Just a update from me! My paperwork went into the insurance company on April 3rd and I got approved in a week!. May 1st Pre-Op visit and then surgery on May 21st!

Yeah I'm going through IBC. They have been awesome so far and I'm waiting for my Pre-Op on the 1st

I have surgery on May 21st in Champaign!

Thanks for the info Ice!! I'm just trying plan out everything so I can't stick to it. I had switching stuff up but I'm sure I will after a day or two. Did you purchase the Baratric Protein powder from there office or did get something from somewhere else? I work a 2nd Shift job so I'm gonna try to plan it like I'm on a 1st shift schedule.

Thats awesome Ice!! I'm getting ready to start my Pre-Op diet here in a few weeks and my Pre-Op appointment is on May 1st. I love there staff and they have been very helpful in this whole process. How did they set your Pre-Op diet up? I know it varies from person to person but I wanted to know what I'm going to be looking at lol.

Just an update from me. Finally got my approval on April 20th and my surgery date is set for May 21st in Champaign. Feels good to get the ball rolling and surgery will be around the corner before I know it!

Lauren, It took me around 3 months until I got a surgery date since it took awhile for my medical records, psych evaluation results and all the necessary stuff that needed to be sent into the Insurance company. My insurance didn't require me to do a 6 month diet since they dropped that in there bariatric plan this year. I got approved within a week of sending my paperwork in and I have a surgery date of May 21st and a Pre-Op appointment on May 1st. Its going to be a long process for ya and I hope everything goes smooth for you and get all the info you can get. This website will definitely help you with anything you need and everyone is here to help you if you have any questions!! - Amine

Just got a phone call this morning that I have my approval for my Lap Band from BCBS!! I didn't sleep much last night since we had some storms roll through but waking up to that phone call has me excited and ready to do this! I'm actually surprised it only took me a week to get a approval lol. I thought it would of been a little longer than that!! But I'm not complaining lol. Starting my Pre-OP stuff here in about two weeks!!

Thanks Ash for the Info!! I'm having my surgery done in Champaign,IL and I am from Peoria,IL. I'm not sure how much mine is going to be but I heard a ball park number around 14000 since the place I'm going through does there surgeries out patiently. My paperwork is submitted to BCBS as of Wednesday this week and now its a waiting game!!

So I have been part of this Lap Band process for about a month and half now and I gotta say, I'm pretty excited to get this new journey started. I just received word this morning that all my paper work is final and that it should be submitted to my insurance as of today or tomorrow. The thought of being more healthy and losing weight is starting to settle in. I hope I don't have any issues getting approved and that I don't have to jump through any hoops to get approval. I have been overweight for most of my young life since I was 17. I'm currently 26 years of age and I have a BMI of 44.5 and I'm a tall gentlemen at 6'2. I have been on numerous diets in the past 5-6 years and have been successful at losing weight but I would gain it right back over and over again. I can tell you right now that I love food and that's the way it is and that's my biggest problem along with my portion sizes. I'm sure a lot of you can relate to the portion sizes along with "head hunger". It's been a crazy past two years, I'm on High Blood Pressure medicine along with signs of diabetes. I'm ready for the new lifestyle change and becoming a healthier person and setting the bar high for myself. I have never really posted in details about myself on here but I'm glad I did and it sure feels good!! It will be just a matter of time before I know if I get approved or not. I shouldn't have an issue *fingers crossed*. Well its off to work for me. Have a good day ya'll!! - Amine

That's good to know that they are pretty quick. I figured with it being the beginning of the year, it would go smoothly. I'm currently waiting on psych evaluation results and it should be submitted by the end of the week or next. Did BCBS give ya any problems?

Yeah I'll have to check those sites out for sure! I ordered the book off Amazon for like 5 bucks and I'm gonna check it out. If I find something worth sharing I'll be sure to post it!!
