You have the same stats as me that's awesome! What are your comorbitities?

Thanks everyone... I'm 5'6 235lbs. BMI 37.5 with asthma, reflux, insomnia and possibly sleep apnea (sleep study this weekend)... I know he didn't mean it bad but my goal is 135 that's 100lb weight loss!!! I need this surgery to change my life!

Anyone else on a 6 month supervised program before surgery?? My insurance requires it... But my BMI is only 37 so I really can't lose weight or I won't be approved. Is it bad that I'm starting to gain? Has anyone gained on the 6 month supervised weight loss and still been approved by insurance??

I have a bunch of tattoos - Chinese symbol for Strength/power on my foot, a lily with my daughters name above it on my ankle, a dolphin on my hip (hate this one and plan on covering it with a band related tattoo when I'm at my goal weight), a cross with a tear and a lily for my grandma, a tattoo with a quote on my shoulder in memory of my dad, and live strong on my wrist (my favorite tattoo) also for my dad I got that one while he was battling cancer... Tattoos are just another way for us to express ourselves! I've spent the last 8 years covering up bc I'm "fat" - can't wait to show them again... :-) I love this post!!!

I'm August 5th and can't wait!! I also had the 6 month requirements and feel like I'm at the surgeon, nutritionist and doctors daily lol!! Hoping to start my pre-op diet July 15th... :-) can't wait till we're all living the banded life!

I am in the exact same boat! I went as far as to Call my insurance myself to make sure my doctor didn't make a mistake saying the 6 months were required... I do know that this will go fast now... In June I'm quitting smoking 8 weeks pre-op and July I'll already be starting the pre-op diet... So I'm hoping this home stretch will go quickly and August 5th is around the corner!! Lol my biggest fear is being denied after all this... :-/

How far along are you?? June 5th is 2 months till surgery- my 5th month in my 6 month requirements... It is going so slow I wish it was sooner!! Oh well more time to prepare I guess!!

I have the same requirement through my insurance... I'm in month 4 and my surgery is scheduled for aug 5th. My biggest fear is going through all this - I've been to non stop doctors and what if they still deny it?? I'm petrified I just want to know for sure already!!!

I'm a little late responding... But did you need 6 months prep before surgery?! I was told by the office I'm going to that I need 6 months of weight loss monitored before approval- did you?

I know this probably seems ridiculous - and I'm really just inquiring if anyone did this??! I have a vacation in Montauk less than a week before my surgery - can I have a few drinks while on my pre-surg diet? My dr. Said it won't really hurt but I shouldn't. ... If I can't I won't - but I'm just wondering! Trust me I've been more than compliant and plan to continue to be... But I really want to enjoy my vacation and its bad enough I'll be on my pre-op diet! Lol

Was wondering the same thing! I'm getting banded during my beach volleyball season and want to return for the end of the season! If anyone knows please let me know! :-)

Marfar - I know! But I didn't want to put off the surgery too long and I have another vacation 2 weeks after the surgery! Lol I feel like "so what! The vacation may suck a little but the rest of my skinny life will rock!" Lol

I'm still pre-surgery and completing insurance requirements- but this is something I'm trying to prepare for... The fact I may never be ok with how I look

I am fairly new here as well! I love it and I find most are very supportive! 1 thing that does scare me is the negative stories... I joined this forum for that reason- I want to go into banded life knowing EVERYTHING that could but hopefully won't happen!!! I just definitely have to keep an open mind. My surgery is scheduled for August 5th.

I'm August 5th - I'm dealing with the same excitement/fear... It seems to me that every single persons results are different, side effects are different - but much more positive Than negative! I'm glad you joined this site it's helped me so much and I feel like no matter what I Experience post op I will have seen someone on here post about similar circumstances. Welcome!! Thanks! I actually am 3 months into the preparation already and feel like I couldn't be more prepared - although I know I always could be! Lol I'm just SO happy to have a date now to work toward!

Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this app. I've started the process toward lap band and this site is so informative! Your stories of success and bumps in the road are reassuring me that my decision is the right one!!! I'm in month 3 of a 6 month pre-surgery requirements by my insurance Before it can even be brought to insurance for approval. So afraid they'll deny the surgery :-(... I'm 234lbs. And 5'6"... My BMI is 37 but I also have severe reflux, asthma, and insomnia. Can't wait to change my life for the better and get back in shape! Hope you guys can help support me and I'll do the same!

I know! And I'm struggling with losing weight now -I keep thinking I'll lose it with the surgery - but I need to be smarter now. I'm on the cusp for BMI and I'm afraid to lose too much.

I have magnacare also and my surgeons office told me I need 6 months of supervised weight loss. I've completed 2 months so July will be my last 6 month visit - I see this was November just after hurricane ... What ever happened? Were you approved?
