  1. I don't know about the Provent, but I do know that whether or not it works would depend on what is causing your sleep apnea. Do you know whether you have obstructive sleep apnea or central sleep apnea? Central sleep apnea is caused by something in the brain that forgets to tell you to breath, obstructive sleep apnea is caused by some sort of blockage some where in the air way, If you have obstructive sleep apnea it may help. Also weight loss can help with that kind of sleep apnea, a lot of people lose weight and cure their sleep apnea, but sometimes it may take surgery if your not interested in the c-pap machine, Good luck

  2. I was just wondering if anyone giving you advice has been through what your going through? Has anyone of them been over weight and lost it and kept it off for a significant amount of time? If not I don't think they have any idea what it is like to try and lose weight especially if you have a lot to lose. So when it come to their opinion on weight loss and taking the easy way out they don't have much to stand on. As far as the surgery that is up to you and no one can make that decision for you. Not even your husband or someone on here. You have to do what you feel is right for you. Just to let you know I had a lot of fears about having the surgery, but it was my last chance at trying to lose this weight, so I went through with it. It is normal to have fears and second thoughts. Just follow your heart. Good luck

  3. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I was thinking maybe you could find someone that would allow you to make payment arrangements. Good luck, and hope you are able to find a solution.

  4. Thanks Stephanie!! I'm glad to hear how successful you were!! Congrats to you!! Did you miss eating food during that time, though??

I think I knew it was only going to be for a certain amount of time and not forever so I did not really miss anything. I was really so excited about being so close to being banded and I knew I was going to be able to have those foods eventually. But I do have to admit I have a yogurt and granola fetish and I did miss not having that for the next month. :) I did have one incident on post-op too. My husband brought home Chinese with my consent and I broke down and took a bite when I was on liquids. I felt so bad :( .

  5. I was surprised the pre-op diet ended up being easier than I had imagined. I was able to have 3 to 4 Meal Replacement shakes, 1 Protein bar and all the Clear Liquids I could handle. I did learn some about my relationship with food (still am), but I couldn't believe how well I did even my husband was surprised. I found that as long as I had something in my mouth I was ok. So maybe I never got pass the sucking thumb phase  , but it is true I have to be chewing or drinking something so I've replaced the food I use to use with crystal light and gum. It has been working so far. Sounds like you have a good handle on things you should do great. Good luck. And by the way I was all over the place a lot before my surgery.

  6. I agree with mrsinto.and as a side note a friend of mine had her TOM cramps get better after she was banded so there seems to be a connection I've heard other people post about having worse cramps too. I don't have one anymore so I can't speak from experience. But definitely check with your Doc to be sure everything is Kosher.

  7. I have been so lazy I was hoping to be able to lose some weight without exercising and I did 18 pounds that is it my body won't respond any more I only eat 1200 calories a day but it still won't let me loose I guess without exercising. Boy am I lazy I so was hoping for say 50 pounds and then exercise, not. So I started the other day walking 15 min twice a day. I think part of me is afraid to find out that won't work either, but I'm giving myself a week or two to see if I respond to it at all. I'm almost 50 and I'm afraid my metabolism is shot, but I've heard of others around my age losing so I am hopeful still. On the fence though on being very mad about this whole thing with being banded and whether or not this is going to work, I've put a lot of money into this. I don't know if finding my green zone will make a difference, does it. How does that work? Won't I still be eating the same amount of calories? Or should I be eating less? I think I am just tired of concentrating on staying at 1200 calories which is not a lot of food. And I have not been losing so I'm tired. But I have not been doing what I am suppose to do either. So I have to start. So I'm venting I think. Thanks for listening.

  8. I have read a lot of post about people being tighter in the morning I don't know so much about hurting, but I do know it is not uncommon to be tight in the morning. Most people will drink something hot first thing in the morning to help loosen up and also maybe not eat till later in the day. You could try that, but you also may want to talk to your Dr. about the pain I don't think that is normal. You may be a wee to tight.

  9. I too went through a little depression after I was banded, never did figure out what it was but when I posted about it on here it turned out I was not the only one who had went through it. I think I remember some body mentioning it could even have something to do with the anesthesia. It can have all kinds of after effects. So hang in there you'll probably figure it out or it will go away on it's own. Of course they say if it last more than a couple of weeks you should seek medical attention. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.

  10. From what I was told by my Doc the pill (for whatever reason) might get stopped at the opening of the band and as it sits and dissolves it can cause a sore which eventually can turn into an ulcer and go through to the band itself and cause erosion. It is a possibility so they would rather you not take them unless it becomes a medical necessity like me I have to take baby aspirin for my heart so my bariactric Doc said it was fine. That is why some Doc's say take the smaller pills if you have to. They go through the band easier, hopefully.

  11. I use Bariactric Advantage meal replacement shakes it is the top one my Dr. recommended. It is whey Protein isolate and has 27 grams of Protein and 1 gram of sugar. I get it online at BariacticAdvantage.com and it cost 46.25 for a 21 serving tub it has been worth it to me. I like the vanilla. It makes a thicker shake compared to some I've seen. I also like Syntrax nectar but get samples of the flavors first the fuzzy navel was terrific but the caribbean cooler tasted to coco-nutty with an after taste too. You can find it on the same site for 34.99 it is whey protein isolate as well it is not a meal replacement though so it is cheaper. The Meal Replacements have more protein, Vitamins, and minerals I believe.

  12. The shoulder pain is normal for most people after surgery. It is caused by the gas they blow up your abdomen during surgery with. The best thing to do is walk and walk some more, keep moving, it is what will move the gas out. You could try some gas-x, but it may not work seeing as how the gas is in your abdomen and not in your intestines or stomach, but you could always try it. Also a good relieve is a heating pad it really helps ease the pain when your sitting still or walking if it is cordless.
