You could try some meclizine it is in Dramamine, but there are two different types make sure you get the one with the ingredient meclizine in it. It is for dizziness and it won't make you tired if you get the right one. At least it never did me. I think it says non-drowsy. I have vertigo so I take it for the dizziness. If you can't find the Dramamine with it the other anti-dizzy meds should have it, just look at the ingredients. Hope you feel better. If your really desperate you could get any of the anti-dizzy meds, I just suggest meclizine because it is what the Dr.'s prescribe, and it works the best. ~~~Stephanie

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 3 weeks post -op and my fill is on Wednesday. I am so hungry now. I am having a hard time just trying not to eat over 1400 calories. I gave myself some slack since I was so hungry and at the same time trying to control it so it does not get out of control and I gain more weight than I've lost. But boy is it hard. Good luck with your fill ~~~Stephanie

Day 4 - Very bad gas and Nausea
stept04 replied to wadeg7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I read on a post awhile back that flying can tighten your band, so that could be why your having trouble drinking. I guess you were cleared for flying after surgery, but I know it can take a toll on the body. Maybe you could look up some information on the internet. It could just be your tired and did to much with the flying and all. I know I felt real good about the 3rd day and went to the store and it was a mistake. I just did to much to soon. Make sure you keep sipping Water like everybody says and get some rest you should start feeling better each day if not call the Dr. ~~~Stephanie -
It will be 3 weeks and then every 4 weeks till I hit the green zone. ~~~Stephanie

Such a scary thing to go through, I'm so sorry. I hope you have a safe surgery and recovery, and no after effects. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

Did they give you any nausea pills. If not call your dr, and see if they will call you some in. In the mean time some peppermint tea is suppose to help with nausea. Good luck. My dr .gave me the pills before I went home from the hospital. So they should be willing to give you some, they don't want you throwing up with the band, ~~~Stephanie

I'm sorry, I did not understand what caused the slippage and the twist. Can you explain it again. I just got banded and would like to avoid the problem if I can. ~~~Stephanie

Is depression something you can have after surgery? My husband is convinced that I have been showing signs of depression since the surgery, it was 3 weeks ago. I will admit I have been feeling something, don't know what it is, But I don't think it is depression. Does anybody know if this surgery could cause symptoms of depression or something of the like? Or has anyone else been told they acted depressed after surgery? Any input would be appreciated. Is there something that goes on after this surgery or at this stage I'm not aware of? ~~~Stephanie

I keep mine about the size of a pea, if their not I break them up if it is ok with the pharmacist. I take liquid for all my Vitamins except Calcium that's chewable. I am concerned with them getting stuck. ~~~Stephanie

I think everybody is told different amounts by their Dr. Like mine does not restrict my calories, he says to just eat healthy and the band will take car of the rest. I don't know if I am comfortable with that,I'm just 3 weeks out from surgery, so we will just have to see. As far as calories I have usually seen on here anywhere from 800 to 1200. I think it just depends on you and you metabolism, how much you exercise, and how fast your trying to lose. When I have watched my calories before the band it was 1200 to 1400. But that was before the band. I'll probably have to count calories despite what my Dr. says because I can easily over eat. Good luck. ~~~Stephanie

Thanks to both of yall ,but I do think your right mrsinto about the excitement and then nothing, and then not being able to use food to cope with it. That would be exactly what it feels like. So, I'll talk to my husband about that, and see what happens, he should understand. ~~~Stephanie

I told everyone about me having lap-band surgery. I did not have any bad remarks, to my face anyway. But now everyone has expectations of me dropping weight real fast like tomorrow. Now I am going to have to explain how the lap-band works I guess that could be a good thing it could mean more people are getting informed, but it also is going to be a pain in the butt. Now I'm wishing I would have waited to tell people till they started asking then they would not be sitting around waiting for results. Results that probably won't be to their expectations. Just something I did not consider when I started telling everyone. So just thought I'd share in case anybody is on the fence about their decision to tell or not to tell. ~~~Stephanie

The port will more than likely show the more you lose weight. You can have a low profile port put in when you get closer to goal. Sorry but you may need to figure out a way to tell him. I don't know how long you can hide this from him. Plus with quick weight loss a lot of times you end up having to have your gall bladder removed. Just some thing to think about. Good luck. ~~~Stephanie

I don't know if it is to heavy or not but if your on Clear Liquids the first week like I was then it's not on the list. It falls under full liquids, the second week for me anyway. Have no reason as to what the difference really is between the liquids. Is that what you needed to know? ~~~Stephanie
-
I had a really hard time getting my liquids in because of the full bloated feeling, is that what your talking about? I never had any problem swallowing. If your having problems swallowing you may need to call your Dr. I stayed bloated for about 3 weeks. After that I only got bloated when I drank to much. You should be getting a little bit better each day. At least I did. But the first 3 days were the hardest. At about a week it wasn't to bad, but i can say now at 3 weeks I feel more normal. Did they give you a fill at the surgery? That could explain why you could be having trouble swallowing, but even then I don't think your supposed to have a problem swallowing. ~~~Stephanie
