  1. My surgeon required an overnight stay, and two full weeks out of work to give your body time to heal.
  2. When you use a provider that is out of you're network the provider reserves the right to balance bill you for the billable amount over what insurance pays because they are not required to accept the negotiated network rates. If your insurance would pay for you to have the surgery, why did you go out of network and not use a provider that would have accepted the insurance payment? You may or may not have legal recourse, especially if you have nothing in writing stating that the provider was going to give you a break on charges. Good luck.
  3. I'm looking to put together a local band group to meet once a month to get together and meet up to talk and support each other. I already have two people that went through my surgeon who are interested I'm joining. Just opening up to everyone else. Right now looking at doing meetings in Baltimore county, but if enough interest we can look at moving each month to a different area to accommodate more people. Feel free to email me if you might be interested...turtlesoup21230@gmail.com
  4. Instyle 98 key me know what you have in unjury. Email turtlesoup21230@gmail.com
  5. I was banded on march 25. I only told my boyfriend and my best friend who lives five states away. I did not tell Co workers our family. I told people that i was having my gall bladder out, and they have not questioned it. I didn't want to be constantly scrutinized about what i was eating or how much weight i was losing or not losing. Its a personal decision who to tell.
  6. I tend to do a protien shake for breakfast because I'm tight in the mornings and i can start the day with 27 grams of protien (
  7. Hi adugan, don't get discouraged. Mac and cheese is difficult to make healthy, more so because the reduced feast cheeseris not the best for melting. However, its going to be an experiment for you and your husbands can either eat what you fix or start cooking for himself. Something that may help is making your cheese sauce a roux so that the cheese melts smoother. And you will need a little fat in it so instead of all low fat cheese try a blend of half ref and half low fat.
  8. I choose to only tell my boyfriend (that i live with and who is my primary support) and my best friend who lives five states away. I did not tell coworkers because i didn't want the scrutiny of bring asked all the time how much weight i had lost or having everything i ate scrutinized. I didn't even tell my dad. As far as anyone is concerned, i had my gallbladder out. The scars are almost identical and the time off work is the same so it was easy to hide. However you will have to decide who to tell and not tell. I just didn't feel it necessary to tell everybody.
  9. I make chicken salad a lot to keep on hand...equals quick and ready meals especially when portioned out onto 1/2 cup servings. And if you use Greek yogurt to replace half of the mayo its creamy and higher Protein. I also bake homemade turkey meatballs using my mini muffin tin and then portion them into individual servings and freeze. Two minutes in the microwave and your set. Protein rich Soups are good to. Homemade chicken tortilla or turkey chili works great. But so does campbells bean with bacon with added quinoa to boost protien and Fiber. Just make soup according to package directions and then add 1/2 cup rinsed quinoa and bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Top with low fat cheese. I was banded the same day as you and i can't imagine having to worry about four small mouths and feeding myself also.
  10. One canister is 17 servings. 1 scoop = 1 serving
  11. Hey terpfan, i tried to send you a message about trying to put together a band group in balt county.
  12. Hi nenny, My doctor said to stop birth control pills for two months after surgery because they increase your chance of clots. You really need to check with your doctor though.
  13. Mine is tight in the morning, but I've also found that humidity seems to make it tighter, along with stress and that time of the month. Some people say allergies can also tighten their bands.
  14. Its the only brand i USSR. I've never used any other. The chocolate splendor is the best. The vanilla is good. I tried the strawberry and its good but I'm not a strawberry fan. The chicken soup flavor will be good for those times that you are sick of sweet, and the unflavored its great to add to your favorite soups and puddings.
  15. I haven't had a large loss post surgery....only about 4 lbs in two months. I'm wondering if anyone else has started off losing slow but was still successful in the long run. I have about 150 lbs to go to reach my goal, after losing 54 lbs during the presurgery withing period. I'm two weeks into my first fill, and i don't weigh again until my next fill on June 14. I'm losing inches just not pounds. Appreciate your advice!
  16. My surgeon says two weeks and it was 2.5 before i went back and i have a desk job. The first week i was so exhausted. I slept tons and was adjusting to the post op diet. By the start of week two i felt like i could have gone back, and by day 14 i was antsy at the forced time off. Long story short, listen to your body. Don't go back until your ready to. This is still a major surgery and you need time to heal.
  17. I asked this question of my surgeon, and he advised the following... Take stool softener daily. Add fiber (powdered) as step two if needed. If that doesn't help to move things then move on to miralax. He would prefer no Miralax at all except a last resort.
  18. I use regular helmans but do it half and half with Fage 0% Greek yogurt. Its actually super creamy and I've used it to make chicken salad, pasta salad, and pimento cheese. I dont like the taste and texture of the lite mayos, and this helps to reduce the amount used and adds some extra protein.
  19. Yw. Good luck! And toy can't go wrong with unjury. Its the best.
  20. The protien shake debate has been had multiple times. Use the search feature to help you find previous postings on this topic.
  21. You might want to try posting this in the surgeons/hospital forum. And you might need to provide more info.
  22. Is there a reason you haven't gotten a fill yet? What does your surgeon say?
  23. Are you sure you're band is empty?i thought mine was until i got stuck the first time and then my surgeon told me that there was 3cc in my 10cc band. I now have 5cc and not a lot of consistent restriction. But you're weight loss is great considering the average is 1-2 lbs a week. I've only lost 4 lbs since my March surgery.
  24. You can get a sample pack from Unjury that comes with 2 packs of five flavors including unflavored. They also include a shaker jar and a food thermometer. Its about $22 plus 7 for overnight shipping. Great investment.
