Surgery has risks, a small risk, but very real.
Here is how I looked at it, I was 150# overweight and had 100% chance of weight related disability and early death. i was willing to risk the very small chance of a leak or other serious complication given those odds. Best decision of my life - but I too was terrified.

Hi Frankie, I have the same surgery date as you and I started at 513lbs,,,,we are in the same boat,,,,must be a hell of a big boat,,,LOL. Yes, there can be complications but there can be complications with anything. You and I both know that if we don't act and do this surgery, our days are numbered. I am 42yo and I feel that my luck will run out soon if I don't make the change. Just stay positive and think about all the good things that will come out of the surgery. For me, it is playing with my kids, going on rides with them and just being here for a long time with my wife and kids and someday grandkids. Good luck and keep your head up!!!!

I think some of you may misunderstand me i really really want the lap band i have had to convince my loved ones to convince them that me getting this done was ok because my parents and girlfriend were so scared. I have NEVER has surgery in my life so im terrified i have muster up just enough strength to know on the inside that i will go through with getting the lap band but when i see SOOO many people and news articles on the internet talking about how its gonna erode my stomach and it will need to be removed my main concern is i only wanna have 1 surgery i don't wanna have to go through getting it taken out. I really want this i need this im six foot 2 and bounce between 493 lbs and 500 lbs so this is something that means alot to me in no way would i NAY SAY or talk bad about the lap band it just im so scared and when i read all those things it terrifies me. like i said i could just cry because i need this...
