  1. I lost 20lbs in a week so it is working so far. I am not superhuman and couldn't eat less than 1200 per day but when I did I lost weight so I was in pure hell...my dr, nut and surgeon actually said I was the perfect candidate because I will eat less calories and when I get to goal and am maintaining I will be at my pre op calories which helped me maintain.
  2. It wasnt you hun. I had posted a thread pre op asking what flavors people like best and people were lecturing like crazy.
  3. Plenty of people are fat and dont eat a lot I'm not some rare species. As a teenager I probably ate 1800-2000 calories which according to drs that should be enough to maintain but i was gaining instead..looking back at it from pre op when I was eating about 1200 a day for a few years I guess I might say that is over eating but when I came on here and see that some people go back for thirds at dinner and can finish a whole large popcorn on their own I dont think I was over eating at all.
  4. It wasnt a rule I was just saying if you have a drink that is 10 oz and 300 calories and you only drink 5oz of it make sure you divide the calories in half and log 150calories instead of 300. I dont get why this turned into such a big deal.
  5. Anyone else been lectured to and what about?
  6. I am really sick and tired of being lectured on this site...people assuming just because I was fat, that I had an unhealthy relationship with food. Not everyone was like this! Pre op, I never ate to excess because when I was full I would stop eating. (I was on a low calorie lifestyle change and stuck with it for years...I stuck with it so I wouldn't gain weight) Fat people get this stereotype from those on the outside all the time (that we eat a lot)and I finally thought this was a place of non judgement. I am aware many on this site got the way they are because they ate a lot but not everyone. Same goes with exercising: people are lecturing that you have to make sure you exercise daily or else and half of these holier than now lectures haven't seen the inside of a gym until this year. Which isnt a problem because they have chosen to make a change but do not lecture others when you dont know their history. Finally...being lectured about my post op drinks. Everyone is given a list by their drs and are not supposed to stray away from that list. I was told 2oz 3x per day of boost, ensure, atkins, slim fast, etc. I am constantly being told these are not healthy...and being read the nutrition facts..um I have it right in front of me and can read but honestly if my dr says to drink it I will.
  7. I was well aware that your tastes change post op and for some everything tastes sweeter. . Well I am part of that some...I have to plug my nose to drink my protein drinks. But i am having trouble with clear liquid varieties. I have tried it all: different flavored crystal lights, mio flavoring, dasani flavoring, flavored water, isopure protein water (never again), diet iced teas, zero calorie vitamin water and gatorade etc. Everything tastes too sweet to me and I even tried watering down everything. ..anyone with this problem have any suggestions about what else to try?...I'm frankly getting sick of plain water. Also when does this period of eeverything tasting so sweet end? I am told it is temporary.
  8. I only weigh once per week but on Thursday which was one week post op I weighed 247...I started at 268 on May 23rd ( this was my highest weight since I had no pre op diet) My goal is 165, so I had 103lbs to lose...I lost 21lbs so I lost 20% of excess weight. Went from a bmi of 40 to 37! It really varies person to person and there's not much people can do the first couple of weeks besides follow your doctors orders.
  9. ive actually seen higher weight losses...but i know i wont lose anywhere close to that amt every week. My starting weight was 268lbs and I'm 5'9". My weight on thursday (one week post op ) was 247lbs. I only wanna weigh once per week. My surgery was on May 23rd. On my app I cannot see profile pics so I cannot return the compliment wholeheartedly but I'm sure you look good too..thanks for the compliment. My goal weight is 165
  10. Sorry if that came across wrong Im just sick of people saying these protein shakes are bad when we have no other choice and obviously this diet is working
  11. Ill take some benadryl at night but it makes me too tired during the day
  12. Are you confusing stomach gargling for hunger?
  13. My dr said ensure, atkins, boost, etc drinks 2oz 3x per day plus fluids...if u dont get the full protein for 2 weeks you will be fine. I am 10 days out and am a lot more active than others at this stage (back to work at 5 days, back to the gym at 7 days, went to a concert at 8 days) so my dr allowed me some unflavored protein to add to my water.
  14. I know the itching is because the incisions are healing but what helps best for soothing this?
  15. Mine is as follows: Day 1 & 2: clear liquids Weeks 1&2: clear liquids and on day 3 start on Protein shakes 2oz 3x per day. (I am a lot more active early on than most...back at work at 5 days, at the gym at 7 so I added Protein powder to my water) Week 3: add in cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs and canned/soft vegetables (everything should be cut up to the size of a pencil eraser) 2oz 4x per day Week 4: add fish, poached, baked, canned (plus anything allowed before hand) Week 5: add lean chicken and turkey Week 6: add lean beef Try to get a 1/2- a gallon of Water per day I'm 10 days out and feel great!
