    First fill...very awkward

    No, I only have a 10cc band...lol
  2. So I just had mt first fill and it was very different. Since the fill, I have had zero urge to eat and have to force myself to drink a protein shake. I don't think I'm too tight either. is anyone else having this problem? Right now I have 4cc in a 20cc band. 3cc at time if surgery and a 1cc fill.

    First fill...very awkward

    Typo, I have a 10cc band....
  4. Im bummed, I have been transitioned back to reg food this week and gained weight. I know it is to be expected since coming off liquids and mushies but I was enjoying my progress. I go for my first fill on the 11th
  5. I am also a private person. I kept it to myself until after my approval from Aetna. I did run into judgemental people but they dont live my life. It was a health issue and my decision to make. It has improved my quality of life already and I am only two weeks post op. I dont go around waving a flag but if asked, I provide honest answers. The band is not an automatic fix, we STILL have to put the work in so anyone who says we cheated is full of malarky
  6. I am 7 days post op and my clothes are already falling off. I walk more and I have taken up dancing, which I am anxious to get back to. I do have more energy and I am feeling much better about myself. Started my journey.at 317, today I am at 277. I cant wait to see the end result!
  7. No one knows your journey or story but you. People that call you a cheater are jealous they didnt do it first. If the lapband helps me keep from getting my feet amputated or to stay off dialysis then A cheater I shall be. Good Luck!
  8. No bananas pre op because they are high in sugar. Definitely no popcorn or bread unless the bread is toasted. Pre op I was able to eat all of the green veggies I wanted so I took advsntage of that, especially when I was hungry. I had salad, spinach, brocolli, or greens. It helped.
  9. I am day 4 post op and still not too hungry. I do force myself to sip some broth. Still have some discomfort around port area and some left shoulder pain but gas has been minimal. If you slip on your pre op diet, just get back on the wagon and you should be fine. I went to a family reunion three days before I was banded and did eat something I was not supposed to. I saw some posts where the pre op diet was not followed at all and they were still banded, but I dont advise that. Good Luck everyone
  10. @donna450, you can do it......on my pre op I could eat all of the green veggies I wanted and I took advantge of that, eating salad and spinach to get full. You got this! Good luck

    Banded Yesterday

I was banded on Wednesday and Im doing pretty good. Walking helps and I am not in too much pain, just a dull ache around the port area...day two felt like I did 1000 sit ups but that is going down as well. The swelling added about 5lbs but they should be gone in a couple days....so far happy with my decision

    Excited!!!

    Whooohooo good job
  13. I was just banded on the 14th and I must say that I am not feeling too bad! Walking does help. I did have the pain in my left shoulder but it was mild...most of my pain is around my port. It is true what they say that every day gets better. Again, I started at 317. I weighed myself yesterday and I am currently at 288...very proud of myself.

    Pre op diet

I had a huge headache after a few days but then it died down..funny thing is I did good on my pre op diet until the day before my surgery when I decided to eat just a spoonful of the sloopy joes that my mother had fixed....bad move....THAT gave me an even bigger headache. I started my journey weighing 317. I was just banded today and was down to z85! Im feeling pretty good
  15. I am on day 7 of a 14 day pre-op diet. The past couple of days I have not wanted to eat anything. I did not have any protein shake or meal or even water it was that bad. I forced myself to eat some fish and sip a protein shake and gagged on both. Has anyone else experienced this?
  16. Thanks...glad to know it wasnt just me. I am still pre op, surgery is tomorrow
  17. Tomorrow is the day! Excited, nervous, anxious and all that. Since I started this journey I have lost 30 lbs....it has done wonders to my overall health. Just hoping the band will help me keep the momentum going....I will keep everyone posted.
  18. I am on day 3 now of my pre op diet. I am getting banded 14 August. I am doing okay I guess but I have been having headaches and hunger pains. I am allowed 1-2 small healthy meals a day and I normally have some tuna in the afternoon and talapia for dinner and thats pretty much it besides my protein shakes and water. I can tell I have already dropped some pounds (I think I am the only person without a scale..lol)
  19. I read that after surgery you are only supposed to eat 3 times a day but I'm a diabetic and I need to eat every couple of hours how would that work?
  20. Ok so I know where my headache is comming from now. Day one of my pre op diet and I can already tell I am going to be hell on wheels...I would not have it any other way because I have my eye on the prize! A healthier me

    banding and diabetes

Thanks for all of the insight. Me being a diabetic is one of the main reasons I decided to finally have the surgery. To see that many people are off meds so quickly is a testament to me making the right decision! Good luck to everyone!

    Day 1

I start my pre op diet on Aug 1st...my doc allows for small meals and is not just liquid only. Has anyone else had this type of pre op diet

    Newbie with cold feet

I am getting banded on August 14th. The nurse told me soda, bread, and pasta were out. Those are going to be a challenge but I am up for it. I actually stated weaning myself from soda and it has not been that bad. When I want a taste for something other than water, I simply add crystal light. I think the bread is going to be my biggest issue. People are different and will tolerate food differently. I saw my friend who was banded a couple years ago with a strawberry shake so she does not deny herself. It just finding what works for you and what doesnt

    My journey so far.

Congrats. I will be banded on 14 August and I cant wait to start to lose weight. I have lost 25 on my own even before I start my pre op diet so I am hopeful that I can get down to my goal weight sooner rather than later.
