texas.whirlwind.1975 got a reaction from Hooghunt in My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet
Tawnya,
I want to thank you for posting your daily experience on the pre-op. I start mine in about two weeks and have been very curious about other people's experiences. It's nice to have an idea of what I'm in for!

texas.whirlwind.1975 got a reaction from LapBandit2013 in Salon/barber chairs & weight limit
Just FYI...
The standard weight capacity of most salon chairs is around 350 lbs. Personally, I would blame the salon for not maintaining their equipment or buying a sub-standard product!
Go, get your hair done, you deserve it!!

texas.whirlwind.1975 got a reaction from parisshel in Getting banded today and having mixed feelings already....
I have to agree with the person that said your husband is being a d*ck. If he's one of those selfish a-holes that think you'll lose weight and leave him...well, with the way he's treating you, maybe you will. But, that will be HIS OWN DANG FAULT!! Quite honestly, if it were me, I'd tell him as much. Then again, I've been divorced...twice, so I might not be the best relationship-advice-giver. lol
I commend you for doing what you need to do, for yourself! Best of luck with the surgery and keep all of us posted. -hugs-

texas.whirlwind.1975 got a reaction from dawalsh in Bari-Buddy
Not sure if anyone else has heard of these, but my bar-buddy moose arrived today. A gift from my ex-husband (yes, we are actually good friends). Anyway, you use them post-surgery when you cough or move around, they have a firm, flat back to press against you abdomen. Helps keep you from feeling like your guts are gonna fall out.

Adding to Parisshel's comment, they actually make abdominal surgery pillows. They're hard and you press them against you when you cough. Here's a link: http://www.tummypillow.com/

texas.whirlwind.1975 got a reaction from cat whisperer in First one for May???
Hello all!
I'm scheduled for the iband (banded plication) on May 24th in Fort Worth Texas. I am so freaking excited. I noticed several of you have children born May 16th. I, myself, am a May 16th baby...or I was back in 1975!!!
I've read comments from a lot of people...I don't want to say "whining" but whining about how they'll be on the liquid portion of the diet during birthdays or other special occasion. I don't get the sadness over it to be honest. Personally, I look at it as a relatively small challenge considering what all of us are living with (the extra weight and medical issues). Our lives have to change for us to be successful and gain a new lease on life. For me, the sooner the better!...Like I said...I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!!
Now, don't get me wrong...I dread the liquid pre-op diet. Luckily, I'm an optimist (at least right now, we'll see how long it lasts into the liquid phase, lol). At this moment, I can't wait to start the liquid diet! Why? Because that means I'm only a couple of weeks from surgery!! Yeehaw!!
I can't wait to lose enough weight that my arms don't look too short for my body. Goodbye Tyrannosaurus arms!! Raarrr!!

texas.whirlwind.1975 reacted to Terry Poperszky in Salon/barber chairs & weight limit
OMW, this is a phrase that I wouldn't expect to hear outside of the great state of Utah, or have the polygamy shows made it more common.

First off, your husband is a D**k! I don't care if you agree, but you support your spouse's decisions.
Secondly what you are experiencing is normal, stop focusing on what might happen, and focus on why you want the surgery. Yes, you are going to be uncomfortable, yes, you are going to experience pain, yes you have a long journey ahead of you.
Best wishes.
