  1. They say changing up you exercise routine helps, you could try that. Or excluding carbs for awhile.. There is something that is called carb cycleling you could look into I know mis73 uses it when she hits a plateau. It is a book you can order off line if you want to look into it. I got mine off Amazon I have not used it yet being as how I'm just getting started with all this, I am still in bandster hell still waiting for the right fill. Good luck

  2. TMF - I'm still unclear about restriction. I'm scheduled for a 3rd fill this week, but I only want 1/4cc. I've been doing well from the last fill about 2 months ago, but find I'm getting hungry about 2 hours after meals. The band does seem to signal me when to stop eating, but I'm not staying full. I'm afraid of overshooting, at the same time, am frustrated with the (apparent) hunger shortly after eating.

    mrsinto,

I am having the same problem I'd like to hear what others have to say.

  3. You two are HILARIOUS! Mine was flipped 4 weeks after surgery so my port was revised. The Doc is great but the nutritional consultant can't tell me how to deal with the head hunger. Please advice! I only get dietary considerations from these two peeps!

I keep sugar-free Popsicle around for when I get head hunger and just need something to help it go away. I may eat 2 or 3, but it seems to work. Another thing is sugar-free Jello I don't like it as much but if I'm desperate. I'm thinking of checking in to sugar-free cool whip to see how many calories it has. If it is not to many I could add it to my Jello. Good luck.

  4. I get anesthetized for my fills. When I get anesthetized it is barely a prick, so I'm glad they do it I'm assuming it would hurt worse if they did not and I don't want to find out. I just had my second fill and all went ok, don't know about the restriction yet.

  5. I had Dr. Scott Stowers with Bariactric Solutions he was really good. He has an office in Dallas, they also have a bus that goes around to different places to do fills they are good at what they do they use a fluoroscope to do all their fills. I think cash pay is 150.00 for a fill. I don't pay anything with my insurance.

  6. Thought I'd share just in case. I got my first fill and at first I guess because of the type of food I was eating I had no trouble with eating I thought I had no restriction, but for some reason a week or so later I got a little stuck on chicken and then it just kept getting worse I kept getting stuck worse on stuff. I don't know why it happened except to say maybe I had not developed good eating habits as far as small bites and chewing well. Getting stuck sucks so I just wanted to warn you depending on what and how you eat you could have some restriction as compared to having nothing so be careful when your eating, it could surprise you at anytime just don't want you to get stuck if you don't have to. Good luck

  7. I think not putting my fork down and waiting has lead to all my stuck episodes. I have heard you can set a timer for 1 min. That is what a I need to start doing. I keep getting stuck and I am going in for my second fill today. It is only going to get worse for me if I don't start pausing between bites.

  8. Hi just wanted to introduce myself to a fellow Texan. I live in Haslet, very close to Denton but not to Plano :) . Can't say I know of any support groups anywhere for that matter. Would love to find one somewhere, even if I had to drive a little. I am going to follow this post to see who post what. Good luck

  9. Funny. I would think you could, if there is fat anywhere on your body if would be susceptible to weight loss. It may be a matter of having to loose a lot to notice the difference though. I'm just guessing I have not loss but 20 pounds and have not notice as of yet. :)

  10. Bariactric Advantage Meal Replacement and Syntrax Nectar both have an unflavored Protein. I have not tried the unflavored, but I believe you can buy samples at BariacticAdvantage.com, No association to Bariactric Choice which pops up under google and confuses you. I do know the nectar dissolves really well when I make my fuzzy navel flavor, so it may be something to look into if your wanting that, the nectar may work well.

  11. Hi, I will be in San Antonio until August 1st. I come here once or twice a year to visit my grandchildren in TX. So, feel free to e-mail me at dawalsh2@aol.com and that goes for anyone who just wants to compare notes.

Out of curiosity where we're you banded and where will you get your fills? I asked this because if I ever have complications while in San Antonio it would be good to have a back up plan.

Just for your info, I do believe they have a True Result in San Antonio, and they may be willing to take you in if something happens when your down there. Just thought I'd mention it.

  12. I would suggest just taking it easy, small bites and chew real well. Do that every time you start a new food. I say this because I did not do that and wish I had because I ended up stuck, but it was my own fault my bites were to big and I did not chew well every time I introduced new foods. I thought because I had not had a fill I would have no restriction, but I did with certain foods. I also though since the soft foods went down so easy I would not have a problem either, but I did. So just take it slow, small and chew.

  13. What is a plication? I thought it was complication and someone's spell check wasn't working but I've seen it a lot.

Plication is a new procedure where they fold your stomach and staple it together. It makes your stomach smaller. They usually do it with the band, but most insurances do not cover it so you have to do self pay for that one. I wanted it done but my Dr.'s office had not heard of it yet, that is how new it is.

  14. Have you tried granola in yogurt? I have it all the time, Iove it. Also oatmeal and cream of wheat are good suggestions. You can do a boiled egg :) .I know some people eat rice for breakfast, they eat it with sugar and milk. There are also all kinds of healthy cereals out there to chose from. I also eat cottage cheese with fruit like peaches, strawberries, and pineapple, that is good too.
