Fruit
I am so glad summer is here. I love watermelon and cantaloupe. I measure mine out to about 1/4-1/2 cups diced up and eat that with each meal.

So what about straws?
I was told no straws because you can end up sucking in some air and it would be very painful.

When to return to work?
I spoke with my doctor at my first post-op appointment and he suggested 3-4 weeks and strictly 6-8 weeks carrying anything heavier than 8 pounds. I did go the full 8 weeks without picking up anything heavier than my purse and it broke my heart to not pick up my grandson who weighs 20+. I had the kids pick up everything for me since I was terrified about port flip, band problems, etc.

uggg.. I hate bras.
Yes yes yes! My bra hit just above my top incision. It took forever to heal up and even got infected somehow because of the rubbing. I put a ton of ointment on it and keep gauze on it.

Can anyone else feel/see your port protruding?
I can sort of see it, but I definitely feel it. The kids want to touch it and then pull their finger back laughing. LOL! They call me their own little "cyborg."

March 2013 Bandsters
I went in for my first fill on May 28th and the PA put in 2ccs into my band. I was down another 3 pounds. All total from March 3rd (banded on March 27th), I am down 26 pounds. ~Happy Dance~

Day after first fill.. Not feeling any difference
I had my first fill on Tuesday (5/28). My PA puts in 2cc as standard and than the next time I go in she will use do another fill. I feel very little restriction from the fill. I am still eating between 3-4 ozs of lean protein for lunch and dinner. However, I am staying full a little bit longer than before. I can't wait for my next fill on 6/18. Maybe a few more fills and you will find the "sweet spot." Good luck!

Nervous!
That's how I'm feeling right now! I get my first fill on Tuesday and I am starving now. I am eating the same thing I have been for two weeks and for some reason the last few days have been horrible. I've even watched a few pounds start to creep back.

This is what "ONLY" 30 lbs down looks like:
Looking GREAT!

Confused
Do NOT second guess yourself. Losing 10 pounds in 4 weeks is great. All bodies are different. At four weeks I was at the soft food stage. Take small bites and chew. You CAN do this!

How soon can i start excersizing??
That's what my PT paperwork says. 6-8 weeks for everything except walking. They wanted me walking a few hours after surgery to get things moving and the gas to expel.

back to work
I think it depends on your job. If you are doing a lot of lifting, stretching, etc that may not be a good idea. I was told 3-4 weeks and than I could actively look for a job.

Feeling Down
You and I had our banding done on the same day!! I have also lost 20 pounds. Please don't feel down. Everybody is different and will lose at different rates. If you are doing everything right, please don't worry. The weight will come off!!!

How soon can i start excersizing??
My doctor told me to walk walk and walk some more and definitely do not strain the stomach muscles while I am healing. The last thing I want is a flipped port and more surgery to fix it. Each doctor, of course, is different, but if it were me, I'd call the office tomorrow and ask when you can start exercising and what kind.

Sex?
I just looked on my lab papers and I will have a Vit D test in a little over a week. Thank you for the info.

Full
That's great about being in the green zone. I get my first fill May 7th and I am so looking forward to it.

Sex?
What is sex again? :/ I have had some horrible self esteem and I just have no sex drive at all. I am hoping that I will start to feel better as I lose the weight. I would think two weeks waiting and than see how you feel.

Regret
I cried for a week straight after surgery and regretted every single minute of my surgery. After the worse of the pain was gone and the hunger pangs started to die out a little I finally felt a little better. A month post-op now and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my decision. This too well pass! We are all here for you.

Protein shakes
I had the same problem after surgery. The first week was horrible. I would drink my shake and have horrible diarrhea. I switched to soy milk and haven't had a problem since. Thank goodness! Now I can take my shake out with me.

problem taking meds
Most pain medication I cannot take so my doctor gave me Dilaudid in pill form and Phenergan pill with no problems. I was told by my doctor's PA that I could take capsules, caplets and pills that were no bigger then the tip of my pinky.

Question for those who have kids 12 or over
I told all my kids. Three of which are still at home (ages 19, 17 and 12) and one that lives with his wife and child. I don't mind that their friends know. The kids did need to know because they had to understand that my eating would change. It has been a family thing really. They encourage me when I start getting annoyed that I can't have some of the things they are eating. Now I have no cravings for most of what they eat and only want my shakes and my meals. They have been wonderful through this.
