    a little down

I'm scared of the exact opposite. I do have high self esteem now because over the years ive come to realize I'm a beautiful pleasantly plump woman. Im worried that when I lose weight I wont have as much confidence as this is merely a health change for me. I am not attracted to other women and feel everyone is beautiful but I think if I was attracted to other women I would go for a bigger woman because I just think bigger women are better looking. Ive had the exact opposite experience with men, men who say they like women with curves (but who knows they can say to a thin woman they like women thin). I'm also engaged to a man who met me at my current size and while he says he loves me and will be behind me 100 percent I cant help but to think he chose me for a reason, what if he no longer finds me attractive after weight loss? What if I no longer find myself attractive? Has anyone had these issues or thought about these things pre op?
  2. How long does it take for incisions to heal? My surgery is May 23rd and id hate to go an entire summer without swimming

    excess skin

My insurance is great and will cover a tummy tuck and breast augmentation but nothing else..however I'm only on it until I'm 26, I'm 23 now. I probably dont want a tummy tuck until after I have kids anyway. I'm getting ahead of myself I havent even had the survery yet lol. I will take lots of pictures if I notice excess skin. Thanks for the advice
  4. Just joined this group..was going to do the band but my doctor answered a lot of my questions and sleeve it is. Just curious if anyone here is from CT (getting my surgery done at Yale)..looking for some buddies and maybe a mentor

    CT sleevers

I think it would be cool to start a clothing swap. Meet once a month kind of thing and swap with people who are at different points in their weight loss period.

    February Sleevers

You can also see if your gym has one if you dont want to buy one
  7. I just met with my surgeon today. .I had all intents of doing the band and after meeting with him and answering some questions I've decided on the sleeve. My surgery is on May 23rd so excited!
  8. I haven't had surgery yet but have so many questions and you all have been nothing but helpful. I am wondering if after surgery, after your weight loss period, does everyone need a tummy tuck or has anyone got toned themselves? Is it possible to work off all the extra skin through exercise? Just wondering anyone elses experiences
  9. Thank you for your words of encouragment. He has told me he would love me regardless because I told him this fear..it just scares me but thank u
  10. Looking for a mentor in Ct. I do not have date set yet but I am meeting with surgeon tomorrow. Insurance has been approved and passed psychiatric and went for nutritional counseling all ready. I am getting band at Yale but anyone in CT will do. I live in northern Ct (Simsbury) but willing to travel anywhere in state to chat. Or if there is anyone who is about to get surgery or just did and wants to be buddies that would be awesome too.
  11. My goal is 150-165
  12. Mikeswife..I'm 265, been obese since I hit puberty and am 23 now. I am worried I will need a butt lift too (dont know the technical term) because I have a big bottom lol. Hopefully I will have a better paying job to save up fo tummy tuck and other reconstructive surgery in a few years. Thank you all
  13. I dont even have the surgery scheduled yet lol. Been approved and meeting with surgeon tomorrow. I'm 23 so I was told your skin has more elasticity at a young age so I hope most of excess skin will be gone because I dont know if I would be able to afford reconstructive surgery

    Excess Skin

I'm worried about this too. Most insurances dont cover plastic surgery so I am hoping not to have much excess skin
  15. I know this is not the same thing but i figured it was similar so i posted here: My bf is behind me 100% and knows its for health reasons..but what I am worried about is whether or not he will find me attractive later after weight loss. Attraction is a big part of a relationship whether people like to admit it or not. He says he loves me but he has always dated bigger women so im worried. What even worries me more is whether I will find myself attractive afterwards. I find myself beautiful now and am doing lapband for health reasons only. I'm worried about having no curves and it getting to my self esteem. Anyone else have this issue?

    Pre-op diet

I'm not having a hernia repair just the lap band..my insurance is covering it 100%. I will talk to the dr on tuesday..thanks for your help

    Pre-op diet

And how many calories do you eat during your pre op diet that may have to do with it. I eat 1200 calories regularly before surgery.

    Pre-op diet

I have a similar question. .I dont have date set yet but should be able to set it next week. I'm wondering if you lose too much weight will they still do the surgery? If I lose 4lbs I'm no longer qualified for surgery
  19. Sorry I couldn't think of a better title. I haven't gotten the surgery done yet but am in the process of setting up an appointment for surgery. One positive I was told about getting the surgery done at a young age is that your skin stretches back easier. Not completely but easier. I also know that in a few years after surgery I want to have children. Has anyone around my age 23 had surgery without needing a tummy tuck soon after? I would wait until I was done having kids if I was going to get one.
  20. So I just went to my psychiatric evaluation and nutritionist appt yesterday. I passed them both now I'm just waiting to hear from the surgeons. My insurance covers the entire procedure. Since I haven't talked to the drs yet I still have a few questions. Will I never be able to go out to dinner again? The nutritionist made it seem like I will be eating cottage cheese and fish for the rest of my life. From what ive heard after your weight loss period you can eat a little more (variety not quantity) but not a lot or else you will gain it back. The thing with me is I only eat when I'm hungry. I want to be able to have cake on my wedding day and a slice (not 3) of pizza one day. I want to one day be able to enjoy certain foods but obviously in moderation. Anyone who knows please let me know
  21. Sorry I'm posting so many threads today, just got this app and its been helpful so far. Just wondering what recovery times are for those who had the surgery done. By this I mean how many days did you have to wait before going back to work, going back to doing normal every day activities. Is this something I can get done on a Friday and be okay for work on monday or is it a week or more recovery. I know it is different for everyone but curious about your experiences
  22. Ive dieted 1200-1400 calories daily and work out 1-1.5 hours 6 days per week and am not losing weight. Your dr seems as ignorant as they get no offense. If this is what you want dont let him get in the way. You will have naysayers and those who are against it the whole way, dont let that get to you. I too am a "newbie" on this site and just started my process last week.
  23. I feel bad writing this but I had to pay $150 US for the nutritionist consult and the entire surgery is paid for. My mom has insurance through yale and I'm covered until 26 if I want.. I need to find a job at yale after grad school haha
  24. Anyone have surgery at Yale? Dont have a date set yet but my insurance is through yale so I will do it there, what were your experiences?
