  1. Lol, my dog looks at me crazy to. I recommend some throat spray especially if you feel the need to cough. This is the best place to vent seeing as we all are going through the same thing. Yay for all the husbands and wives that support their spouses through this hard but incredible journey, they really deserve a BIG THANKS!!! My husband is my rock even though at first he did not want me to have this surgery. I told him I needed to do this for me, my health, and just to feel better about myself. He understood when I explained it to him and has been very supportive since.
  2. That's good that the itchy feeling in throat went away. I'm going to have to try the whole ice thing. It's crazy, because I swear I'm more hungry now after surgery than before. Honestly I have just been sleeping a lot. I think our bodies just need rest. Have you been getting in 8 cups of water every day? The last two days has not been good for me as far as water intake. Stay strong, you got this!!! Good luck at the dr's!!!
  3. Take it easy and rest. When you do get up to use the restroom try to get a little walking in. It does get better. Wishing you the best!!!
  4. Wow that's a long time. Stay strong. If you need anyone to vent to I will be here.
  5. I have been having this itching feeling in my throat and had to cough and sneeze several times, that pain I would not wish on anyone. I got out of the house today with my husband and was able to go to the video store and walk around. Going to for sure try to sleep in my bed tonight. I hope your gas pain goes away soon. I hear you on not wanting to eat jello and broth anymore. I'm so sick of the same stuff, but I'm hanging in there. At least your appt is on Thursday. Mine isn't until the 16th. I'm hanging in there. We are both doing an awesome job.
  6. Today I was feeling 99% better. I got my 8 cups of water in and can get around a lot easier without being winded. I tried this nectar shake mix that the dietician gave to me as a sample, I added milk with it and it was the best thing I have had since being on a liquid diet. It tasted just like cookies and cream ice cream. I'm so going to go buy a big container of that. I also have this other shake from GNC and its pumpkin, I love pumpkin. I got about 400 calories in today. Wasn't planning on taking anymore meds until out of the blue I had this itch in my throat, I kept trying to drink water to make it go away so I didn't have to cough, but it was unavoidable. I screamed for someone to help me since I was laid back in the recliner. My husband came rushing to help sit me up, but by then I was already coughing and I couldn't find anything to put pressure on my abdomen except my hands. That was the worst freaking pain since surgery. I took the pain meds after and put the heating pad on. I feel better now, but I never want to cough again.
  7. I was also banded on May 1st. Believe me if anyone was scared it was me and I did second guess myself several times especially since I have anxiety and panic attacks. I had to way the pros and cons. Did I really want to be fat the rest of my life, I already tried every diet and wasn't successful so why would I be now without the surgery. If I have the surgery I know I will be in good hands and make it through just fine and they will give me something to calm my nerves. Yes I will be in pain after, but is it worth being healthy and fitting clothes I would live to wear. So I made my decision based on this was my last chance to lose weight. I'm still healing, but it's not horrific. If you choose the right dr then there should be no complications especially not death. Good luck on your decision and think positive
  8. Today was a better day. Just one day at a time right. Two of my incisions bother me still, but mostly the one that's 3 inches long. It still feels like its going to rip open when I stand up. Taking showers seem to help with softening up the incisions which helps the pain. I finally got on my bed today with the help of a step ladder, pillows, and my husband...lol... It turned out to be not so comfortable so I went back downstairs to the recliner. My husband also brought me down a rocking chair with the rocking ottoman from my sons room. It was nice to finally sit up instead of just laying in the recliner. I did good today with getting more water in and more calories. I got about 8 cups of water and 490 calories. I'm still taking meds, but only after I am up a lot doing things and it starts to hurt. The meds help me relax and be able to sleep. Rest has definitely helped with healing. Not to be gross, but I finally had a bowel movement and it made my abdomen feel even better. I'm hoping by Monday I can actually get outside and take a walk. My weight is still the same from the day of surgery, but I'm guessing its just from not getting enough calories and the swelling from the gas and surgery. Can't wait to see the scale drop again.
  9. I am doing much better. Although I still have incision pain when I stand up. I have this really big incision across my abdomen about 3 inches and its the one that bothers me the most and feels like its ripping open. I want to leave the house to, but I don't think I'm ready, because I still have problems catching my breath. I hope you got out and your shopping trip went good. Your doing an awesome job!!!

    May Surgery Dates???

Whoops should have read all the post before I asked. That's good that your surgery went great. I unfortunately had pain following my surgery on the 1st. I feel better today. I think most of my pain is from my hernia.

    May Surgery Dates???

    How did your surgery go?
  12. Yesterday I got released from the hospital around 2pm. When I got home it was really hard for me to take a shower and use the restroom, because of the pain from my incisions which felt like they were going to rip open. The hot shower did feel good. When I stand up one of my incisions caves in and looks disfigured. I hope when it heals it looks better. I think most of my pain is from my hernia repair. I had to have my husband help get me dressed and to get up and sit down. I was kinda missing the hospital where I could push a button for my meds. I have been using a heating pad for my back and abdomen which seems to be helping. I tried to sleep as much as I can and every time I had to get up to use the restroom I would walk around before sitting back down. Thank goodness for my reclining couches which has a button to bring up the recliner electronically , it makes it so much easier to get up and is so comfortable. That's going to be my bed for the next few days. I was able to get in a 4oz protein shake and 1 1/2 bottles of water. Today I was feeling much better and was able to get up on my own and do things on my own. It still felt like my incisions were ripping open, but I pushed through it. I managed to get more walking in today. I also was able to take in more liquids today, but my calories are still low around 240. I feel really itchy today and I think that is just from the meds and gas the doc pumps you up with. I'm going to try to get some Benadryl tomorrow for the itching. I have a lot of pressure in my upper abdominal area and chest which is making it hard to breath especially when I get up, and I think that is from the hernia repair. My sugar levels are completely normal now. Can't wait to be healed, just taking it one day at a time.
  13. I'm glad to hear that your liquid diet is going good. 4 pounds in two days is awesome. Your so strong being able to work next to a bakery on a liquid diet, especially the first few days. Keep up the good work. Thanks for your support I'm doing better today. I'm so glad my post can be useful to you. You gotta let me know how your surgery goes. I wish you all the best on your journey
  14. I feel the same way, better today vs yesterday. I have the same fear about my incisions ripping open. It's so nice to be able to have someone to relate to that had their surgery on the same date.

    Banded Today

Congrats!!! I can't even tell where my port is. I feel most of my pain in my stomach and chest, which I think is from the hernia repair.
  16. Pre op diet does suck, but at least you didn't have to do two weeks and after surgery you most likely wont even care about food, at least for the first few days.
  17. That's good news!!! Congrats!!!
