Perth Sleevers?

Sounds like you are doing well now, Eggs?
  3. I found ground beef easy from soft foods onward. Thin sliced stirfry beef was always fine on solids and steak by 3 months or so. I could probably have gone faster. By the way someone asked about bacon. I had it in the soft food phase because I could chew it well.

    Low fat versus low sugar

It was odd. The one that ate low carb lost more... So that must mean that quality of carbs matters more than quantity and that moderation is better? I don't follow the logic. Seems like they wimped out on their conclusion. Plus they both look pretty thin already.
  5. Your shape is amazing!
  6. Thanks for the correction about the band not needing staples. I never said plication did.
  7. The staples are permanent and are not going anywhere because they are over-stitched with sutures. Plus the stomach is sealed shut with heat (cauterized) at the same time as the staples are inserted, by the same instrument. but your stomach also completely heals and would stay together without them afterthought you are healed. This information is readily available at any reputable place that talks about the sleeve procedure, and your surgeon can explain it to you as well. I don't want you to feel that I am calling you out, but I get concerned that people are not doing enough research on their own. Please don't let people on a web forum make your health-related decisions for you. The band and RNY have staples too.

    Low fat versus low sugar

They sure don't share many facts in that article or what specifically led to their conclusions.
  9. If you are more than a month out from gall bladder removal and still experiencing diarrhea every day or multiple times a day, do a google search for "bile acid diarrhea". Some of us make too much bile and it draws Water into the intestines, triggering osmotic diarrhea. There is no cure, but if you have bile acid diarrhea it will be alleviated by taking a type of medication called a bile acid sequestrant. Common bile acid sequestrant are Questran, Cholestyramine, Colestipol, and Welchol. These medications don't get absorbed by your body, but bind with excess bile in your intestines to make it inactive. When it is inactive it doesn't pull water into your intestines and you get normal stools. The condition is common but under-diagnosed, often masquerading as IBS with diarrhea (IBS-D). I had diarrhea for 3 months straight several years ago, and 7 months straight after my surgery. I had every test, took antibiotics and anti-parasitics. Was treated for bacterial overgrowth just in case. Took high doses of Probiotics. Tried eliminating dairy and gluten. Was tested for lactose, fructose, and gluten intolerance. Had a full endoscopy and colonoscopy. Nothing. I had a gall bladder until a couple months ago, but it had basically shut down. Removing it stopped my gallstone attacks but the diarrhea actually got heaps worse. As soon as my doctor put me on Questran I had relief the next day. I have had relatively solid stools ever since. I switched to colestipol because it is a little stronger so I only have to take it once a day. If I miss a day I know it the next day. It's possible I will have a remission from this, in which case the medication would start causing constipation.

  11. I added lime juice and wedges and it really helped! Spent a fortune on limes. Now I can drink normal water again especially when it is cold.
  12. I find optifast is less protein per calorie and hence not worth it. Musashi high protein tastes better to me and is thin and not gluggy. I love the vanilla with a spoon of instant coffee. 30 grams protein and 170 calories!
  13. Just for accuracy sake, cottage cheese has some carbs.
  14. That's 300 calories for 36 grams of protein. Seems a bit high.
  15. Here is the recipe forum: http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1052-recipe-sharing/
  16. When we are first getting started, we tend to shoot for high Protein numbers daily. For most of us, we aim for 60-100+ grams, and there seems to be an attitude that more is better. As we reach normal weights, do our protein requirements go down? I would assume yes but I'm not sure. The reason I ask is because I am in a 5-week (so far) stall that coincides with finding a Protein shake I like and finally reaching protein numbers over 60. I've been getting 90-100, which I felt was awesome and was totally going to make my weight loss better. Instead, I have stalled. I wonder if it is because I'm getting way more protein than my body needs at this lower weight, and I would be better off aiming for 60 again and skipping the daily protein shake. Disclaimer, I am in my first real stall at 8.5 months and I'm not particularly stressed about it. I understand stalls and I'm not worried that I am stuck here forever.
  17. Skim milk powder has 8 grams of protein in 25 grams and dissolves into water or milk just fine. You can even fit two or three servings of it into one glass of water and add some flavoring. It's not for everyone but worth a try.

    Pre Op Diet Sensations ? ? ?

    Just gas pain then.
  19. I still think the treadmill is harder / more uncomfortable. I think because your body naturally wants to vary the pace when you're running. I have better luck on the treadmill gradually increasing my speed (by .1 or so) every minute or so until I get to a good speed, then varying it a bit during the heat of the run and gradually slowing down at the end, than by pounding away for 45 minutes at the exact same speed. When I am outside my speed can vary from 8 to 9.5 kph (my app tells me my average speed each kilometer) so I try to emulate that on the treadmill and it feels more comfortable.
  20. It can refer to either shoulder, your stomach, or your back with gallstones. For me, it always felt like I was having back spasms. Some people think they have appendicitis or are having a heart attack.
  21. All of these sensations are signals that the vagus nerve is being stimulated. Your vagus nerve runs along your spine close to your stomach and other organs. It refers pain and irritation to parts of your body that make your left shoulder hurt, make you sneeze, make your nose run, etc. If you get these sensations after eating, it means you had one bite too many. If it is random in the first two weeks post-op, it's your diaphragm being irritated by the gas still trapped in your body from surgery. If it is your gallbladder you will know because there is nothing mild about it, but yes your gallbladder can refer pain to your left shoulder too. But the pain will make you want to cut off your arm.

Is vomiting bad for my sleeve?

Only until the staple line is healed. Then the sleeve is not any more delicate than a normal stomach would be.
  23. They should do. Of course you will be billed but they will have a chemist on-site.
  24. Grilled chicken thigh and stir-fried chard with chillies

    Pre Op Diet Sensations ? ? ?

Your gall bladder can refer pain all over your torso. I used to think it was back spasms but I have heard of people thinking it was a heart attack or appendicitis. But it will escalate and be pretty bad if it is. I never had a small gallstone attack. If it gets worse and worse and Tylenol doesn't do anything, you can go to urgent care and they can give you something for the pain and give you an ultrasound. If you have gallstones your bariatric surgeon can remove your gallbladder during your other surgery.
