  1. Yep, it will stop. You are right on track at about 4 months for unfortunate Hair loss. I went to the dermatologist when it started happening to me, at about 5 months. He said it was your body going into a kind of shock and assured me I would not go bald. It stopped falling out about 2-3 months later. I was lucky to start with a thick head of hair. Hope it stops and regrows soon!

  2. I find that the band controls the portion of certain foods, like bread, Pasta, rice (which we should limit to loose weight). However, you will still be able to eat all the ice cream you want. It is what is known as a slider food. Cakes, Cookies, milk shakes, candy are sliders too. So... unfortunately some pretty unhealthy foods will go down just fine. Also high calorie drinks like juice won't cause a problem. Just my experience, everybody's seems to be a little different. Good luck in your decision making process!

  3. It is normal for you to be hungry- your band is empty. The first fill sounds like a lot- I think I got 4cc- but the tubing connecting the port to the band needs to be filled. The first fill typically is 6 weeks post op. Everyone has a different experience with fills. For me it took until the third one to get any restriction. Certainly be prepared to not feel any difference after the first fill, but maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. Good luck!

  4. I am a huge fan of the show! However, I do wonder how many people keep the weight off. What they do is so incredibly intense. I mean, 9 hours of working out a day. Who can keep up anything close to that when they home to family and jobs???? I know they showed one man who gained the weight back, can't remember his name. I do find the show totally engrossing thought. Watching their struggles and triumphs is motivating.

  5. Hair loss is a common symptom of WLS. It's your bodies way of coping with the rapid weight loss. I'm sure there is someone that can offer other suggestions but personally I just waited it out. It'll last a few months but it does stop.

Yes, I believe that is exactly right. I started loosing my hair about 5 months post-op, so you are right on track lol. I went to the dermatologist and he assured me I wasn't going bald. He said your body goes into kind of a shock with rapid weight loss. I stopped loosing my hair about 2 months later. Try not to worry, it should come back in the next couple months. I didn't use Biotin or anything like that.

  6. I have a tough time at the end of the day too. I recently have tried having a greek yogurt with Fiber one Cereal as an evening snack rather than the 1/4c nuts I was having. Seems to help a bit. When worse comes to worse I just go to bed early. Even if I just watch TV in my room, it seems to help. Brushing my teeth is another little trick that sometimes works.

  7. It is perfectly normal to be hungry at the stage you are at. Your tool is not in effect yet. Seems like a lot of people say the 3rd fill did it. I felt some restriction after the third fill. Congrats on your surgery. Hang in there with the restricted diet- you can do it! Congrats on your weight loss as well. Keep up the good work!

  8. That is fantastic you joined the Y! And couldn't be more convenient! Have fun at the orientation and good luck! Working out is such a huge piece of the puzzle! Start slow and gradually work up your intensity/duration. If you can, do different things so your body doesn't adjust. Congrats, it's a big step to join!

  9. I have been really struggling for a long time, a year at least. I lost all my excess weight and gained a lot of it back. I had a colonoscopy and to prepare had to do a 2 day clear liquid diet. That was Mon. and Tue. I decided to use it to kick start a healthy eating pattern. So far it has worked. I have been eating well and working out. I think I saw that I could tolerate some hunger and not give in. I also got my act together in terms of a clean house, laundry done, healthy food in the house et... That seems to help me stay on track eating wise. I weighed myself yesterday for the first time in months, I just couldn't handle seeing the number. After a few days of being "good" I got on. The weight was the lowest I was hoping for so that was great. I am eating the way I will for the rest of my life. I think I have finally realized what I've known in my head, lifestyle change.

  10. You are doing super! My doctor bases fills on what I am eating, and how hungry I am. To be honest, I think it's wrong for doctors to say they will only fill when your not loosing weight. As you said, you have your head in the game. It is certainly possible to be loosing weight because your sticking to a program, but have lots of hunger. Just a thought. Best wishes!
