  1. No' date=' it really isn't. There are a select few of people here that are supportive, everyone else lives on a high horse because of lack of moderation and barriers set forth by the staff to tell people to sit down and shut up if they're just going to preach on about how perfect they are and what everyone else needs to do. If you're seriously in need of support, I would find a support group close by, or find several select members here whom you can relate to and seek support from them.[/quote']

Thanks for the heads up. Local support group meets monthly but i guess i will stick to my fb and YouTube for online support. I use to use rnytalk.com but i am getting the sleeve do i switched here... Let tell you, big difference.

  2. Good grief. This is a scary leap of faith for most of us. I was a smoker who loved beer' date=' hated exercise, and was completely addicted to food. I was not ready mentally to have this surgery. It was terrifying to enter into unknown territory.

Now I'm down 75 lbs. and guess what? I'm smoking again (bad, I know), now I drink wine and some mixed drinks, I still don't exercise and I eat out all of the time. AND I'm still losing weight.

I'm no failure and no person can tell me if I had a right to go through this process.

Plus....I'm lookin' pretty damn good and having a hellofa time.[/quote']

    High five!

  3. And support means not just to say its ok cheat start again tomorrow. Pre op and po directions are there so we will nit have complications and succeed it does no help for people looking for info or support to read about cheating prior to surgery knowing full well that its dangerous. Support is helping each other make it not help them make excuses this is a lifestyle change period. You don't support people taking chances before they are healed or go under the knife now I am not being sarcastic I have right to how I understand it

I see where you're coming from but there is a difference between kicking someone down after they make a mistake and picking somebody up after they make a mistake.

weren't you a lap band to vertical sleeve, how would you have felt if no one gave you a second chance. The whole point of this procedure is to change our lives it is to give us a second chance not to rub my mistakes interface

  4. you realize you are talking to people who have had bad connections with food. We cannot be perfect. We have struggled with this food and its emotional connections for our entire lives for some of us and for others for years. You cannot make a general stereo type like you have. if you are going to tell people that they aren't going to succeed add that they shouldn't get the surgery because they can't be perfect other diets that I think you don't belong in the support group. Because this is a SUPPORT group

  5. everybody makes mistakes. What is important is that you can acknowledge them. That is the only way you will be successful with this surgery. Perfection is not always the case. We are here to support and encourage each other.

eating is an emotional game. We don't eat because we just randomly want to there are always feelings incorporated with it, its not always black and white.

Good for you for seeing it and knowing that it won't happen again.

  6. I can't speak for stopping birth control or not before surgery' date=' probably a DR question. But if you don't want a baby, do something afterward. I am a lap bander who lost weight, got pregnant and gained weight back, not all of it but enough. Now having horrible problems with band and awaiting insurance approval for a sleeve revision. After losing about 75lbs, I got pregnant. We tried for 10 years to get pregnant and it happened as soon as I got to the magic number. It was a wonderful miracle and we are happy with our lovebug but if you don't do some kind of birth control, you will likely get a bundle of joy! Good luck on your surgery and I hope to not be far behind you for surgery.[/quote']

Thank you. I'm happy you got the family you wanted. Best of luck with the revision :) fingers crossed for you

  7. Hey guys. So I'm new to this forum... I was originally going to get rny but decided on the vsg. I am scheduled for surgery may 20.

Anywho i was curious how bc plays a role in surgery before and after? I know it's virtually ineffective with rny but what about vsg?? Also did you ladies have to stop before surgery because of risk for blood Clots?
