Well you cover a lot of ground in that thread. If you aren't going to follow the rules then maybe the band isn't for you. If your doc isn't supportive maybe he/she's not the doc for you. It might be a good idea to get some professional support group help with someone that can give you face to face answers. If I were you I'd look for a lap band support group in my area and maybe seek the counsel of a therapist for several of those issues.

You can still out your family first with out neglecting yourself. I do it everyday. Something with the ban you need that will power and you are going to have to be able to follow through or it wont work. See the therapist. It will help you and you will have much success with your band

I would be frustrated too but do not give up. Just like the 2 week pre op diet it sucks but it is what you have to do to get the surgery. Do what they say and do not give up on yourself. I believe in you!

Hi... I agree with the above comments... "I'm just sitting here crying ready to give up" you have a defeated attitude already.
Lapband is not an easy fix - recovery is painful, and you will have to rest and be on liquids, it's a lot of sacrifice and you have to change your lifestyle drastically. You can't have breads, beers, sodas, etc... not a lot of people understand that - and if your psych wants you to get therapy, then maybe you have some underlying issues that you have to work out... Take your psych's advice and go through the process.... You will be a better LB patient for it
    Hang in there

What will really be exciting is when you can leave that plus size side and go to the regular side of the store. If you are in 1x now you are very close. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I used to hate shopping. Nothing looked good anyway so what was the point. But the day that day that I went shopping and had to go to the regular side was an amazing feeling. My daughter was with me and we had a blast. she was bringing outfits to the dressing room saying "here mom, try this. it will look great on you." I don't know who was more excited, me or her. There are so many more options when you get to those sizes. Keep on working at it girl!

Had a nice lunch with my mom and then we hit the mall, oh my, it had been a while since I had been shopping and boy was it fun. Ended up in a regular department store, plus size section but regular department store and purchased size 1X shirts, I was so excited. This time last year I was wearing size 26/28 and they were tight and 3X's were beginning to get tight. I still have big arms so I buy 3/4 length sleeves plus I stay cold all the time anyway year around so it doesn't bother me but these shirts were super duper cute. Just had to share. thx.

So today was my first fill. I can't believe when I got on their scale 5 weeks after surgery I have lost 22 lbs from the beginning of my preop diet started:) yay.
Back to the fill it was the weirdest feeling ever!! No pain and he walked me thru the whole thing. Then he had me drink barium and took an X-ray. When I drank the stuff it was the worse he showed it going thru perfectly but I felt like it was stuck. So he took some out and I instantly felt better. He only took half a Cc out. I feel more like a bandster now that I it my first fill yay:)
