    Recommitting to my sleeve

I am recommiting today too. Had lapband in 2005 and initially lost 138 lbs. Had major complications (stuck, reflux, swelling etc) and have gained almot all of it back (still down about 50l). I am miserable and newly engaged (wedding in 2015). Not sure where to begin

doc wants me to have bypass

doc thinks i have bad scar tissue from band issues (constant vomiting). i dont have reflux but my esophagus is already severly dialted. i would prefer the sleeve. and will cont to ask for it.
  5. saw a new surgeon. having an upper GI then endoscopy done first week of april. band has been very tight this week. part of my issues. doc wants me to consider bypass and not the sleeve. thinks i will have better results....very fustrated.. ~Kristen

    Advice.

I have MVP insurance and they will.not cover a revision. Regardless. I still have my band but will have to swap insurances come open enrollment in nov at my job. I would call your insurance.

    Update three monthes out

I know you probably feel sad but might think of this way. 1 lb is one stick of butter etc 45 sticks is ALOT something to be VERY VERY proud of! I havent had a revision yet. Just starting the insurance process. BuT i just started weight watchers this week to help me loose some of the 45 lbs i gained back. My insurance also wants us to loose 10%. So Ww will help with that also.
  8. I just saw a doc last week to start the revision process. He said he will remove the band and then 3-6 months later due to bypass. Guess its just doctors preferrence and scar tissue etc. I have alot of my appointments scheduled in april
  9. New here! Ive had the band since 2005. Saw a new doc last week in hopes of getting a revision done. He wants me to have bypass when i was originally considering the sleeve. I have an endoscopy scheduled in april...i vomit quite often and have a dialated pouch. He said bypass is a better option. I have MVP insurance. They do not cover revision surgerys unless something is deemed life threatning. Will be going thru pre-op testing again and then will try to get mvp to cover it. If not luckily my job offers bcbs too but would need to wait til open enrollment. Either way the band will be out this year. Doc says body has to heak for 3-6 months before they would be about to go back in. Currently weighh 260. Gained 30 lbs last year or so . Nice to meet everyone! ~Kristen

    got banded in 2005.

i am not scared just nervous to go through the insurance hoops again. i will be more scared once i get the final approval. since i am just starting the revision process it could be months. i am doing it for my health.
  13. i got banded in aug of 2005. starting weight was 334.4. things went well for a while but now i cant eat and constantly vomiting. i lost over 100 lbs only to slowly gain some back. now sitting at 260. PCP wants me to have band removed and go with sleeve. never really thought of it. i have a pouch above my band and lapband doc doesnt do anything about it. so i made an appt to see a new doc in march. i am nervous. i have MVP healthcare and they are usually pretty good. guess we will wait and see
