I needed to know this also. This helps. I'm still too far from my goal, but it helps to know.

LaddyMaggie and I have the same opinion as my doctor sent me when I was within 15 pounds of goal. You have to make sure you will not have a significant weight loss after plastic surgery and leave more skin to be removed in another surgery. Not sure if I will be having surgery but could sure use it. My insurance will over do a "skin amputation" which is only on the stomach. If I have anything else I have to pay out of pocket.

You know how "you just know it" when you meet the "right" person, or when you're having a great day? No one can explain it to you or describe it to you, except through their own experience...... But, when you experience it, "YOU JUST KNOW IT!" That's how being GREEN is for me.... I read about it ( a lot), I heard others talk about it (a lot), I researched it (a lot), but now..... I JUST KNOW IT! And now I know why I NEEDED to wait these few months before I found MY sweet spot. For me, I needed my brain to catch up with reality. I don't think I was ready (mentally) for the truly small portions I am now eating. Thankful that "I'M GREEN AT LAST!"

OMg, I'm shocked! But on the other hand, when your only ingesting a few hundred calories a day it's inevitable, right? How do some of you get in 1000 or more?

If you're considering surgery to remove excess skin you should wait until you're within 20lbs of your goal weight. If you do it any sooner then you my not be satisfied with your results because if you lose 50lbs more or whatever the number is the likliness of excess skin redeveloping is high. Good Luck

Every lap band patient and doctor will have a different answer to your question for sure.
Here is my two cents: I asked my Primary Care Physician, Lab Band Surgery and Plastic Surgeon ---> ALL said once I was within 15 pounds of my goal weight they would recommend surgery.
The impression they gave me, it was okay if you lost under 20 pounds AFTER you have the surgery (no issue); the problem is when GAIN weight after the surgery (if that makes sense)...
    Good Luck on your Journey

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me when it's time to see the surgeon do you have to have lost so much weight or how does it work? I'm not sure if I'm ready but close I have to tuck stuff in lol and I can feel that its just hanging there I guess you could say it's hard to describe I do get rashes an raw from it rubbing my doctor said for now use powder or diaper rash cream. At one time I was told after a year or two with lap band patients. My doctor says I'm gonna be one of his band patients that has gastric bypass results. So if anyone knows anything about the plastic surgery or process l'd love to hear from you.

Its been 6 months since my surgery at 1st I had lost I believe 23 lbs than I stopped I even gained some back. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was I doing wrong. Than I had remembered before I had surgery I read a forum on here pretty much the same topic and someone asked her was she taking measurements also. So before surgery I did take measurements so I took more and I had lost 4 inches around my waist already I had lost some all over. So I didn't feel so bad because I actually was doing something. Ive been on top of my fills ive even had an unfill because I was too full. I wont say how much Fluid I have because everyone is different I don't want anyone to think that's how much they need to have but I will say im in my green zone and loose at least 2lbs a week. ive lost 55lbs and 9inches around just my waist. Im not working myself exercising either I actually haven't joined the gym yet. I just do your basic everyday stuff I do have 5 kiddos an a husband to keep me busy an take care of 2 babies as well when I go somewhere I just park further away so I have to walk a bit. I do hear complaints about it often lol that's ok though a lil walking wont hurt. . So I would say get you a measuring tape if you haven't already and every couple weeks take measurements pick 1 day of the week as your weigh in day. stay on top of your fills! Don't drink your calories and do drink lots of water! Stay positive YOU WILL reach your goals!!!!

I would have to say Im in the green zone. I recently had to have an unfill an let me tell that was horrible. I was at 7.2cc in my 10cc band. my dr said usually ppl are done after this they don't get more fills. Well all was good for few hours. I was spitting out foam constantly an I had this horrible pain. I went all night with it didn't sleep it was bad I was so scared my band slipped. I called the dr as soon as they opened told them what was going on they said you need to come up now to get some Fluid out....It was like the past 2 almost 3 feels were just gone. I felt so bad like I did something wrong an this was a huge set back. I get there an had to have 2.7cc taken out. I was too full and my band had irritated my stomach so bad it was swollen nothing would go through my band. When they took the Fluid out instantly that pain was gone and no foam. This was the day before thanksgiving. I did get another fill and id say im pry there im not gonna go in for a fill unless I stop loosing weight. I loose at least 2lbs a week and im not working myself to death with exercise. I have noticed some days I am hungrier some days not so much it just really varies. Id have to say if your loosing about a 1-2 lbs a week your in your green zone.

I do not believe people should compare how much one has in their band to others, but in this case I will say I have 7cc's in my band also, 10cc band, and has been that way for 2-1/2 years now...some days are tighter than others, just the way it is....
I steadily lost weight on a weekly basis until there was simply no more weight left to loose, and still be healthy...as long as I keep the Protein up, I lost fat until it was gone...simple as that....I now have a very low body fat%....above (below) normal in the "Athletic" - Fit range....
When I got to that point I asked my Dr. "Now What?" He said there was nothing to do......this is your new life...never have a need for another fill, or un fill...it just is....

I waited quite awhile before having a drink. I noticed after I did have a drink, (note a drink), that I am now a cheap date! 1 drink makes me feel light headed now! If, after your surgeon okays a drink) you go out make sure to have a designated driver, because you will not know how a drink will affect you! Karen...aka..kll724

Alcohol does not bother me one way or the other, and my habits have not changed all that much....(I'm not a calorie counter)
I do have to take my Bloody Mary's less spicy, as is the new habit now with all things because of reflux....
I also drink carbonated drinks now and then,,,and I will have a Beer, or 2, or 3, at times but NEVER within hours of eating any food....
My Dr. has a strict "No Carbonation Rule" also...then one day I told him I was going to a Yankee game and said "Don't drink too much beer!" and "Remember the warning signs when you do"
That stopped me in my tracks, asked him to explain...he thought we already had "That talk"...so after some questions, etc, he gave me his permission...ONLY because I was banded for over 2 years, and ONLY because I was done with my weight loss and and understood many things I would not understand earlier on when I was still learning more important lessons on how to live successfully with the band........
So I DO NOT advocate drinking Carbonated drinks to anyone....I DO advocate you follow your Dr.'s treatment plan to t "T".
Like my Mother used to say...just because one person jumps off the bridge does not make it right or wrong.....and no one here should ever do things because other people say they do...or worse yet, tell others it is OK or Not OK....
Got a BIG Christmas party tonight...dos not start till 8:30pm at a Swank Country Club.....and I don't eat after 7 as a general rule that works for me........I doubt I will be eating anything, soooo........

because i was having a gastric bypass at first i learned a lot about it. i think alcohol is more of a concern for them. we still have our stomachs to process and digest the alcohol. but its the calories that we are concerned with. it's the same for fruit juice. just to many calories. and no benefit. but i am going to have my bailey's and coffee christmas morning. one mug full. lol its a tradition and i don't want to upset the cart.

Because we're not supposed to drink carbonated beverages, I've stopped having mixed drinks...you know, like gin & tonic. But when I go out to dinner, I often have one glass of wine. It's not too bad calorie wise, and certainly much better than drinks with juices in them or cocktails with alot of additional calories because of the mixers used. I do not find that one drink affects me any differently than before the band.

25 lbs is very good. I was only down 20 lbs at 5 months but once I got the fills I needed to keep me in the green zone I lost another 30.
