    Hair loss

Yep, it will stop. You are right on track at about 4 months for unfortunate hair loss. I went to the dermatologist when it started happening to me, at about 5 months. He said it was your body going into a kind of shock and assured me I would not go bald. It stopped falling out about 2-3 months later. I was lucky to start with a thick head of hair. Hope it stops and regrows soon!

    smoking

I am really just repeating what others have said. You have stopped for however long, why go back? With all the damage we know smoking does, please stop. Good luck!

    NSV!!!!!!!

Wow 3 sizes in 5 weeks, that in crazy fast. Good for you! I think fitting into smaller clothes is as good as, or maybe even better than, the scale going down. Keep up the excellent work! You are sure to have many more happy shopping trips!

    After fill

You are doing great! It can be very confusing that different dr.'s give different instructions. This not only includes fills, but preop and postop diets. My doc. says full liquids 24 hours then, eat normally. I agree with others, follow what your doctor suggests. Congrats!

    over eating...

I find that the band controls the portion of certain foods, like bread, pasta, rice (which we should limit to loose weight). However, you will still be able to eat all the ice cream you want. It is what is known as a slider food. Cakes, cookies, milk shakes, candy are sliders too. So... unfortunately some pretty unhealthy foods will go down just fine. Also high calorie drinks like juice won't cause a problem. Just my experience, everybody's seems to be a little different. Good luck in your decision making process!

    First Fill?

It is normal for you to be hungry- your band is empty. The first fill sounds like a lot- I think I got 4cc- but the tubing connecting the port to the band needs to be filled. The first fill typically is 6 weeks post op. Everyone has a different experience with fills. For me it took until the third one to get any restriction. Certainly be prepared to not feel any difference after the first fill, but maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. Good luck!

    Biggest loser

I am a huge fan of the show! However, I do wonder how many people keep the weight off. What they do is so incredibly intense. I mean, 9 hours of working out a day. Who can keep up anything close to that when they home to family and jobs???? I know they showed one man who gained the weight back, can't remember his name. I do find the show totally engrossing thought. Watching their struggles and triumphs is motivating.

    Hair loss

Yes, I believe that is exactly right. I started loosing my hair about 5 months post-op, so you are right on track lol. I went to the dermatologist and he assured me I wasn't going bald. He said your body goes into kind of a shock with rapid weight loss. I stopped loosing my hair about 2 months later. Try not to worry, it should come back in the next couple months. I didn't use biotin or anything like that.

    night time snacking

I have a tough time at the end of the day too. I recently have tried having a greek yogurt with fiber one cereal as an evening snack rather than the 1/4c nuts I was having. Seems to help a bit. When worse comes to worse I just go to bed early. Even if I just watch TV in my room, it seems to help. Brushing my teeth is another little trick that sometimes works.

    Hungry: two weeks post op

It is perfectly normal to be hungry at the stage you are at. Your tool is not in effect yet. Seems like a lot of people say the 3rd fill did it. I felt some restriction after the third fill. Congrats on your surgery. Hang in there with the restricted diet- you can do it! Congrats on your weight loss as well. Keep up the good work!

    NSV: the one day clothes

Fitting into smaller sizes is just the best! Really let's you know you are shrinking, and of course you get to sport the new cute clothes. I think it's as good, if not better than seeing the scale move. Great NSV!
  12. I started loosing a bunch of hair about 5-6 months post-op. I went to the dermatologist, he assured me I wasn't going bald. He said the body goes into a kind of shock after rapid weight loss. The hairloss stopped about 3 months later. I didn't use biotin or anything else, just waited it out. Try not to worry!

    Need to start over...

I think your right, you ate the wrong things. Dry meat and bread are surely culprits of getting stuck. I agree with Toddy, I would hold off on going to the dr. See how it goes for another week, and hopefully he will do a fill. Be honest about what's going on. There is nothing worse than being to tight, I speak from experience lol.

    Joined the YMCA today!

That is fantastic you joined the Y! And couldn't be more convenient! Have fun at the orientation and good luck! Working out is such a huge piece of the puzzle! Start slow and gradually work up your intensity/duration. If you can, do different things so your body doesn't adjust. Congrats, it's a big step to join!

    Help

I agree, call the office. They may suggest something like an over the counter med for heartburn. Or may give you a prescription. Feel better.

  17. I also think it is good to get something in your stomach an hour or 2 after you've been up at the latest. A protein shake would be perfect.
  18. I have been really struggling for a long time, a year at least. I lost all my excess weight and gained a lot of it back. I had a colonoscopy and to prepare had to do a 2 day clear liquid diet. That was Mon. and Tue. I decided to use it to kick start a healthy eating pattern. So far it has worked. I have been eating well and working out. I think I saw that I could tolerate some hunger and not give in. I also got my act together in terms of a clean house, laundry done, healthy food in the house et... That seems to help me stay on track eating wise. I weighed myself yesterday for the first time in months, I just couldn't handle seeing the number. After a few days of being "good" I got on. The weight was the lowest I was hoping for so that was great. I am eating the way I will for the rest of my life. I think I have finally realized what I've known in my head, lifestyle change.

    Cancelation nightmare

Aww that stinks. I would call the office and see if they will give you the OK to advance to mushies. I bet they will. It will probably take time to reschedule the dietician, you shouldn't have to wait for that to get off liquids. Good luck!

    Pain meds

I was given percecet- don't remember the dose. It worked great, as said, any pain med is going to have a sedative effect. I didn't feel loopy on the percecet and only needed it for a few days. Congrats on your surgery!

Awsome! Keep up the good work.

    NSV!!!!

Fitting into smaller sizes is a fantastic NSV, really shows you are shrinking. To have fun shopping instead of dreading how you will find anything that fits is awesome. Keep up the good work!

    Fantastic Dr's Appt!!!!!

You are doing super! My doctor bases fills on what I am eating, and how hungry I am. To be honest, I think it's wrong for doctors to say they will only fill when your not loosing weight. As you said, you have your head in the game. It is certainly possible to be loosing weight because your sticking to a program, but have lots of hunger. Just a thought. Best wishes!
