1 Month Post Op Today!
Today marks 1 month post op!! I feel like its been a year since my surgery but its only been 4 weeks and its went by soooooooo fast lol. I can sit here and say this is by far the best decision that I have ever made and I'm following my doctors guidelines to a T and I'm feeling back to normal now and getting out ever other day and exercising. I have been eating soft foods for the past few weeks and today I can start solid foods! I'm going to wait another week before I start solids again since I have stocked up on a lot of foods! Since about 2-3 weeks post op I have been gradually working my excersise and I'm currently training for a 5k run in September. It feels so good that I am back walking/jogging again knowing about 3 months ago I would be able to walk but not for long.... I have been portion sizing my meals like its no ones business and sticking to even though I could eat a little more but keeping myself at bay and knowing in the future I would be eating portion sizes 1-2 cups of food and I know doing this would get me prepared Well since being 4 weeks post op, I have lost 48pounds to date since March 7th 2013 (344 was my highest weight recorded at my consultation weight). Its feels so good to know in 4 months I have lost all that extra weight I had been carrying around for awhile. I have been very motivated since the start of my journey when I started my Pre-Op diet and I'm full of confidence. I have met a lot of awesome people on this website and I'm very grateful to have everyones support along the way of my journey. I started a video log on Youtube and I have met a lot of good people on there too. It keeps tabs on myself and knowing that I'm documenting my journey will only help me motivate myself even more in the future! Thanks for all the support everyone -Amine

Yeah I was thinking about keeping a blog but I would rather talk about it lol. Yeah it feels awesome and its going to nothing but positive things in the future! I was going to mention that you need to have a email account to subscribe to me on youtube. If you have an email address (I'm assuming you do!) and just create an account on youtube and then just go to my channel and click subscribe!

Thanks NTA I really appreciate you tuning in! I try my best to talk straight but I get so nervous and think I sound stupid!! I'm so glad I quit smoking and it feels so good to be able to breathe again! My dad is doing a ton better and hes quit smoking for almost 3 weeks now! I am feeling a ton better for sure and I feel better than ever and have a smile on my face all the time! I have gotten a lot of stares and man you look good!! in the past few weeks and it just motivates me to do more. I'll be 4 weeks post op this Tuesday!! The biggest things that have motivated me is watching other peoples journeys on YouTube and just looking back at how I was in the past 7+ years. I also want to run a 5k at some point and I have started the training last week. You just need to find the time if you live a pretty busy lifestyle! Just start out slow and then work your way up and don't try to overdo it!!

Just banded and need answers. :)
Stick to your doctors guidelines if you gotten them!! I had got stuck on chicken too but I didn't throw up I just let it pass. Just make sure you chew!! Its going to take time to get used to the lifestyle trust me I'm still getting used to it myself and I have pounded it in my head over and over!! Don't be discouraged! I don't think you would get slipped band becuase of throwing up one time.

Sounds like you got the hang of everything and your doing pretty good! I was banded on May 21st and I'm 3 weeks post op. Just make sure when you move on to new foods plan on eating them during dinner time (thats what I do cause thats when I feel more hungry during the day) I'm going to be back on solids next week and I can't wait!! It gets better every week healing and you feel a ton better I'm already starting to train for my first 5k but I'm taking it slow. Good luck on your journey!!

Met my surgeon
Bayou, Not to add to what you have already said but I think you came out a little strong. It sounds like she knows what she wants and is getting her self prepared for the journey ahead. Alot of the things you are mentioning are true and people need to understand but bringing negative comments about people failing after getting a lap band. Everyone is human and we all make mistakes, I know I do! I sure knew what I got myself into before I got banded last month and know its going to be a challenge and learning experience for me. I'm pretty sure she knows what she's getting herself into and has a good mindset going into it. -Amine

Did you feel restriction prior to your first fill?
I'm two weeks post-op as of yesterday. I haven't had any issues with getting food down but I only have about 0.5-1cc of Fluid in my 10cc band. I do feel a little restriction when I took a big bit of a boiled egg and I got that stuck feeling. Felt a little bit of pressure and burped and a little bit of it came up. It all comes down to taking to big of a bite and eating to fast. Def a learning experience for me and a lesson to not eat fast again! I have my first fill on July 1st and I'm not sure how much fluid I'm going to get but I'm sure it will be in 1-2cc increments. What I have done since the after surgery was portioned my foods in 1/2 cup containers. It has helped me a lot and preparing myself after I get back onto normal foods! -Amine

Start over? Revision to sleeve?
I also would be the first to admit that a lot of people in my life don't think WLS is the way to go to lose weight and become healthy. They just don't know how much I have been through struggling with my weight and the medications that I'm on in the past 5 years. Your always going to have your doubters on topics on things especially WLS. Remember that you had WLS for yourself and no one else and your taking control of your health and life. Peoples opinions mattered to me but I know what I signed up for when I had surgery on May 21st this year. Peoples negative opinions motivate me to do better and prove myself. It all comes down to your mental attitude and being able to make the right decisions and not the wrong ones. Your the master of your mind and you fall down and you get right back up! You will have your bad days and good days. You know you have the power to change your habits and turn everything around! It will take time but you can do it -Amine

1st thing to eat post op
Hey Ginger! I had broth and mostly water the first day after surgery and then I went to full liquids. I was eating yogurt, pudding and cream Soups. I have pretty much been on that stuff until today. Had my 1 week post op appointment in Clinton yesterday. I'm on pureed and soft foods now. Your still healing at this point and your not going to feel much hunger. I just tried to get something down at least every 4 hours or so I wouldn't build up pressure when I would start to feel hungry and my stomach would growl. Glad to see your doing good!
