  • This is a great question! But, unfortunately your surgeon is the only one who can answer it. Good luck!!

  • Walk as much as you can until your doctor gives you the go ahead to do more. You do not want to cause complications.

My doctor told me to walk walk and walk some more and definitely do not strain the stomach muscles while I am healing. The last thing I want is a flipped port and more surgery to fix it. Each doctor, of course, is different, but if it were me, I'd call the office tomorrow and ask when you can start exercising and what kind.

i was told by my surgeon, no matter how well i feel to leave working out til 3 weeks or so after surgery, your insides are swollen and sore and you wont help them by working them out....Im UK so maybe they do things differently, but it makes sense to me....

vickie xx

3 weeks banded :s

six weeks usually for any surgery I would think this would be the same but do a lot of walking.

I guess everybody's different, but my doc gave me the go ahead on any activity except for repetitive heavy lifting. 8 days post op, I've been hitting the punching bag for 3 days now.

That's what my PT paperwork says. 6-8 weeks for everything except walking. They wanted me walking a few hours after surgery to get things moving and the gas to expel.
